Diolch
Disappointed that they are shutting gyms but I actually think this fixed term idea is correct.
17 days is doable and does not give them the option to keep dragging shit out indefinitely with no benefit for months on end   |

Yes
And people are far more likely to comply with short term, strict rules with a promised end date, than months of grasping at various straws like we have been until now |

It's been a sad year but we need to get over this virus somehow. I think Wales have done a great job of protecting its people and I hope this slows or stops the spread and helps us return to normal. |

A number of things. Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, can afford to have these lockdowns as they can come cap in hand and expect more money to recover their economy from big daddy England. I'm not saying they are right or wrong it's the way the UK works.
I'm not a fan of lockdown but I applaud Wales for trying to tackle it and their solidarity, at least in being desisive. England can't even get Manchester into another tier for Christ's sake.
It remains to be seen if it all works or not, the virus will continue to spread after the lockdown ends. We had three months of it and were here now so, Im yet to be convinced by the tactic. |

I genuinely hope it works but I doubt it will work much and any short term gain will be quickly lost within a few weeks of it ending unless they seal off the border and shut all ports and airports.
How long I give them before they starve to death though is a different matter.

The Welsh Assembly Government has taken the right approach to reduce the virus, i know the lockdown will not cure the virus. However, this lockdown will support the Welsh NHS to ensure they can continue to care for people for non-covid issues.

Yeah you could be right on both counts but I still cant see why Boris couldnt make travelling to Wales from high risk areas illegal.
I for one am pretty happy with the way things have been done in Wales so when Boris wouldnt do anything our goverment did what they thought was best for the people in Wales . Well done to them I say .

Same, even worse as it’s the same school. Mind you due to colds/coughs & a strict head they’ve spent more time off school than in it since they went back.
They’ve been home now since last Tuesday, still waiting for result from last Thursdays test. The first time it took over a week just to get the appointment!
All a bit mad as we’ve spent today playing football & riding bikes outside.
Not exactly signs of illness but there you go rules are rules..

So how is a 17 day lockdown going to help, realistically lockdown would have to be at least 28 days to be effective |

I am the first to admit that I dont understand all statistics and data for the virus but Ill take my chances on following the guidance given by my goverment and their advisors.
After reading some of the conspiracy theories on the forums about the virus my mind boggles.Everyone has different views and opinions on what is right and wrong and how we should be dealing with it. Who is right ? Who is wrong ?
Nobody knows and nobody has all the answers.I can only do what I think is best. |

It gives people some time to plan for and manage the changes, such as business owners, staff and their associated ones too, such as childcare.
A few days is reasonable, whilst people are now informed of the issue and can alter how they are behaving today too |

Thing is they will drop, Drakeford has pretty much guarantee’d this by doing it during half term & then only partly reopening the schools.
The real question you won’t be able to answer is how much will be due to the lockdown & how much is due to the school closure.
Pretty good scam really, take the credit for any reduction without having to take any of the risk if there isn’t.
