Whats the general thoughts on going for massage
Jump to: Newest in thread
Just wondering with all the bans and the rules and the like for Covid .. what is the situation about going for a massage sports or any other kind ? I should imagine shops /parlours etc are back open now ? but are they safe to visit ?
Though I wonder how busy they are if at all ? Do the masseuer/se have to wear hazchem suits?;)
Has anyone used one since the lockdown ? does anyone offer them near me feel free to message tee hee .
Seriously though .Just a bit of a 'random' thought I suppose .. but when a thought comes into your head you have to ask what people think don't you ?

I went to my osteopath 2 weeks ago, masks were worn and hand gel available. But I think the masks were mostly for show as when they are manipulating your body you are close and breathing (ahem) heavily
I only went because I was in pain, don't think I would go for a relaxing massage |

Yes- I went for several sessions with my osteopath and he wore a mask, disinfected everything and so on. I felt perfectly safe and comfortable. |

I don't see much issue unless sweating like a pig. The practitioner will want to stay in business and will have ensured hygiene measures were in place, even before the epidemic. Some improvements since and both clients and practitioner being freshly clean, with use of sanitiser etc, the main issue could be eyes, if masks are worn. Pop some goggles on and I'd have no problem for a non-sexual professional service |

"Hi I'm a professional masseuse and stopped working 2 weeks before lock down and I have no intention on going back to work till it's safe to do so x"
Intertsting reply .. I dont want to pry too deeply into your business.. but isn't it taking a bit of a battering over the last 6 months? You seem quite confident that you don't consider it safe .. which is of course your right to do . However, I would be wondering when exactly will it be safe? what would the 'condition' be that was needed to be met before you would return ? Doesn't the current situation more or less suggest another 12 months at least before any ' normality' is back ? so you would be staying closed then I suppose?
I have done some digging around my local area and it seems one or two places are open . However, a lot are still closed . Presumably for the same reasons are you are .. some quite uncertain times we are living in for sure . :/ |

I agree with you . I don't think businesses can afford to stay shut forever . The same as everything else .We have to open up , take the risk and keep going . Otherwise we are all done for anyway . Financially and economically at least :/
I was trying to picture the 'outfit' someone would have to wear .. I'm guessing mask, gloves, apron, goggles etc .. It would feel very surreal and a bit like being in a gonzo movie I think |

" I've been helping my friend who is a trainee for beauty and she has been doing massages. Had 3 hot stone ones... and 4 normal ones.
They wore a mask and I did except for certain parts of it |

i’ve been having physio massages over the past month as I broke my back in March and was unable to receive any treatment due to lockdown. My physio is great and allows me to take my mask off when i’m laying face down for treatments, i’ve had no concerns about going to see her |

I go for a deep tissue massage every month since they were allowed to reopen in July. I get sent a covid questionnaire the night before, she checks my temperature, there is hand sanitiser, she wears a face shield I wear a mask, the sheet and head area (horseshoe shaped disposable cloth) is changed after every client. I feel perfectly safe. Towels are no longer allowed to be used but you can bring your own. |
