Because there are always two sides to everything. To counter balance the hysteria of the people who may have been lucky enough to 'stay home and save lives' and 'just wear your fucking mask' and we wouldnt be in this mess.

We have all enjoyed being able to get our food from supermarkets whether in person or delivered, doing our bit. The good little cashier sat at the tills day after day maskless and without screens right through the heart of it as we safely dash in and out, phew. We have all enjoyed electricity and water and drainage as we hid away safely. The water and drainage and electricity elves working away tirelessly, no masks no screens right through the worst of it. We sit and watch our tellies and take in the fear and stay at home and save lives.

Except all the people who can't and do you know what, they see what the tv doesnt tell us, that that this thing isnt ripping through communities, that they and their colleagues are still there, the same customers keep appearing, thank god, maybe it isnt so deadly and they havnt been thrown to the wolves by heartless leaders just to keep the system working. So maybe they can also start to become a little cynical about what they are told to believe. Now medical staff are obviously seeing a different side as they are at the forefront and the ill are concentrated at their doors as to be expected.

Now if people really could be bothered to study the numbers, really look at them without the hysteria, maybe they could 'open their fucking eyes' and maybe just maybe take a step back from all the virtue signalling. You still got your shopping and your electricity didnt you, and it was from these people that you may now be calling an idiot and thick just because they see it differently to you. Happy Saturday

Hmm a very telling lack of response from the oh so vocal about how their vulnerable are being put at risk from idiots. A bit quieter when asked to consider the plight of hidden workers who have been expected to risk death from a deadly new disease every single day of this pandemic so you get your pint of milk or loaf of bread. As I suspected Fab.

I've been pointing out the amount of "essential workers" you need to run a country for ages.

But still the mantra that if we all just stay in for a few weeks this virus will disappear remains strong.

Nobody has ever denied the importance of key workers. At many times the forums have been full of nothing but praise for them.

No need to patronise people for the simple act of not responding to your thread within 30 minutes though. It's a Saturday; people have things to do and many don't spend their entire lives on the fab forums

I work as a caretaker in a council estate so had to keep going through this.

Also know a lot of vulnerable people including relatives too.

My view is that it's right to take precautions, and we all.have a part to play. Being cautious and minimising the risks keeps those if us who have to work often without masks safe as well.

Yiu dont have to be hysterical about it just wear a mask in the shops and observe social distancing.

I think 200k dead in America is a good indication of what happens when you get stupid

Very true, however there are a vast number of people that are still telling others to wear masks now, even though it's been a thing for some considerable time and who have still been going to work as normal.

That's because the WHO and the CDC and most medical experts then said that's masks were a waste of time when dealing with an endemic airborne virus.

Of course they work pretty good in making people compliant and if you refuse you stand out like a person wearing a star of David

Outside and assuming you are correctly social distancing, you are at much less risk than a shop worker. For inside work, I will see if I can get the manufacturer names for the masks our contractors are currently wearing for you. They are repairing the heating ducts in the ceiling and have been wearing masks all through the day last week. Might help you out if you can identify a high flow type and make it more comfortable for you.

True. We weren't asked until evidence became available pointing largely to the benefits of mask wearing to prevent the wearer from infecting others. Especially important as many people have no symptoms when infected, are ignorant of it and yet still have the same viral loads and infection potential as people with symptoms.

I think this is my point, many of the others telling people to wear masks are telling those that have been in harms way all this time not being required to wear safety gear. To be told you are trying to kill people after all the harm you have been supposedly placed in, is upsetting at best and patronising at worst.

It's got an IFR of 0.03 for under 70 year olds, for anybody under 21 it's less deadlier than influenza.

I have researched Event 201 and Operation CYGNUS and looked at preparedness meetings by the government and NHS.

I've worked with vulnerable people they all have lung problems, difficulty breathing, cough, nothing wrong with taste buds.

If droplets from your nose are contagious... Best not have meets but folk on here do meet for a shag. Not me.

