Can walk around National Trust but

You can walk around the National Trust on pre booked basis but cannot play Golf on a pre booked tee time.

Walking around an NT venue is mainly random and the likelihood is occasional close contact.

Golf can managed in either pairs or groups of three or four with 10 minute intervals with less chance of contact.

Your thoughts?

There are quite a few threads now on the inequities of the rules..... Doesn't make much sense... But we are trying to stop the spread by cutting down all non essential movements... Would be interested to see what thought process thought binning out golf and travel to and from it made sense though.

Are you a golfer yourself or just providing a public service by pointing out some of the flaws in the lockdown rules.?

Some of the National Trust places have been very busy since lockdown too.

It is madness I agree but keep the tartan plus 2’s in the cupboard for now.

They have to draw a line somewhere and it will never please everyone. I understand national trust outdoor spaces being open because most people can make use of them. Golf on the other hand is only open to those with a set of clubs, money and a jag.

Look at anything in isolation and it seems crazy. Lines have to be drawn somewhere. Suck it up buttercups it isn’t going to last forever. Plenty of living can still be done even in this so called “lockdown”

Forget golf.

Why can't I go and shoot at my mates in the forest, I play paintball/airsoft.

On any given day there can be between 40 to 120 people on the site, there is plenty of room to spread out, so social distancing isn't an issue.

Besides shooting the shit out of people, can be good for your mental health

At my local NT places, yes it can get busy at times, but there's acres of wide open countryside. I can easily be 10m+ away from the nearest person 95% of the time and no need to interact with anyone. Can't see that golf should be too different, as you could practise social distancing and it's hardly as if there's any strenuous exercise going on . Walk a bit, whack a ball & repeat

Cant play golf, but can take the family around the supermarkets ...

Reminds me of the first lockdown when Derbyshire police chasing dog walkers over the peaks ....

Saw a lot of people fishing over the weekend I was wondering whether that was allowed? Not that it matters as they were all pretty solitary.

I find the golf thing very weird.

To be fair, golf shops are rubbish for grocery shopping.

The key is keeping 2m and wearing PPE( facemask) . In Tier 2

"You can exercise or visit a public outdoor space:

by yourself

with the people you live with

with your support bubble

or, when on your own, 1 person from another household.

People meeting for anything else are just plain selfish
