North West

I did, but only after a LONG drawn out argument, because they were convinced I'd be vaccinated as a child (I wasn't). That's because my Grandmother had TB in the late 70s and was still recovering from everything when I was born in the 80s. Apparently I should have been vaccinated at birth. Then when they did the heaf test, it was inconclusive. Then they finally jabbed me and I have zero scar where it was done

I thought I missed out on it when I came to the UK but they very generously let me have it as part of the next school years vaccination programme.

Had the whole year queuing up to try and whack the scab off. Fun times.

"I had mine as a small child"

Me and my sister were told we didn't need it as have a natural immunity.

My niece and nephew were told the same.

Ohh ok apparently it stopped in 2005 and is given in a more targeted approach in small children.

I got confused because it's the HPV vaccine that is now given in year 9.

Yes boys are now getting it at the same time as the girls, apparently protects them from HPV and some forms of penial / anal cancers

I can only go by here and it is offered at school, a one time offer, not available at the GP apparently, they have two doses in year 8 one in September and the second one in June the following year

i think its throat cancers it helps prevent but yes fairly newly given to boys .., they originally went with the logic that by giving it to all the girls the boys wouldnt get it

Apparently it helps prevent the symptoms being too bad rather than stopping you getting it.

HPV is responsible for a lot of things, the injection only covers 4 strains of it and they were the ones mentioned in our handout
