East Lancashire

Bit of clarification needed.

Pubs that serve substantial meals can remain open (following distance measures naturally) but does this mean you can only go in IF you are buying a meal as well? Or because they have the ability to serve meals, you can go in for just a drink and not eat? And what is classed as substantial?

You have to order a meal, otherwise it would be pointless.

You can only have alcohol with a main course, some pubs are limiting this to one drink

So you do have to order food with your drink? Is that one plate of egg and chips and six pints per order then

By the way...no ulterior motive, not asking for a friend, etc....just a genuine question to a slightly puzzling issue.

Been in two so far and the 'Rule' is clear if you don't order a meal you cannot stay and order just a drink. Soft or Alcohol.

Drink with a meal only.

Go In order a meal (sandwich, jacket, steak whatever) stay for a couple of hours or so ... like you would if you went for a meal. A portion of chips and 6 hours drinking wouldn’t be in the spirit of things.

Like all these regulations they are vague and very inconstant and often illogical. Thats why it's getting worse because people are ignoring them because when you compare them they don't make sence. Ie you can't go and visit a friend in their house for a cup of tea. But a decorator could go in and paper the walls?? I read somewhere that a pub was offering two course meals for a £1... A bag of prawn cocktails crisps to start followed by fish and chip flavoured crisps for main course. Lol. I made it up actually

If this is the case, then they are just adding confusion to the mix. Will they ever learn to use the KISS principle?
