"Keep seeing this North / South Divide thing going around What exactly does it mean? North stricter lockdown The south left untouched." Newcastle had 1453. Cases last week, That's 484 cases per 100,000. Liverpool had 2747 Cases last week, that's 555.2 cases per 100,000. Any Area in London has an average of 250 Cases last week and around 60 (avg) per 100,000. That is a huge difference between Northern and London.

" What I did was use my mouse to hover over borough areas and see what each case list was and also per 100,000. Then I went and did the same with Liverpool and Newcastle. The Liverpool and Newcastle give a total figure but London is divided up into its Boroughs on the map (so you don't get a whole of London figure. I also averaged up not down. But it would also show that the average across London as a whole is much lower than the any Northern City under the current 'proposed' restrictions. Here is a link to the Map (scroll down). https://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-millions-could-be-banned-from-socialising-under-new-restrictions-12101371 You can also zoom the map by using Ctrl and you mouse wheel.

"It is quite clear what is happening. Boris and his gang are sneaking up North when no one is looking, painting themselves orange with 5ft eyelashes and just spouting "Erm, erm alright der la"..spreading the virus, because "No ones gonna tell me what do do" jump on the Milk train back down South and in the morning bash up the Northerners on the News threatening to give them a really hard time. Or you can wake up and smell the Coffee and blame it on some of the people that know that by going out on the lash, will keep it going for everyone. Do we blame it on their human rights, perhaps for their mental wellbeing, but if this Country doesn't get a grip soon, it will be locked down, many more will lose their jobs, but hey dont worry lets just tell Boris and Co, please fund our lives" S'funny I must have dreamt all those pics of crowded Parks and streets in London a few months ago. You realise the post i was replying too was political?" If it makes you feel any easier, I am a Northerner, Born in Lancashire and lived most of my adult life in Yorkshire. This isn't about Politics, Blue or Red, it is about a very dangerous virus that is killing people. It is not about a Government, spreading a Virus. It is about the people that are doing it, whether or not you agree, it is a fact. The Government wouldn't have to take action, if we ALL follow the rules. Of course big mistakes have occurred, none of us have ever been here before. We can all sit here and judge and tell them, where we believe they have gone wrong. We are not the ones making the decisions. If the Opposition were in Power, would they have done it all differently. So far all we have heard is....We will wait until the Tories do something, then we will tell them they have got it wrong, the Opposition haven't come up with a plan either, because if they did and it didnt work, the knives would be drawn for them too. This is about behaviour of the people, it isn't rocket science. It is not the North vs the South, the Tories Vs Labour. LETS FACE IT WE ALL SEE ON HERE PEOPLE STILL MEETING EACH OTHER. Draconian it might be, but it needs to happen. The Rules are for the obedience of Fools and for the Guidance of Wise men.

I wouldn’t believe a word any of them said, be it Johnson, Forbes or your lot down there, they all spin it for their political gain but it does look like there is dialogue, contrary to your earlier claim. I think Burnham was on Thursday..and steve rotherham was on Friday..so even if the dialogue began on Friday night..why was the story leaked to the rag last week? It's not just those 2..many politicians are saying they have been left in the dark and plenty are not happy. Indeed, our local leader Forbes being one of them. Unfortunately his counterpart across the river, and I would imagine unwittingly as they are of the same political persuasion, showed this to be utter bollocks!" Are they not aware of the telephone?
"loval government in the each area are making the decision... why are you angry at westminister or the south in general for what liverpool council are implementing? They are not making the decision Joe Anderson, steve rotherham and Andy Burnham have all said they have not been consulted so I'm really not sure where you are getting this from. It's not like the north east Forbes, the leader of Newcastle City Council claimed that they hadn’t been consulted either only for Gateshead’s leader to say that the current restrictions were what they had asked for but didn’t go far enough! So, was Forbed telling porkies? Dunno? But every local media outlet here is reporting that politicians are furious about being kept in the dark,so I've no idea where this is coming from. According to the latest on the BBC website, Steve Rotherham has said that “ no deal has been agreed” and that “negotiations were ongoing”. So much for being kept in the dark! I'd post a link but you cant on here. He was on 5 live on Friday saying he was completely in the dark. I believe talks have been ongoing today. According to the same article, it says government ministers have not been in touch with Manchester’s political leaders since Friday. So much for Burnham’s claims too then! Surely that backs up his claims? On the contrary, it suggests that they were in dialogue on Friday evening. I would imagine so, just not clever enough to sing from the same hymn sheet
"I've heard or read 3 people say in the last 24 hours that it doesnt exist. Whilst I fully understand people are suffering..mentally,econoinacally etc it still seems a bit of a jump to deny its existence. " Alas there are still many thick people in this world they also probably believe the word is flat and the stork delivers babies.

