Rule of 6 is very clear

Jump to: Newest in thread

Says a squirming Hancock on the Marr Show.

He wouldn't directly respond to Andrew's question regarding Boris not wanting a "sneak" effect of neighbours snitching on others, so was fluffing through list of authority figures that would engage with the people. So the question became: would you snitch on neighbours? Guess what, Hancock SAYS he would.

What politicians (and advisers) say and do are very different. We cannot expect them to lead by example!

Take Cummings, for example.

Please, take Cummings.

Wiltshire and London

I’d be interested in that if I were one of Hancock’s neighbours. But guess what, his neighbours are probably similarly entitled and would get a polite knock on the door from plod, rather than getting their door battered down by the SPG as any of us plebs could expect.

What about rules of grammar? They’re even easier to follow for people of normal intelligence, in theory, as you’ve been clear on how to apply them in practice your whole life.

And yet...

Close contact with infected people means others are very likely to be infected.

The fewer people who are in close contact, the smaller the risk.

More people in groups = higher infection spread.

People taking the piss about the numbers or locations are the problem.

We own a pub and this week alone we have had to cancel 150 covers due to the new laws.

Our regulars are now going to each others houses in groups of 10-20 people and blatantly breaking the rules...havent yet, but very tempted to snitch.

Why do we have to follow the laws, but others don't?

no its not clear at all. We in the north east have been put in stricter regulations. No rule of 6 for us but yet we can have 20000 students descend on durham and 40000students descend on Newcastle from God knows where. Do you think for one moment these, will stick to any social distancingand not go partying in one another's houses. If the idea, is to reduce the infection rate then why allow this. There is a, lot of confusion, anger and division up this way. Oh I forgot it isnt about people's health up here it's, about the money that is generated from this that matters most. I am sorry you can't have both. We, should have remained in full lockdown till Christmas and not this balls up we now have

Just out of curiosity, how would the police know that there is more than six in a house, do they have the powers to force entry or enter your property without a warrant on the say so of somebody?

You don’t have to follow the laws - but then you risk the consequences of not doing so, like everyone else.

Presumably you don’t want to take that risk.

No, they don't. Guy on radio refused entry to police and told them to go and sort out all the people getting stabbed at the moment. (I.e. Proper crime)

Section 17 of the Police And Criminal Evidence act covers this. Generally they answer is no, however there are circumstances when they can.

So, if you have a neighbour everyday comes out on his motorbike, pulls a wheelie past your house where your 6 year old child plays, putting you all in danger. Would you or would you not inform the police said person is putting others at risk??

Not on fab anyways. Apparently it's no of our business what others do.

It seems to be considered ok by the majority that its none of ones business untill someone gets hurt, sadly it's too late then.

It would seem people's selfish individual rights supercede anyone else. People have really lost the plot with personal rights and sadly society is going to pay for it, not just now but longer term.

Have taken car keys from a friend who was intent on driving after a skin full..

Would have no qualms whatsoever with phoning the police if in a similar situation and the person would not listen and drove off..

Yea it's a bit rich to call 'holier than tho' by degrees.

When in truth most would call the police to an incident outside their own house involving more than a few people.

A vivid but incorrect imagination.

You can be arrested if naked I'm your home and visible to anyone who doesn't want to see.

Police can issue a fine if they suspect you have more than 6 in your house and refuse to cooperate

You can be done for d*unk driving without actually driving.

Police cannot issue a fine for what you do in your own private home, what part of private dont you get????

The minute the police step foot on my private property its a trespass, trespass is a common law offence which trumps any secondary legislation.

Now then they have two laws that conflict, the Public Health Act which was put in place back in 84 if memory serves me right and i it covered pandemics such as COVID 19. Now because they want us to beLIEve this is a much serious virus, they made up theis Public Health Act Corona Virus legislation to which the Public Health Act which is the main primary legislation, they forgot to repeal.

Our neighbours called the police out on us. We had 3 friends(that live together) round and we were in the hot tub in the garden. Because we live rurally and we’re laughing and having fun( no music) our neighbours thought we were having a house party. Police came round to check in two cars (4 policemen). They came into the garden and made the amount of people 9 .

Now we didn’t mind as they are doing their job but the police will get inundated with extra unnecessary calls and wasted time.

This happened at 8pm as well and the police travelled 20 minutes from the station . And spent 20 minutes at the house. So an hour of wasted police time .

Clearly they must have filled their quota of daily speeding tickets and had some time on their hands. Clearly no inclination to tackle an actual crime like a burglary or a mugging for example.

This happened at 8pm as well and the police travelled 20 minutes from the station . And spent 20 minutes at the house. So an hour of wasted police time .

But you can only have 6 people.

If you don't want the police to waste their time you could always stick to the rules.

I did. It says they came into the garden and made the amount 9 people. "

Ohhh

"Our neighbours called the police out on us.

It would appear they were following the rules, the neighbours got it wrong, thus wasting police time. They should have charged the neighbours with that at the very least.

Erm did you read it though ? Only 5 people at the house. The 4 police then made it 9 .

Why yes i understand that I misread it about the numbers but they still broke the rules by not socially distancing and yes I get the neighbours were over zealous but they don't deserve to be charged.

"Openly asking the public to snitch on their fellow citizens is the most disgusting part of all this."

There are a few neighbours, I am itching to grass up. They have pissed me off for a while, time to enjoy the payback.

Lets hope those that can't understand the rule of 6, haven't annoyed too many neighbours then.

That's not necessarily true if the hot tub had a 2m diameter

No worries , we were socially distancing. Me and my other half were in the tub and they were sat in deck chairs. We were more loud than normal as were shouting over the noise of the tub bubbles so we could hear each other. The police said we were doing nothing wrong.
