Says Hancock on the Marr Show.
Like frigging mud, Sir!
Matt had said earlier, that you have to get tested if contacted by track n trace I you've been near someone who tested positive. A bit later he states only those with symptoms should test. So, yeah it's clear - if you've been near someone who has been tested positive but you've not been contacted by TnT, then don't seek a test. If contacted by TnT, do. FFS.
Apparently average daily testing is 200,000 with capacity of 250,000. Errrrrm then a logical person would ask why testing isn't fulfilling its capacity when over that figure are trying to get tested?
Bloody politicians! |

"We will have a new testing lab "in weeks". How many weeks ? 52 weeks ?"
We need more than one. BTW, will they have the staff to man it. We know that things are only often seen to be done to appease the minions but when you dig a bit, the truth emerges. Just like the Nightingales - all those beds, wonderful, but staff with the right training? Shhhh don't ask and certainly don't ask why the removal of the London Nightingale in the light of infections doubling every 8 days |

Oddly enough - There isn't one three word slogan or government change in policy that I haven't understood since the whole thing began.
I suspect that most choose NOT to understand simply because it's just too damned inconvenient to their old lifestyle/s - to their politics - or because they think it will get a popular response on forums/facebook/instagram et-al.
We all need to mature a bit and stop pretending - read between the lines and work thing out for yourselves.
After all if a Politician makes himself/herself look like a dick - no point in making yourself look like a dick too is there.
Just sayin'

Sometimes the confusion occurs with bumbling clarification.
Sometimes there are apparent contradictions.
Sometimes the most appropriate word is not used.
Sometimes we follow by example Cummings dear .
Some messages maybe ambiguous to some people.
Some people do not have the capacity to understand.
Some people don't want to understand.
I might come back with others. |

Sometimes the confusion occurs with bumbling clarification. - Not seen Anything that I haven't been able to work through and understand myself or look at another source and understand it by cross-reference.
Sometimes there are apparent contradictions. - The Same above - Work out the best course that is safe for yourself and others.

Some people do not have the capacity to understand. - Those people probably wouldn't be watching an interview on TV anyway.
Some people don't want to understand. - Which is what I said.

I believe that the vast majority of the Government actions make no difference whatsoever. The virus is going to do what it is going to do and eventually it is going to go away, whether that be weeks, months, or years from now. Human intervention may make small differences to the rate and speed at which this thing spreads, but the end result will ultimately be remarkably similar whatever strategy was followed.
When it is eventually all over - and it will be, Boris, Matt & co want to claim all the credit, triumphantly declaring that thanks to everything they have done, we've beaten the virus with all our "world beating" methods. The more measures they put in place, the more credit they can take. |

Here here.
I accept some would never accept the politics of those they disagree with, and it appears the country has lost the ability to think for itself, wanting absolute clarity on absolutely everything, when all that is required is apply common sense - which many seem to have a problem with!
No government was ever going to get all of this right, and can’t help feeling they are dammed if they do and dammed if they don’t. There is little wonder they will not commit to answering questions, when journalists are waiting to take apart absolutely everything they say and hold it against them, just to score points! - some journalists behave disgracefully.
It is easy for us ‘armchair politicians’ to sit here and pontificate!!

You are correct - but that’s not because government actions cannot make any difference, as we can observe markedly better responses and results as a result of government actions around the world.
We, however, have a government that is incompetent at best and criminally negligent at worst, and so their actions will have few positive results in preventing the effects of this virus. |

Every action taken *does* make a difference.
The actions don’t completely eradicate the virus, but they reduce the spread of it - which in turn reduces the number hospitalisations, reduces the number of deaths and reduces those who would suffer from Long Covid.
The worst decision to make - is to take no action at all. |

Bumbling clarification - even ministers agree that guidance has caused confusion, hence the rule of 6 (with exemptions).
Apparent contradictions - the testing if you've been near someone who has tested positive, or not.
Work out what's best for you - personally yes of course but I'm the empathetic sort that can see where issues may arise for some, and oddly enough expect the govt to be able to through the extended team, ministerial or otherwise.
Cummings - you personally may decide not to follow his example, but others will. You really think it's all about you in the sense that you're typical of the population? I know I'm not, but even as a child I could see "the other side of the story". So just because I can see it others can? Absolutely not. |

A Vaccine will be found - but like flu people will choose to take it or not - many will die like they do with flu and associated sub causes. Many will let others die because they haven't protected themselves like they do with flu.
Maybe. Just Maybe - the World will wake up to the fact that we all need to give just a bit of a sh*t about those around us and stop arguing anyway BUT to.

I think I've had it too - but I have also had flu more than once in my life and still get a Vaccine each year. Flu after all is very infectious and puts those at risk, at risk of death.

"Oddly enough - There isn't one three word slogan or government change in policy that I haven't understood since the whole thing began.
Just sayin'
very well said the fact is covid is here no one saw it coming and as yet there is no cure

I'm historically anti Tory but fair. You're right, no govt is or would be getting it all right and we minions will damn them. Sadly though the top ministers couldn't wait to spout out about our world leading x, y and z. And now have egg on their faces. And then they made commitments, but instead of apologising, they change the goal posts testing done to testing capacity, but even then they are failing to meet their targets. Targets Boris said he wouldn't make again, then did in the conference over a week back (500,000 daily tests).
Still, my new improved anti Toryism won't stop me adhering to the advice - not cos the govt says so, but cos it's the right thing to do. |

We are not waiting for a cure. A vaccine or treatment can be found.
A vaccine was found for flu; and there are treatments in the form of drugs for HIV.
So yes, vaccines and treatments have been found for viruses.
Again I ask, what makes you think it is impossible for a vaccine or treatments to be found for covid ??

Because SARS didn’t spread globally to the same extent like this one, and it also mutated to something weaker, so there was no need to throw millions into research for a vaccine.
And the fact that a vaccine was not found for SARS, is *not* proof that one can’t be found for covid. |

"I believe that the vast majority of the Government actions make no difference whatsoever.
“...... I believe that the vast majority of the Government actions make no difference whatsoever....”
——————————-
Every action taken *does* make a difference.
The actions don’t completely eradicate the virus, but they reduce the spread of it - which in turn reduces the number hospitalisations, reduces the number of deaths and reduces those who would suffer from Long Covid.
The worst decision to make - is to take no action at all. "
The strategies give scientists time to gather more information, more treatments, and, hopefully, a vaccine whilst reducing risk, reducing transmission. And if we're really lucky, the creeping up towards herd immunity. |

Yup - it's the most scary scenario of all - but somehow we have found a way to keep it at it's minimum by affirmative action.
We will find a way - will will have to. Keep the Faith. |

All - just still an excuse NOT to do the blindingly obvious. "
For you and I, but others?

And if everyone follows that approach it will it will make a difference in controlling the spread. We can’t rely on government alone, we need to play our own part too. A concerted effort from both the government and the populace will make a difference. |

To be fair, there wasn't the global funding for it like for cv19. And a vaccine is looking likely. Hancock reckons it's likely to be early next year. I hope he's right. |

With Regard to SARS . . .
'Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) is a respiratory illness that affected many people worldwide in 2003. It was caused by a coronavirus, called SARS-associated coronavirus (SARS-CoV). SARS was first reported in Asia in February 2003. The illness spread to 29 countries, where 8,096 people got SARS and 774 of them died. The SARS global outbreak was contained in July 2003. Since 2004, there have not been any known cases of SARS reported anywhere in the world.'
