.

How many people travel about after 10pm anyway, If you can only go the pub with the people that live in your house why not just shut them ?

On another note can you travel outside a lockdown area ?

Means people can start getting pissed earlier and then sneak back earlier to a private residence to continue reduced priced drinking behind closed doors. I assume?

It's because the Gov. can't / won't shut businesses so they have to think of something.

So they will blame everything non-business related.

In the specific case of pubs shutting it so the pubs can stay open yet Gov. can say they have done something about the pub problem.

...Up on the Downs

They're just trying to stop big parties, raves and the like - they have been identified as causing a lot of infection in the young right now. If they go down the pub, the publican is responsible.

it doesnt matter, there is nobody to police it anyway, the gov can make as much noise as they like, but without meens to police new measures, its just noise.

You can't just jump straight into martial law, you have to start slowly and work your way up, that way nobody panics and jumps out of the pan

Several jobs I used to be out and about after ten, whether it was commuting to and from work or actually working in different locations in one night.

I noticed today the gov refused to implement the curfew in Leeds, I wonder why that might be, trouble and agro in the streets maybe?

I bet any money they won't do it in London either,

May work in rural areas but in big city centres. Not a chance,

A ten o clock closure will be tough in those clubs that are struggling to stay open as social venues

What's the point of any curfew or restrictions?

A virus will spread in it's normal pattern through the host species. Any tinkering with trying to stop the spread merely alters the rate of transmission until community immunity or a vaccine comes along.

Sweden have proved that (Very basic and obvious) fact. You cannot have zero Covid unless, for example, you isolate yourself on an island like New Zealand - where at some point (if a vaccine doesn't come along) you have to decide to rejoin the party.

Time to follow the real science.

An island say... Like the UK... Slightly smaller than NZ...

I’m not so sure about Schools because springing it on the parents like that when they are trying to keep the economy going. But I think you maybe right on a two week break on Pubs and restaurants.

Pubs won't shut, most they will do is the ten o'clock thing across the board, then folks will just go all day benders next weekend.

I've heard that the schools are prepping the kids for distance learning.

But that is just hearsay as they say

What ghastly world do you inhabit.? Where people have so little self control that they must go on a bender weekend in the middle of a national crisis rather than take a little responsibility for their actions and understand the world is bigger than their next alcoholic drink? I give people a bit more credit than that.