The vulnerable should just be locked up forever

There's no vaccine for flu

It's a type of flu

They're destroying the economy

Suicide rates/ cancer patients (but conveniently not how mental health is harmed by a raging pandemic or how those with cancer are at increased risk of catching things)

Natural herd immunity

As I suspected Fab.

Milk from a cow I presume you mean. Do you know how much a female cow suffers?

Milk contains bacteria actually some people are diary free it makes them very ill.

No one at school bothered to look after milk. I drank it warm. Made me ill.

Tap water makes you ill. I had legionnaires.

So many things make us ill.

How many years you cough?

Hay fever

A cold... The symptoms for covid cover so many things.

I have flu once. I sweated it out with fluids. I was not contagious did not have to be herded, mask wearing, every time you cough are covid diseased, no.

They say disease, they say pandemic. They make every death say Covid.

I've read Dark Winter operation

I have researched Event 201 and Operation CYGNUS and looked at preparedness meetings by the government and NHS.

I've worked with vulnerable people they all have lung problems, difficulty breathing, cough, nothing wrong with taste buds.

If saliva is contagious best not kiss.

If droplets from your nose are contagious... Best not have meets but folk on here do meet for a shag. Not me.

This is my opinion.

Bread does too. Green fungi on bread.

Hidden bacteria on and in your house. Dust is contagious. I am off to dust off contagious theories. "

You need to spend an afternoon using Google to educate yourself on bacteria and viruses maybe ?

The point isnt to deny its existence, that is plain to see, nor to debate mask wearing or not, everyone with half a brain on both sides are perfectly capable of researching into their given thoughts on it without having to resort to insults or trying to pull the stupid card on the other. The point, if I have one at all is probably more down to free thought and being willing or able to even begin to see anothers point in this. I like to take a side in a debate that is opposite to the one I hold just to really get an idea of the situation. Would it hurt for the people who are really vocal against an idea to just take the other side. We wont tell anyone and you can still wear a mask but just even think from a viewpoint that isnt your own and then you may not have to call us stupid. Now thats me being patronising and I am off to have MY dinner.

"So you can't see it so it's not real?

Good to know.

Given the Tories have recently called trying to get hungry children fed "virtue signalling", I think we should take it for the badge of honour that it is.

Who said it isn't real ?

The OP says it's exaggerated.

It's got an IFR of 0.03 for under 70 year olds, for anybody under 21 it's less deadlier than influenza.

It's definitely a problematic novel Corona virus, the Spanish flu it isn't.

How best can we continue with a relatively normal life while balancing the risks to the small amount of vulnerable is a reasonable question.

Do you know that mortality isn't the only bad outcome from disease?

Do you know that vulnerable people run into the millions, and locking them in their homes forever is a) not entirely effective, and b) cruel?

I'm a libertarian,I don't wish to lock anybody up, I think people should be given as much help as possible for them to take as much risk and actions as they feel fit."

Imposing a libertarian lifestyle as you outlined, would mean that those least informed and able to make accurate risk assessments would be lambs to the slaughter. That's why we have state expertise, legislation etc, so those with it guide the rest of us and we can get on with enjoying our lives, without having to be experts in everything.

The scientific consensus says this is real and serious and failing therapeutics or vaccines, distancing lowers transmission.

You can provide names of things to look up. Given the explosive nature of such findings, paradigm shifting, I'm certain that it'll have had a lot of academic attention and been published in one or more prestigious peer reviewed journals.

I’ve spent up to 16 hrs a day wearing hard PPE, fit masks, visors, gowns, double gloves whilst lifting patients, carrying oxygen bottles etc... Tried a few times to work out exactly what OP’s point is. I’ve still not a clue!

Incredible how such a poorly worded brain fart can generate such a lengthy discussion!!!

It’s almost as if a group of people, none of whom are fully certain of any facts about the subject, are just emptying their unqualified opinions all over an Internet forum. Swiftly followed by other people who also equally don’t know what they’re talking about, but want the last word regardless!!!

