Vegans, veggies and vaccination
Jump to: Newest in thread
Being vegetarian or vegan is a lifestyle choice, not an allergy.
Nobody has ever died from a lifestyle choice (unless it was really idiotic)
Please don't take offence at my comment, I appreciate the reasons for wanting to be vegetarian and vegan, however, considering the risk that covid can pose to your health, both short term and long-term, putting personal feelings aside would be the wiser option.
I am unsure if the vaccine do contain any animal products, so there may be nothing to be concerned over. |

"Will you still have the vaccine if it contains d.n.a from either human or animal? How much have you looked into what goes in vaccines?"
I'd deffinatly still have the vaccine. Everything we eat contains animal or plant dna. So what's different about the vaccine? My pal's dad has a heart valve from a pig. It's kept him alive for 20years! As I'm not a virologist, no, I haven't looked closely at the vaccine. Have you? |

The Covid vaccine doesn't contain any animal DNA. DNA is DNA anyway - there's absolutely no difference between the DNA of animals, plants, bacteria etc. It's a universal genetic code - all that varies between organisms is the sequence of the "letters". The actual building blocks of the DNA are the same in all organisms. The SARS-CoV-2 virus does not have a DNA genome, it has an RNA genome. RNA is essentially single stranded DNA.
The vaccine contains a small piece of mRNA (a specific type of RNA) which has been synthesised in the lab from the RNA sequence of the spike protein. The mRNA is suspended in nanoparticles of lipid (lipids are also universal molecules with the same structure in all organisms). |

I’m no expert but Animals do not have DNA they have RNA |

Animal genomes are DNA based. However DNA code is transcribed into RNA in other to get the genetic code from the nucleus of a cell to the location of protein production (ribosomes). Animals have both DNA and RNA. |

Cells that have a nucleus contain DNA (and RNA), most cells found in living organisms contain a nucleus.
Cells without a nucleus only contain RNA. |

of cause its a lifestyle choice but its interesting to get the views of vegans and veggies on the vaccines ...
would it be similar to the J.W and the blood transfusion choice |

as far as im aware none of the vaccines for covid have been championed by the vegan community, might be wrong though |

"Are those who are against eating genetically engineered crops prepared to have a genetically engineered vaccine injected into them?"
It's genetically engineered in the sense they produced a section of mRNA in the lab. The same mRNA is synthesised in your cells when the SARS-CoV-2 virus infects them. The difference here is when you have the natural viral infection, there is also mRNA for all the other components of the virus also, new viruses assemble like The Avengers in your cells and then burst out to infect more cells, causing the symptoms of Covid.
Just injecting the mRNA for the spike protein means no viral assembly (none of the other components are there) but your immune system still recognises this foreign spike protein and makes antibodies. If you are later exposed to SARS-CoV-2, you should fight off the disease immediately and not become ill. |

When I was pregnant my waters broke and 48 hours later I still hadn't had any contractions. There was a danger to my baby as the amniotic fluid was diminishing and a danger to me of infection. I am a vegetarian but I agreed to have prostaglandin to start contractions, despite it containing pig fat as I felt the safety of me and my baby were more important than my vegetarian principles. |

The current live ones often use human fetal tissue which has created a niche market. The mRNA ones don't. |

Even the Vegan society defines a vegan as someone who avoids animal products 'as much as possible'
It is a physical impossibility to have nothing to do with any product that includes animals.
Do vegans only walk or cycle? Petrol, diesel, gas, all made from dead animals. |
