And was told at the door that Mask wearing was obligatory before entrance - by a member of staff wearing her Mask under her nose. I said (feeling a sudden rush of blatant cheek rushing through my veins) That's not how 'you' should wear a mask. She answered: 'I don't have to explain to you how I wear my mask' and then promptly asked a couple behind me why they weren't wearing masks !!!
Comedy Gold brought to you by INTU.
I don't think she'll get a COVID Marshal Job.

Actually don't ever let her see this - she didn't and I would be in deep doo. lol |

"Makes me laugh how these dicks with the industrial type masks with the tube opening things on them.. them tube parts arè for all the crap air to be forced back out into the open"
I have a pair of them. They have two layers of cloth and a separate filter. If they are letting crap air out then it begs the question why people were told a scarf would be fine. |

i occasionally work security at Trafford.. its a hellish job on those doors.. so many people pretending to have asthma. But, unless it's changed over past few weeks we can't actually turn anyone away just try to convince them, tell them where they can buy a mask. and that most shops won't serve them. The member of staff may have been wearing that mask on a twelve hour shift |

"according to the local rag five people were stopped and fined by GMP at the trafford center over the weekend for refusing to wear masks
Really? It's actually not illegal?"
"
There are some places where you must wear a face covering by law. Different rules exist in different parts of the UK about which you can find out more on the relevant regional websites:

I never understand why people do that, you never win. |

The only bit we don't understand is why anyone would voluntarily go to the Trafford Centre, even pre-pandemic.
It, and all similar shopping centres, are awful soulless places full of identikit chain stores selling tat people don't need. |

Oh I remember that. She went back to the store (with complete mask) to confront the guy who posted it online! |

These would be the ones with a black circular valve thing on the front, some have one valve in the middle, some have one each side.
These type of masks filter the air when you breathe in, but when you breathe out the exhaust valve(s) open up and the air from your lungs just whooshes out in a jet, without being filtered.
The main point of wearing a mask is to catch or just slow down the crap that people are breathing out, rather than to filter on the way in. We all know that unless you have a medical grade mask, the filtering on the way in is only marginal. But that's okay if the breathe coming away from people carrying the virus can only travel a little distance - hence the 2 metre rule.
These masks with a valve though - they are actually worse for spreading covid than not wearing one. The jet of breath that comes out of the valve is going much faster than a normal exhalation, and can easily travel five to ten metres... If you see someone wearing one of these masks, avoid them like the plague! |

Funny they ran an entire campaign to address people badgering disabled people about seeing there badges based on the facts not every disability is visible.
Now all of a sudden the left on here seem to want everybody wearing the star of David if they don't wear a mask.

Not all Polly
Mine has a fairly thick outer with a valve but there's a cotton layer inside that with a filter which can be replaced between the two.
More air comes out the bottom than the valve to be honest . |

That one is probably reasonably good then. Many with the valve though have a hole in the filter at the place where the valve is, with a sort of clamping ring. And are made to be very snug fitting to the skin around the edges. The effect of those is to give a one way filter effect when you breathe in, but to pop the valve open when you breathe out and the air blows out with no filtering.
I looked at quite a few different types online, and it was actually the more expensive and sturdy looking ones that were the least appropriate for covid. (Bloody good for what they were designed for i will admit, for wearing in a dusty or other contaminated area and stopping crap going in your lungs, but not so good when it's viral crap that is coming out of the wearer's lungs...) |
