Lockdown what they really have to and leave business owners man their premises in a controlled environment. If they're seen to be not doing this shut them but dont punish every "non essential" business owner by punishing them with a L5 closure. |

Has anyone else noticed, that people suggesting lockdown are still going to be getting all the monies due to them, while the vast majority of the people are going to be hit hard with less money and even job losses |

"The WHO have advised in blunt terms against using lockdowns as a primary control measure."
They have advised as a last measure...all the measures that have been taken so far seem not to be working. |

"The WHO have advised in blunt terms against using lockdowns as a primary control measure."
The WHO advised against lockdown being used as a ‘primary’ control measure.
A two week circuit breaker is not classified as a ‘primary control measure’ |

To be pedantic over tags a circuit breaker is an electrical term not relevant to viruses does it matter what we call it and in all honesty its not down to what the government say we should do its down to the general public actually doing it which frankly many are not. |

It’s called a circuit breaker because it’s shorter and slightly less restrictive compared to the lockdown we had earlier in March. Both are lockdowns, but they use that term just to differentiate the two.
But as you and another poster rightfully said; it’s not what rules are being imposed, it’s whether the general public comply with those rules - that’s what will make the rules effective or not. |

Funny, everyone complied in the begining, remember the advise of quarantineing your post for 3 fucking days that lasted well lol.
It's easy to comply and do as your told when your being paid to. Some of us were never paid to comply and I would say the reason less are complying now is because less are being paid to. The same people that had no sympathy for my financial plight 7 months ago are now throwing hissy fits because they have finally realised the financial destruction they face that i faced in March.
Before the shity comments of I'm a bastard only thinking of myself, think of the old and vulnerable, I have and I do. I do everything I've been told to do and will continue to do so. |

You said everyone complied at the beginning because they got paid, and then go onto say not everybody got paid |

I think if they paid everyone that 500 quid for a fortnight of isolation then a lot more will comply. Then they will be justified in dishing out a heavy fine.
As it stands atm people who are in what they think is a safe group...will not even bother to get a test now as they truly cannot afford to take the hit...

You're quite correct
The primary methods are
Wash your hands
Cover your face
Social distancing
Problem is these three thing seem to be far too complicated so it's easier to tell people they can't go out. Must be a British thing .... |

I would have thought that those not being paid would be front of the queue to stop the spread, two weeks or whatever followed by full compliance should do it and there don't need to be any further lockdowns of longer periods and losing pay |

Or it's because lockdowns do nothing to accelerate the end of a pandemic, only delay infections whilst suffocating economic activity. |

Sadly. It's a World Wide Phenomenon of:
'Well that's actually really not convenient to me right now, because I really do want to go to the Pub or Meet other Swingers for full-on COVID sex'. |

And todays generation don't seem to accept that the guidelines are there to help everyone.
As in their view, it doesn't affect them, then they just carry on as normal and sod the rest of the world. |

Think it's a bit unfair to blame it all on young people.
And tbf if i was 18/19 I'd be pretty annoyed. |

No, in the begining most received 80% of there wage to sit at home and comply and could also take holiday payment on there mortgages, rent, credit cards, loans etc. Not anymore, it's now 3rd paid by government, 3rd paid by employer which employers can't afford and all payment holidays coming to an end with the realisation with interest they now owe more. |

Couldn't agree more, like I say, I (we) didn't get a free ride but explains simply why less comply now than when they were being paid to comply. |
