As we approach Remembrance Day I feel reading this forums it’s worth reminding ourselves what this nations services and population have sacrificed or indeed endured over the past 100 odd years.
Generations have lost years of their lives serving this country, separated from their family, partners etc. People have rebuilt our shattered cities, flattened businesses and economy and left a legacy of the island state which endures, stands together and ultimately despite all the odds always prevails.
The NHS has since the beginning of this year suffered more deaths than the British Army has throughout the entire occupation of of Afghanistan. As a country we have lost more people than the bloodiest day of our history that was the 1st day of the battle of the Somme. Whatever stats you choose to read, it is impossible to deny we are in a large scale fight when it comes to covid-19.
One thing I can guarantee is all those who have sacrificed themselves to maintain our freedom, liberty and national identity would be amazed at some peoples definitions of such matters.
Do people truly believe wearing a mask, forgoing their trip to the gym, social distancing or avoiding large gatherings is too much a sacrifice to make?
I’d suggest our grandparents who spent the better part of 6-7 years fighting overseas or sitting in an air raid shelter whilst their city burned would turn in their graves.
I suspect the message from our past would deliver a simple message:
For gods sake, man/woman the fuck up! |

"Perfectly put.
I have to say I have also noticed very few people wearing poppies this year. Maybe it's just me in a not very observant. "
I think the concept of handing out paper poppies and placing covid coins in a tub held and sorted through by elderly ex servicemen is probably deemed not a great plan.
I did see they have taken to producing a lot of metal poppies etc and are selling through amazon |

Having gone to war for this country myself I’m pretty sure they think you’re stand is a bit of a joke hunni. Last time I checked, I wouldn’t have given my life so Fox from Farnborough didn’t have to wear a mask #justsaying

Will be tough for us who lost good friends in wars as well as family too. Especially saying all the normal memorials arent on.
But i do keep saying to others, this little sacrifice now is nothing compared to what we gave up in afghan/iraq and other wars. But what you give up, you gain elsewhere, becuase sometimes all it takes is a shit situation to realise all you need is the people around you to get you through... And maybe a bag of haribo |

I have to say I am struggling to give to the charity due to this, also more people are using cards instead of carrying cash. |
