People meeting during lockdown

Jump to: Newest in thread

People meeting during lockdown seems to be rife on here. There are a few people in my local area who are still looking and in some cases getting several meet verifications (I know you can’t display them but they are stupid enough to show their summary on their profile ) . Is this the case in other areas or just in the north west ?

I have friends on here from all over the UK, and almost everyone says the same.

It is a worrying trend, especially as they are engaging in an illegal activity

I have done , nothing happens, and why should we forget about people blatantly breaking the law. If we don’t all pull together then the lockdown will continue over Xmas, why should people who follow the rules suffer because others don’t

I agree and it gets on my nerves, too, but it's all I can do.

And the blocking helps me too, because anyone engaging in casual sex with strangers now is not someone I want to meet ever. So block, and forget forevermore.

One of my local updates last night had been on Fab 17 hours. She'd already had one Meet with a couple and had on her status update that she was looking for another.

Talk about having a healthy sex drive!

Most of the meets are arranged through the plethora of social media sites, sadly Fab have no control over the situation even though the participating people are members of Fab

Why worry about what others are doing. Are you the kind of person that watches the neighbours from behind the curtains.

True, but they must be able to see the meet verifications? I know it’s a tough time for everyone but people being selfish won’t help

Because other people do things that make the situation worse and increase the risk to others including me.

I don't call the police, I don't message them, I report, block, and move on.

Thank you for your helpful advice.

Do you know how these things differ in a public health situation as opposed to one of individual choice?

I’m not sure observing rules that help prevent the spread of a deadly virus can be described as being self-righteous.

We seem to have come to this strange point in society, where basic decency and community mindedness gets you labelled as some kind of goody two shoes.

I mean... I just want us to get our lives back, the economy to be a bit less destroyed, and people around me not die or struck by an illness with unknown long term health effects?

Gosh.

^^^ This in a nutshell.

We're all desperate for some physical interaction. If I need to keep.my dick dry for another 6 months (shouldn't be difficult on here!) so EVERYONE can go back to living a normal life then so be it.

When people are going around getting their dicks wet/fannies poked and I've not been able to hug my mum or dad for almost 8 months, I'm sure you'll forgive me for being a tad feckin annoyed.

Such a selfish society we live in, it's just sad to see where people's moral compasses are really at.

I'm sure a few are. But when people say in their bio "new to the site, looking for...." and they start posting veris and "who's free tonight?" status updates are we misreading them as well?

I know in some people's eyes there's always an excuse for the stuff going on but plenty of us are able to see through the BS and are quite rightly calling it out.

During the summer one of my parents came close to dying. I wouldn't have made the funeral. (Recovering well, but... that's a head fuck)

One of the most important people in my life died about six weeks ago. Couldn't go to the funeral.

I do what I must. It sucks, it fucking sucks, but it isn't about me.

It pisses me off that others don't get it or don't care.

And on the one hand it's not my business, but on the other hand they're part of the problem and I'm allowed to be resentful.

The start of my profile:

**It should not need saying, but I’m not meeting until I feel this pandemic has been brought under control. I feel deep responsibility to my community. Public health will always come long before my sexual gratification, and if you don't agree, I don't want to meet you. Stay home, wank, help the NHS. **

It's boils my piss that I have missed my 1st child's birth this week as I was following the 14 days isolation rules yet day in day out we are getting tons of messages on fab asking to meet now

We all know what the response is and just blocking the user from the person who reported them is a poor response and does nothing to tackle the problem.

Anyone of us throughout the UK can look at our local updates relevant to where we live and see all the usual offenders doing it over and over.

How can they get away with blatantly putting met now requests on their status update for all to see? Not once or twice but day after day?

I've been warned by people not to post this as it will be me who ends up punished. I really hope that's not the case.

This is a massive part of the problem. There are some very prominent posters on here who are turning a blind eye to what's going on and making excuses for the behaviour. And admin just putting a mutual block between you and the person breaking rules really ain't a solution as someone else highlited above.

I pointed out a post from a couple of nights ago started by someone who had been meeting dodgy guys and it was met by dozens of sympathetic posts offering advice on staying safe. Not one response saying "hang on, you're not supposed to be meeting anyway - problem solved" because people are scared of getting bans or being accused of being a "curtain twitcher".

The issue would be admin would need to prove a meet actually took place.

This place is as bad as face ache with status updates, but someone who states "are you free" or "who is free tonight", as much as they are willing to meet it does not mean they have done or have any intentions of doing so.

Fab are doing pretty well at filtering out the offenders, but they can only do so much.

O o O oo

Here is an explanation from Admin from another thread on how they deal with reports.

******Just a quick note. If people report others and we can verify that they have broken site rules, we always take action (either a first and final warning, partially suspended account, fully suspended, mixture of the above).

Every single report sent via the REPORT link is reviewed. Clearly it's not in our interests to have people on here who are bad for the site. Equally we need to verify what has been reported and be fair to those who have been reported.

Admin

PS. we never provide feedback on what has happened. It's just not practical given that we get 100s of reports a day.

Here is what the page says after a report has been submitted:

--

Your feedback has been saved.

A website admin will shortly review your feedback and take the necessary action. After reviewing the evidence available to us, we may disable an account, remove a user, disable certain aspects of that user's account or issue a warning.

By leaving feedback you help improve the site for everyone who uses it. Thank you.******
