I've been furloughed today, sent home because i have recieved an email saying i'm extremely highly vulnerable and should work from home, if i'm not able to do that i have to stop working. I'm thankful my work have furloughed me as i'm not able to work from home but i feel sad because my job has been great recently.
Anyone else newly furloughed ? |

I’m nhs so working but people in my family have been furloughed again and it’s so hard being paid 80% one of my family members is panicking about how they will manage and trying to sort out a temp job.
It’s great that your job has supported you though because nothing has being put forward for the vulnerable to isolate this time, we have a 70 year old working with us and we are just trying to protect her ourselves as she can’t be furloughed |

I was furloughed for a month last time, i didn't get my shielding letter until june last time (my GP surgery made a very big mistake). My workplace is open but last time we only had a handful of children each day so i didnt feel at risk. Now we are up to complete capacity and covid has affected our clients so it feels to close now and i didn't feel safe at work. |

I work in a hotel and my first shift back after furlough was two weeks ago this coming Sunday. The rest of the hotel reopened in July but my department was delayed.
We lasted two weeks as a full staff team. |

My Company has closed it's doors for good last week, I am currently looking for work in precision engineering.
I'm currently going through the arduous task of looking into what is available in terms of financial help. I do have 3 months pay due to me, this won't last too long though.
Although I am now officially out of work, jobs are far and few between at the moment due to current circumstances I am very optimistic and trying to pull out all the stops to get straight back into it.
Keep your spirits up people, things will improve I'm sure |

I (Mr. DIY) work on the touring circuit...I got a very small furlough payment at the beginning of the implosion of the world due to being on a fixed term contract until mid April, other than that I've fallen through every crack going when it comes to support. Thankfully I landed one of those early supermarket delivery driver jobs, so when added to Mrs' maternity pay (thankfully she has a full time job), we've still got enough coming in to keep us and our new baby comfortable, but I really feel for friends and colleagues in the industry who haven't been so lucky |

Furloughed in March, returned for two days a week in July, tested positive for covid end of September, went back to work last week, off this week as we have to use our leave now furloughed again. My boss phoned me to say I was furloughed, and it's likely to be til March.
I'm on 100% pay and have two private pensions. With my free over 60s oyster I'm actually saving money like I've never done before. Financially, I'm good and because the other half has, as a self employed engineer been unable to work much (gas licence expired and unable to find a local place to renew it) all the work I was going to pay for he's done/doing.
For me it's the lack of human contact that's the killer. My daughter was involved in a car crash and I couldn’t see her. My youngest, expecting her first baby was rushed to hospital with breathing difficulties and clots on her lungs but only her husband could visit.
Sitting at home in the summer is one thing as I have a lovely garden. Being indoors in winter with no contact with friends and family will be very trying this time round. |

It's one of those weird words that doesn't follow with the spoken language. There was a spelling of it as 'furloe'.
The 'gh' maybe there to represent an 'f' so 'fur-loff' is a more likely phoenetic pronunciation. Especially as it comes from a Dutch word 'vorloffe'. |

Not true. Unless the rules have changed since the furlough scheme started, which I don’t think they have, you can be furloughed from one job, but still work another. What you can’t do is work for the job you’re furloughed for. |

"i havnt been furloughed, im not eligable, still no work tho, but no money either, as always motor sport slips through the gap for gov support, never mind that it employs millions in the uk" it’s a nightmare. Jobs that don’t apply, only paying up to £2500 and so many holes it’s unreal. It’s great it helps so many but there should be no need for it. And when it ends and all those people are layed off there won’t be any jobs to apply for anyway.

I now personally know 23 people yes 23 that have lost their jobs and the won’t get re-employed and furloughed as companies they have worked for have all folded. Well I believe two may get taken back on their businesses are checking the legality and luck would have it 3 have found jobs although not paying anything near what they was earning. |

i hope so, but it doesnt look good tbh, motorsport relies on rich people who love the sport, they all have other wories atm, this things affect jobs that people dont think of, of all the people i know in the trade, only 10 are still working, and im sure there are other industries in the same boat |

I think a lot of furloughed jobs will be redundant. As soon as staff have to be paid and landlords can enforce against unpaid rent a lot of businesses will go bust. It’s only the emergency measures that have kept businesses alive and the ‘new normal’ means the demand won’t return even when restrictions are lifted. |

Worked every working day throughout this mess but as long as you can get by on the 80% just try and enjoy however long you may be furloughed |

You can claim state pension and keep working, you just have to make sure your taxes are dealt with. My Dad (81) was working till just before lockdown..... |

"I've been furloughed today, sent home because i have recieved an email saying i'm extremely highly vulnerable and should work from home, if i'm not able to do that i have to stop working. I'm thankful my work have furloughed me as i'm not able to work from home but i feel sad because my job has been great recently.
Anyone else newly furloughed ?
Worked every working day throughout this mess but as long as you can get by on the 80% just try and enjoy however long you may be furloughed "

"I’m nhs so working but people in my family have been furloughed again and it’s so hard being paid 80% one of my family members is panicking about how they will manage and trying to sort out a temp job.
It’s great that your job has supported you though because nothing has being put forward for the vulnerable to isolate this time, we have a 70 year old working with us and we are just trying to protect her ourselves as she can’t be furloughed why can’t some one over 70 be furloughed?
People over 70 can be furloughed. One of my team was furloughed from May to this week and he's 74.
State pension and furlough ?
You can claim state pension and keep working, you just have to make sure your taxes are dealt with. My Dad (81) was working till just before lockdown.....
Oh yes forgot about his taxes ."
My Dad does an annual tax return and pays his dues still. So does my Grandad as his income from pensions and investments is higher than the threshold for tax free. They are both in their 80s (81 and 89). There's a 20yr age gap between my parents so creates a weird age thing between Dad and maternal Grandfather...... |