Most of the people on this forum are just anonymously shouting into the void of the internet. Arguing with strangers who have as little correct opinions as themselves. It’s absolutely mind boggling to watch.

That's the beauty of libertarianism, it doest require imposing unlike most other political ideologies.

I don't think people need to be expert engineers to run a car, basic simple advice with financial help where required and maybe a temporary state run system for essentials being delivered.

Although to be honest, I work for the state, I wouldn't trust them to run anything that well.

"I take it she is saying that some like to stay at home and shout wear a fucking mask.

Some have to go out and make a living and get on with it.

She is saying there are 2 sides to every debate without calling people idiots and I fully agree with her.

I am yes

So what part of your job could you not do without wearing a mask?

Mine all of it I run up and down roofs 6 days a week.

Heavy manual work."

Yes there are many types of job where it is difficult and perhaps even dangerous to wear a mask. Which makes it even more important for those of us who can wear a mask to do it, to help protect the people who cannot. It also makes it important for employers to do what they can to help keep their employees safe, which might involve installing safety screens, or adjusting distances between workers. It might mean that where people have to work as a small team, efforts are made to keep the same people in each team, instead of continuously swapping around.

The responsibility is also there for the government to aid employers, so that they can afford to keep their employees safe.

All of this is why some of us get angry with those who refuse to wear a mask not for any important reason, but because it smudges their makeup or because it's "a conspiracy". I wear a mask when I'm near other people, because not all of those people can wear a mask. The shopper who won't wear a mask, or just wears it as a chin bib, is insulting the shop workers who are doing a bloody good job, what has actually become a dangerous job, of helping to keep the nation fed.

Essential workers have made huge efforts to keep everything going; it is only common courtesy for the rest of us make what effort we can.

"Libertarians are mostly cunts, whose only real concern is for themselves."

Language Timothy

Most people's "real concerns" is for themselves, family and friends, that's a product of biology and evolution.

However what can benefit one person can also benefit many, it's a shared sense of a goal.

The opposite of a libertarian is of course a authoritarian, most people are in the middle ground where they want liberty but need authority.

A spanked bot maybe.

Chance would be a fine thing.

Oh dear.

I certainly don't expect everyone to agree with me on here, nor even to like me, but engaging in personal insults after what, to me at least, was a bit of lighthearted banter, is a step too far don't you think?

I'm not going to stoop to your level by responding in kind, as I've no wish to derail this thread any further, so you crack on if you wish. I'm out of here.

"Tried a few times to work out exactly what OP’s point is.

I take great offence at that. I didnt know I needed a qualification to have an opinion. What is the correct opinion, assuming you are suitably qualified to tell us

my opinion sometimes less words has more meaning

That little gem censorship Got it. "

Not in the slightest

Keep it simple make your point

Too many words the point gets lost

"I take it she is saying that some like to stay at home and shout wear a fucking mask.

Some have to go out and make a living and get on with it.

She is saying there are 2 sides to every debate without calling people idiots and I fully agree with her."

Definately

Fair enough

But for the record that was a light hearted joke on normally seeing you in the politics forum...which I refer to as either downstairs or the cellar.

The traffickers presumably. I would struggle to debate their cause mind.

"

They are different kind of masks and you know full well they are.

I would challenge any one in these forums to do my job for a week and wear a mask doing it.

I’ve spent up to 16 hrs a day wearing hard PPE, fit masks, visors, gowns, double gloves whilst lifting patients, carrying oxygen bottles etc... I’d happily put money on the fact I could do a week wearing a losing fitting non medical mask and run up a few ladders. I actually think it sounds pretty fucking breezy.

Whatever happened to Men in this country?

Run up a few ladders lol ok.

Haha hahaha hahahahaha hahahahaha. "

I’ve done the Eiger with a fleece buff covering my lower face... I just don’t think I‘m feeling the agony you associate with a small square of cotton hunni x
