If the number of statuses on here looking to meet strangers is a guide, yep lockdown will follow and Christmas cancelled for many children and elderly people. |

I think it will have a new name, a marketing led slant but... yes it’s already in the post.
Circuit breaker I believe was the term floating around last week. |

Another lockdown will only produce a temporary result. As soon as you reopen the economy again (if anything is left after a 2nd lockdown) infections will start to increase again.
Am not saying there wont be a 2nd or shouldn't be a 2nd lockdown, just think it wont solve the problem |

No. Another lockdown would be too expensive and too destructive in the longer term. Plus it would be less adhered to than previously.
The threat of another full lockdown is a blunt tool the govt will use to beat the population into compliance with the latest regulations whilst shifting the blame for the rise in infections. |

We'll be going around in circles until there is a vaccine! |

If a safe and working vaccine is successfully rolled out and if the virus doesn't mutate seasonally.
I do worry that people are too fixated with a "silver bullet" solution. |

if focussing on a silver bullet gets people through for now i say let them... for many they need to feel the current situation is temporary ... a hump to get over if you want and they need that silver bullet on the horizon to aim towards
if it materialises that it wont work for whatever reason (because it is all ifs and maybes just now - nobody can say for sure if we will get a vaccine but they also cant say for sure we wont) then the strategy, narrative and coping mechanisms can change when that time comes |

If we did go into a second lockdown, look at it this way, more people might stay home as during the first lockdown we had some lovely weather, now we are heading into autumn and winter, not so many people will want to socialise, have bbqs, go to the beach and what have you.
Everyone that wanted one has got the hot tubs to keep themselves off the streets and their outdoor bars etc, I mean people still might not follow the rules but won't be large numbers like before.

I don't think we need a national lockdown if the NHS isn't overwhelmed.
The last time my uncle went to the hospital during lockdown he never seen it so quiet.

I think that it's inevitable that we will need to lockdown very soon, due to the exponential growth rate in infections that seems to be underway. Locking down too late last time caused potentially 10-20,000 more deaths than we needed to have suffered.
Johnson doesn't want to, hence shuttling pubs at 10pm instead, so that they can still get some income.
Lockdown without sufficient quantity of testing that gives 24hour results, as well as a fast effective tracing operation, misses the full benefits of lockdown.
Lockdown stops new increases in infections but needs the other parts to maximise the effects. |

People pissing themselves to have another lockdown must all work in the public sector, getting paid if working or not !
Us people in the private sector are seeing our jobs destroyed to protect a government that has basically fucked up throughout this pandemic !
Look at Germany, getting back to normal because they got their track and trace working from day one as well as putting sensible restrictions in place that the population could adhere to.
Our Government has not handled this well and I’m not impressed by the ‘you are all naughty people’ attitude from Tuesday nights address !
I didn’t ask millions of people to fly into this country during a pandemic without quarantine until 14 weeks after lockdown started !
I didn’t announce in April that masks had no effect on controlling the virus whilst pretty much the rest of Europe wore them.
I didn’t tell people ‘eat out to help out’ without realising that that would increase the rate of infections.
I’m not a political but our government have made so terrible errors of judgement and we are all now suffering because of it !
As for anyone in the public sector thinking about pay rises anytime soon, forget it, without the private sector taxes this country is on its arse, more lockdowns, more businesses go bust, less taxes into the revenue.

A lockdown doesn’t work. This has already been proved. The strategy the government are employing is fundamentally flawed. Herd immunity is the only realistic way out of this. Eventually common sense will hopefully prevail. Trying to suppress and control the virus is pointless. Protect the vulnerable and achieve natural immunity through the population. |

I don't think they will do the same lockdown as they did in March as all indoor premises that are open should be covid secure and have suitable social distancing in place.
I think he will go for households and him asking us all to stay at home and only leave for work or essential shopping in half term, to stop the kids mixing before they go back in November |

I just don't get it. I try and support our govt I really do. But if it's needed it's needed (and in my opinion it's needed and it's already 3 weeks too late).
But in true style, they'll announce it for 2 weeks time. So the wankers will all go out on the piss like they are never going to see another alcoholic drink again. Exacerbating the whole thing. Go quick, go hard and get it done. What's this nonsense about waiting till half term week? Genuinely pathetic. |

This
I can’t believe so many people are still in here looking for meets, and not a care for social distancing! You see them post when they are looking and post afterwards! We live in a world where people want what they want and don’t give a shit what they have to do to get it even if that means the whole nation suffering! To many selfish idiots that believe they should just have what they want! Either another national lockdown or worse I think! Sorry rant over FAB isn’t it time to start banning the piss takers ! |

That’s true. But if when you exit lockdown you have an effective track & trace in place, then you will be able to control the virus spread without the need to go back into lockdown.
It also helps if the public acts sensibly and responsibly. Lack of adherence to advice and guidance also increases the virus spread.

Track and trace is pointless when the virus is endemic. You're chasing shadows. |

Lockdown won’t achieve anything just ruin anything we have left, people just need to keep clean and be careful and respect others? Stopping you seeing your family is rediculous because you wouldn’t risk making them ill if you had symptoms you would stay at home surely ?
Same as weddings why are they restricted, again only your best friend and family would be present so they surely wouldn’t attend if they felt unwell |

Hence the reason for lock down and other restrictions - to bring the virus numbers down to a level where track & trace can become effective. |

Sadly, we're way past that being achievable now because it's endemic. Once it's endemic a lockdown doesn't work. |

I think this government is starting to buckle under pressure, they really need to change there name because they're certainly not conservative, more like a centrist liberal party flip flopping around at the slightest mention of granny killer!
They need a backbone, I don't wish to be run by spineless people with no integrity or genuine vision and who's only grasp of wether they think there doing right is likes on social media, it's getting quite pathetic now. |
