Imagine the horror, to realize the people partying in the streets of Liverpool, are probably the future of the country. Decided a quick minute of fun, is better than the safety of others

Can't really be too critical of them given that they have been nominated as being the guinea pigs of this latest scheme.

Given that it was their last night of (legally) being allowed to see their friends or family for an indefinite amount of time.

It was an absolutely stupid thing to do and there is mo excuse..I'm guessing a lot of them were students as it was a Tuesday night.

But imaging being 18,19,locked up for 4 months and now possibly another 6?

How would they know they are infected if they have no symptoms and / or don't go for a test?

They could end up spreading it to those they live with or work with. Probably spread it to someone who has been taking great care and not involved in the street party.

I think it is really stupid but look at this another way. Yes, there might well have been students involved but they might well have been the same kids that have just had their A levels fucked up followed by being ripped off by universities and rent to the greedy. As I say, I can't agree with what they have done but this years youngsters are getting a bit or a raw deal. They were probably just letting off steam (and covid unfortunately).

This..

Can't excuse the behaviours at all but they are seeing other areas with higher rates not being put in the same level of restrictions, they are most likely in the age range that is being hit the hardest and seeing their future prospects diminish..

If you check Twitter you’ll see plenty of videos from all parts of the country, partying in the streets etc..recently saw one from down south and they were playing cricket in the road.

As I suspect it would’ve mainly been students the majority not from Liverpool, it’s a bit unfair to have a go at the City.

To all, I didn't mean to have a go at Liverpool in anyway, just the stupid actions of people who don't seem to understand the reasons for the lock downs, yes it could be Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham, or London next. The simple fact is that it's stupid behaviour of a few, which affects the majority

Lpool bi fun, please read my most recent post, hoping this happens in other areas is not good, and before you try and come back, please note, one of my jobs was advising farther Tony, and the townhall security as to how we were redeveloping, or pedestrianizing the areas nearest to them. Liverpool is a good city, it does have problems, which every city has with jobsworths with lack of vision, but nail on the head, it is an influx of students into a confined area, i.e the mersey, with no control which has allowed a new take off of case's

What positives exactly? We're the part of the country struggling the most, and then kicking up the most fuss when something is remotely done to try and cull the problem. But noone wants to help themselves. Everybody knows best, and continues to go around their daily lives like the sun shines out of their arse.

Have you seen how many people round here are looking for "Sneaky subtle" meets during the new lockdown? I've reported every single last one of them and will continue to do so.

Why didn't they do this to us on Monday? Why give businesses false hope that they can continue when two or three days later, they might pull the plug? Here we've had the national lock down, an extra lock down with all hospitality closed in Aug/Sept and now possibly a third time. Think there is all sorts going on behind the scenes.

Rotherham is getting flak for bending over for them.

Be interesting to see if Burnham sticks to his guns (quite like burnham tbf)rotherham is doing his best to save lives rather than burnham he is more interested in political point scoring!"

So basically if you dont agree with the tier system you are point scoring?

Are the sage experts who have said it wont work point scoring?

"And how about the Gyms that refused to close and continue to do so. And the people who decide to go in and use the gyms?

Selfish and arrogant but I am sure their lifestyle would mean they were not part of last night's scenes..

Selfish and arrogant that they want to stay open in order to protect the business and livlihood that they have built from scratch and have been ordered to.close despite overwhelming evidence that barely any infections have been traced to them?

Selfish and arrogant that they wish to remain open as closing would be detrimental to their clients mental and physical health?"

"I think it is really stupid but look at this another way. Yes, there might well have been students involved but they might well have been the same kids that have just had their A levels fucked up followed by being ripped off by universities and rent to the greedy. As I say, I can't agree with what they have done but this years youngsters are getting a bit or a raw deal. They were probably just letting off steam (and covid unfortunately)."

Not just the young, my mum has been shielding since March. She has just got the nerves to venture out, then this happens in Liverpool.

North West

So interesting theories and there's no right or wrong to it

I hear stories of hospitals being at xx% capacity but don't hear what the actual numbers are

100% of 1 is 1

1% of 100 is 1

So why hasn't a major city like Liverpool (in fact all major conurbations) have one of these nightingale hospitals?

Why was arsen wenger allowed to do his show but the London palladium last night

Yes those that celebrated last night were utterly stupid but deadlines always create gung ho behaviour

Not sure what the solution is though but it's not just Liverpool out of control but from a vote winning (losing) position this government have little to lose in the North West especially Liverpool

Hey ho

Very true no way 2 weeks will work lucky if its 2 months feel sorry for the young

It was an absolutely stupid thing to do and there is mo excuse..I'm guessing a lot of them were students as it was a Tuesday night.

But imaging being 18,19,locked up for 4 months and now possibly another 6?

Disclaimer.. this isn't saying its right..but I dont blame them for being pissed off."

Don't feed the trolls mate. They're not awake yet. But when they do, Im sure they'll beaver away to make their tinfoil hats and respond to you.

Either that, or they're too emotionally drained and suffering from PTSD because they're being ordered to stay in and NOT go and break a sweat in the gym.

Same thing happened with people in the 40s when bombs were dropping on their heads. Refusing to do what they were told for the benefit of their safety, so they could carry on enjoying life above the underground stations, in amongst the rubble PTSD free

Some of those theories are not conspiracies though, it comes from being abandoned through the years.

Recently released official documents showed that Maragaret Thatcher wanted to put Liverpool in a "managed decline" following the Toxteth Riots. Luckily she was talked out of it by senior advisors.

Then there was the infamous Sun allegations following Hillsborough.

Why do you try to use the safety of others to take away personal liberty?

God bless them.

And sack Hancock.

There's now a petition signed by 35000 scientists and medics saying herd immunity is the only way. But petulant Hancock ignores it as he refuses to shake himself out of his stupor.

Intellectually and emotionally unsuited to the job. Sack him Boris.

The protests from Mayors and leaders of Manchester and Liverpool is either political opportunism or poor leadership.

Cases should have been concerning at 300, 400 and 500 (weeks before furlough ended), though nothing was heard at all, funding was being talked about but there was nothing on the impending health of communities. They have purposely put focus on businesses ahead of peoples lives.

The idea a 2-3 week circuit breaker seems an idea of last resort. It took upward of 2 months of full lockdown to gain covid numbers resembling any type of control. A 3 week lockdown will do nothing but hurt communities, businesses and have resulting economic impact.

Tried.

I haven't got a problem at all with central gmnt telling local politicians to do what they say without question...whilst ignoring scientific evidence.

It's what democracy is all about.
