It’s not always looked upon as a positive achievement, but considering we had a testing capacity of only 10,000 a day back in March, the ability to create a new infrastructure and scale up a system that allows in excess of 500,000 tests a day, not to mention the fantastic testing process mentioned in this post, has to be testament to the fantastic work of all the dedicated staff involved in making it work. |

Interesting that it's all gone quiet on the media about Liverpool..
Could it possibly that the mass testing has on fact shown very few cases. 64000 tested 373 positive cases.

The numbers should be lower than people assumed they would be, as they have mass tested later than Liverpools peak, this is essentially a mop up mass test to see who's left with it |

Yeah my mum and dad have done it too, albeit they have effectively been shielding since March. They were given self-tests at a drive-in and got their negative results back by the evening. |

PCR tests for the symptomatic people, lateral flow tests for the asymptomatic. "
Pillar 2 tests are the primary model kit for care & vulnerable settings and the nation as a whole via the Government portal
Lateral Flow tests are the primary model used for mass testing programmes
PCR tests were only used in private settings but are now being used in conjunction with Lateral Flow tests to gauge lateral flow accuracy. |

You can request a postal test if you are isolating.
The point of the mass testing was that we were being told there were "thousands" of people with no symptoms who were actually infectious.
The test results from Liverpool so far don't quite reflect that.
But hey ho, my test was quick and painless and I got texted with my negative result in less than an hour. |

As far as I'm aware the self cert time frame has been extended to allow people to isolate for the appropriate amount of time while still being able to abide by lockdown / isolation guidelines |

To be honest I've lost track of what you're meant to do right now in each scenario.
The term "infected" was used so I took that as someone being diagnosed by a GP over the phone and then isolating for the required time.
People showing symptoms were still encouraged to visit the walk-in mobile testing centres when they were open but now as I've not been involved on that side of things since early October and all the mobile testing sites have been closed down I'd presume you'd just request a home test kit now. |

Iv had 26 tests so far here in ireland, everyone one of them negative and iv being on sites with over 1000 people on them and no one is wearing a mask properly, So in my opinion it seems stuffy and poorly ventilated areas is where this virus is.
Just a person opinion now so don't jump down my throat. |
