Obviously one of the ongoing things of 2020 is idiots buying mountains of bog rolls. Wondering has anyone actually got to the point where they have run out at home?? no one I know has so where’s it all come from??!
Maybe it was a fake news plot by toilet paper manufacturers |

Never ran out here. There were people buying it up here at the start of the first lockdown but although a couple of shops ran out on the shelves this time, it was soon replenished. They may well have had made arrangements to counter the stupid this time.
Still can't imagine what on earth people did with the ones from earlier in the year, or the soap for that matter. |

Diarrhoea is a covid-19 symptom and the nhs and cdc published it as one early on hence the panic buy, sugar is one thing to run out of but no toilet roll and being stuck on the loo really panicked people |

As I have the storage space, I buy a 72 roll bulk pack a couple of times a year.
I just carried on using what I'd already got and gave a couple of dozen rolls to friends and neighbours when they were running low.

I'm a member of Costco, so I bulk buy a bundle of 45 (5 packs of nine rolls) three times a year.
Last lockdown Costco were limiting customers to one bundle, and although I had enough for myself, I bought a bundle of 45 rolls, and left a pack of nine on my several of my retired neighbours doorsteps. I also bought a box of five dozen eggs, and left a dozen eggs each for them too.
Last week just before the latest lockdown, I did my usual Costco run, and the store was noticeably busier than usual

I asked a friend why he was buying so many 9-packs of loo roll the 1st time folks went mad.
He replied "I saw it on the news, with all the folks ramming their trolley's full at the supermarket, so I thought I'd best get down to the supermarket quick and buy as much as possible before it all disappeared"
There's your answer. Herd Mentality.
I said to the missus "Just buy the normal shop and if we run out, we'll improvise."
She said "Yeah. no problem".

Very nearly did at the start of lockdown one.
Ironically was low of loo roll just as it started! First weekend into it I had to find some. Luckily I did. Not gone overboard though.
Kids were a bit pissed off we ran out of pasta at one point but they lived. |

We didn’t but knew people who had and delivered some to them. Luckily I’ve always bought the big packs and like to have one lot in reserves - teenagers at home.
I was lucky in that I cook from fresh so have a lot of store cupboard ingredients etc so I always had what we needed |

"and like to have one lot in reserves - teenagers at home.
Seriously I’m sure my teenager eats shit roll! "
A friend's teenage son seems to hoard loo rolls in his room. His father is convinced he's a shrewd tycoon in the making, waiting to seize on a sudden shortage in he market.
I told him he is seizing on something, and it certainly isn't disaster economics and supply-chain opportunism. |

"Why was there ever a rush for big roll in the first place
covid doesn’t affect your arse
Lol"
People in Hong Kong started panic buying it first because they get all their TP from China and had been cut off. Australians heard about this and went crazy for it too. People here saw Australians doing it and, well... Monkey see, monkey do. |

But surely you use less toilet paper to dab at the after effects of a diarrhoea no2 than you often do for a good healthy no2? (FHM had a feature on this year's ago, one of the no2's was titled the "never ending wipe") |
