Most vitamin supplements you can buy are pushed out before they have any benefit.

I thought this would of been more of a topic considering the benifits of vitamin D to do with covid 19. If there are any benefits to taking vitimin D.

"I caught it and I'm healthy"

Being healthy doesn't mean you're not going to catch it, It just means that you are less likely to get seriously ill.

There was definitely a thread about vitamin D a while back. It may have been called something random though, so difficult to find it in a search. Could be called anything really.

There's no harm in doing a new thread about it.

We take VitC and zinc was thinking about taking D in winter but decided to just diet and eat a little more fish, red meat , eggs.

Has anyone used screening for vitamins and minerals were looking into getting tests done but unsure whether to do through a dietician/nutritionist consultation or an online test which is much cheaper but could be a pile of trash

"Vitamin D. As a nightshift worker i felt it wise."

Definitely worth it, probably for most people who don't work nights.

Fact is that most of the year we dont get enough sun due to working in doors and 80% of our body being covered in clothing.

I heard from specialists recommending 8000IU of vitamin D a day and use of light therapies such as sun bed.

Interestingly sun bed were once and still mostly are seen as bad, but there is more and more proof showing that the lack of Sun on our skin may actually be more harmfull then Sun beds.

I'm currently taking about 2000IU of vit D and Sun beds twice a week plus other vitamins and minerals.

Planning on upper the vit dose soon.

I don't get why some say that there is no benifits to taking vitamins.

From what I've heard the WHO don't say a lot about about them because there is no money in it for them.

Too much iron can constipate, so best only to take it with medical advice.

Living in n Scotland I take Vitamin D every winter.

There has been previous evidence if Vit D deficiency up here did to poor diet, lack of sunshine etc. Rickets was a big thing a long time ago up here which was fixed by introducing a better diet and Vit D.

I agree the majority of oral tablets taken pass through the body without being used, but for some it may be if benefit and is generally of no harm.

Boots hair, skin and nails supplements definately improved my nails

Omega 3 capsules are the same as cod liver oil capsules.

Just names really.

Have a read up on the difference between them.

Yes and I have done for years, nothing to do with covid19 though and I also eat a very varied diet, again nothing to do with covid19, just a general wellness thing.

I take a high dose of vit D, also vit B, Omega Oil, iron, peppermint oil, magnesium plus cranberry and 2 different types of healthy bacteria tablets. All are talen on the advice of my GP and various consultants. I do have a very varied diet but apparently my body struggles to obtain what it needs without suppliments.

I take a high dose of folic acid and vitamin D, as well as vitamin C and cod liver oil.

Nothing to do with covid though, I have a folate deficiency.

And, for some reason, multivitamins seem to give me back pain...

I take a turmeric supplement and drink loads of turmeric tea as well. It works wonders for me. Cod liver oil is great for the joints, no? I also take a wellman multivitamin every other day.
