So what will be the downside?, which bits of the economy aren't going to survive 6 more months of restrictions, paranoia and fear.
Airline industry, hospitality, pubs and restaurants, cinemas, travel industry, skiing, leisure centers, vehicle manufacturers, retail, housing, white water rafting in New Zealand
.
I really fancied that last one as well ![](/icons/s/2/halo.gif) |

Be cheaper to stop all overseass travel pay all the airlines and staff and then less problems so less for NHS to deal with and hospitality industry can carry on.Just divert the rescue packages to the travel industry.
I bet are soft polititions are terrified to do this because people would moan so much they cannot go to Spain etc.All decisions are being made for all the wrong reasons.

"6 months will take its toll on even the healthiest of sectors. The only ones that are winning at the moment are ppe manufacturers and funeral directors. "
Well, the ones who have PPE *contracts*, at least: many millions have gone to companies with no expertise in healthcare (but coincidentally very close links to Dominic Cummings & the Conservatives...) |

Specifically, £15 billion to (among others) companies specialising in pest control, a confectionery wholesaler and an opaque private fund owned through a tax haven.
Yup - because all of them *clearly* have healthcare expertise.... |

Its more like chopping your cancerous balls off to save your life, has to be done but fertility is gonna be sacrificed ![](/icons/s/confused.gif) |

It's going to be years before aviation gets going properly again. Every time someone gets a cold they're going to shut down air travel until they've proved it's not a new strain of covid. There will be false alarm after false alarm. |

Yup, we’re royally fucked.
Almost as effective as a world war this shower of shite.
Could be looked at as a total reset.
Control of society.
Reduction in pollution and waste.
End of zero-hour contracts (hopefully).
Track & trace everyone.
Stop binge drinking and reduce alcohol related violence.
Identify dodgy self employed after they claim furlough.
Stay at home holidays (grow your own tourism economy).
Reduce University student admissions (why bother? You can’t get pissed or get a job afterwards).

Staycations are good. Why go overseas and expose yourself to 49:100000 foreign Covid-19 when you can get homegrown 70.6:100000 pure British Covid-19 right here? |

The a "great reset" or "say goodbye to your personal pension fund" for the greater good of world wide equality. |

Well they've blown through the 2 trillion debt mark with a record 178 billion deficit in six months.
If anybody thought the austerity and cutbacks to the NHS was bad for the last ten years then you ain't seen nothing yet!.
The spring budget is going to be a massacre. ![](/icons/s/sad.gif) |

"6 months will take its toll on even the healthiest of sectors. The only ones that are winning at the moment are ppe manufacturers and funeral directors. " That's a bold statement I'm in construction and the company I work for are flat out with work struggling to employ enough skilled workers, we worked all the way through lock down and certainly seems no stopping the work load keep getting more and more work coming in.