"Once again, Newcastle had 1453. Cases last week, That's 484 cases per 100,000. Liverpool had 2747 Cases last week, that's 555.2 cases per 100,000. Any Area in London has an average of 250 Cases last week and around 60 (avg) per 100,000. That is a huge difference between Northern and London. Arguing Politics is entirely another matter, COVID-19 isn't a Politician. It's just a fact like the figures above." I'm not saying the virus doesn't exist but these numbers are not as transparent as they seem to get a true idea you need to know the amount of people being tested in each area not just the population..the London numbers are split into boroughs compared to big cities or town so if only two thousand people lets say in barking and Dagenham for example was tested then this will show a low number compared to if the whole hundred thousand or more was tested in the whole of Liverpool And there has been a test shortage down south and people have been sent up north for testing so would they be recorded where they was tested or where they live? So everyone needs remember the advice that people are giving other people just because you have seen it on the internet don't just blindly believed it do your own research question everything!

"I am not a Corona denier but i understand why people are saying it doesn't exist. We live in a small town on the verge of local restrictions, the next town along is also facing restrictions. Everyone around here knows eaxh other, is related, connected in some way, yet no one actually seems to know anyone who is infected or got ill. There are always stories and rumours but that is often it. It is all very strange, especially the situation at the local hospital where everyone has a friend or relative who works there. It is a very odd pandemic indeed." Up until last week i knew of only one person, a colleague in Manchester whos had it since March and has still not returned to work. Fast forward a week and I have it, my daughter has it, her boyfriend has it, my step mum has it...and my dear dear dad is currently on oxygen steroids and IV antibiotics because of it. My brother who is a complete and utter racist misogynistic and conspiracy theory spouting nut thinks its not as bad as it sounds and that the government just want to control us and chip us etc etc...i actually hope part of the governments plan is to chip folk like him right in his bollocks!

I wonder if that’s because hospitalisations tend to follow a week or two after high infection rates and in your area the rates are still low, Norwich for instance is around 48 cases per 100,000, a position that the North West hotspots were in 6 weeks ago. Now Liverpool is a couple of days away from running out of hospital beds. Like this pandemic people’s attitudes to it are very odd, especially the seemingly inability to see that just because in their area the hospitals aren’t affected it doesn’t mean they won’t be. Very odd people.

Very odd people. We were 95 cases per 100,000. 100 cases per 100,000" Oh, I had a look at an article published on Saturday in the Lowestoft Journal where it showed Norwich at 57.6 per 100,000 (up from 48, I apologise for my error) whereas Merseyside has 685 cases per 100,000. It’s the nature of this very odd virus to be very infectious and then for people to end up in hospital, which actually isn’t very odd to be honest. What is very odd is people’s seeming unwillingness to see what is happening.

But anyway we do see what is happening, our community being financially decimated for a virus that seems to not be as deadly as first thought and Sweden doing great despite no lock down measures. These a poor and struggling towns that rely on seasonal income and small businesses, many which are now gone. Coronavirus isn't going anywhere and a cure or vaccine isn't going to ve with us anytime soon, if ever. So how long do we carry on ruining our economy? But my original point was simply this. I totally understand those around here who are angry and dont believes it is real. "Population density. Population make up. Places of leisure. Poverty levels. That’s a lot of p’s I’m not sure it’s Uni’s I’m within ten miles of at least four and the areas doing ok. " I think you are pretty close here, there is a pattern especially on population density, where we live it's 480 people per square mile and 76 cases per 100k, London is around 5k people per square mile 250 per 100k, and Liverpool is 11k per square mile and approx 600+ cases per 100k. Bet if you looked up Nottingham, Newcastle, and all the others with high numbers and looked up those with low numbers too most will follow a similar pattern
