Just seen there is a petition on the Parliament site - https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/333869/signatures/new - currently with over 300k signatures!
My gym is possible the safest place I go to (much more so than my local Tescos!) - and practically swimming in sanitiser.
Given that obesity, respiratory issues and fitness levels may have a major effect on Covid symptoms so not closing gyms seems like a no brainer - especially given how fitness also helps mental health.
London is currently in Tier 2. Tier 3 in Liverpool caused gyms to be closed, but in Lancashire gyms are current open - so closure is up for some debate.
Fingers crossed! |

I don't think gyms should have special status above other business who have to close. A lot of pubs were well sanitised and safe. Should these be open too. As for health benefits, it is actually possible to excersise safely outside, eg running, cycling, even a Jane fonda vid on the TV. |

Problem is with pubs is that social distancing can to go out the window when chuck out occurs (in some cases as reported in the press).
Exercise outside was fine during the summer but as winter draws in, not so good....and don't forget not everyone has space to exercise inside. |

Apparently there is some flex in what is enforced by the local authority"
Well politicians here have put an official complaint it as whichever way you dress it up,its completely inconsistent. |

Because its very inconsistent. That's the problem with special statuses being applied. If gyms are open, it sends out the wrong signals to other businesses, who have had to shut, even though they might be just as safe. |

Erm..gyms are open.
Its nothing to do with special status
In lancs..level 3..gyms open
In Merseyside level 3..gyms closed.
Hardly surprising from a gmnt who cannot organise a telephone call. |

Yes you're correct, gyms are open. How do you describe why some are open and others having to close. Special status? Inconsistent? |

"You need to shout at your own Local Authority not Central Government. It's they who have the power to open or close. "
Someone should tell liverpool city council as they have put in an official complaint and there is talk of legal action. |

Maybe you just have a Mayor that can't read simple words from a .gov website. |

Good point.
I mean it's not as if they would ever get anything wrong. |
