People have forgotten that even with group gatherings unless it is members of your household or your support bubble we still should be social distancing.

Well since high class hookers are billable to the taxpayer as "Computer lessons" I guess it is considered a "work activity".

They may be trying to stay 1meter apart but it’s not working so I’m sure it won’t be long before all pubs at closed again" . Don’t see that happening. The country can simply no longer afford to go on destroying jobs and businesses or paying them to stay closed. We’ve spent thousands of millions of pounds and all it’s done is delay the inevitable.

And its not just the lessons as such there is a massive service system to support a uni, far beyond the teaching that requires an awful lot of unavoidable mingling.

"And in Doncaster today we have approx 3500 people per day attending the races for the next 4 days. Couldn't make it up.. " 9000 people a day go through the turnstiles at Alton Towers every single day 11000 at Thorpe Park. Trafford Center has a daily footfall of 18000 people . . . it's not how many people there are, it's how they behave.

It appears that when they track and trace people are getting it from gatherings in peoples home rather than out and about.

As these cases rise, the virus will spread through he community into older people and deaths will begin to rise again. If we completely ignored the virus and went about our lives as normal, the economy would still suffer, because a lot of the workforce would become ill and therefore unable to work, and we would also have tens of thousands of extra deaths too.

Why do we need the government to tell us how many people we are allowed to socialise with? Even though there is no limit on how many co-workers a person can have around them? Why do people feel the need to be infantilised and babysat by the government instead of using their own common sense and good judgement? Where did the six people rule come from? Why not eight? Ten? Four? Is this another number plucked from thin air? How are the fines going to work? In a group of eight will they all be fined? Only two? Or will they split the bill? Will this apply to BLM and XR demonstrations? If so how? Will protesters have to protest in groups of six only?

There is no comparison to the risk they pose in spreading the virus. I'd rather have a bit of sport to watch on TV. The two lads who broke the rules in Iceland were fined a substantial amount, publicly humiliated and kicked out of the squad.

So you disagree with protecting people because government policy is arbitrary and/ or incoherent? Apparently some people do need to be told. Like we do with any of the other hundreds of thousands of laws which guide our behaviour in modern Britain. My life since March. Protests I've been to: zero. Maximum group I've been a part of: three (outside, all 2+ metres apart). Private homes I've visited apart from my own: zero. Pubs I've been to: zero. Restaurants and cafes: one. I don't need to be told. I also don't need to be told not to kill people (in general not just related to pandemic) - should we take the laws against murder and manslaughter off the books because it's insulting to think that people don't know not to kill people?

" Why is this question being asked like no one knows the answer. In 1920 the world learned what was required to stop the Spanish Flu. Since January 2020 we have had numerous countries handle this pandemic. So why is it a mystery to us?" Because we have to believe we're world beating and wonderful, and we wanna go to the pub and fuck strangers.

"all this covid has been blown out of proportion massively by the press and goverments. 7.8 billion people in the world, 1% of the population is 78millions number of death less than 900k (sad but nothing new, flu and other illness kill a lot of people). so not even 0.1% of the world population We can't leave in fear which is exactly what they tell you. Would you be happier if governments took no action? 50 million people died from the Spanish flu. With today's population and world travel you could expect that number to at least double. Would 100 million people dying make you happy? You don't have to wait forever. Just until a vaccine comes out. That was looking like mid December before one person out of 17000 showed side effects. Some other countries have gone back to business and put Covid-19 behind them. But they had a muture mindset instead of a childish, bratty approach. if you are waiting for a vaccine, then i fear you may be in for a long wait, we still dont have a vaccine for sars yet and that is has been going on for years, we cant rely on medicne to fix this" They stopped working on a SARS vaccine because the spread was contained and there was no need. Do you know why we don't have a section on the forum for smallpox? Vaccine. Before this week when we hit a wobble, we were on course for Chaddox-one to be ready for mid December. Australia has already ordered 85 million doses for January. We are in phase three of trials. The final stage.

"Gathering of more than 6 people is illegal from Monday next week. So what ever you do in groups, on 6 people allowed. Unless it's for work, wedding, funeral. I think this is another silly rule which will be unenforceable and unworkable. It's a rule that SHOULDN'T NEED enforcement. People should just fkn do it FULL STOP Quite. It might not be illegal for me to be an arsehole. I should still not be an arsehole. Why do you need the police to enforce care for your community? Why can't you just do it? Why do we need the government to tell us how many people we are allowed to socialise with? Even though there is no limit on how many co-workers a person can have around them? Why do people feel the need to be infantilised and babysat by the government instead of using their own common sense and good judgement? Where did the six people rule come from? Why not eight? Ten? Four? Is this another number plucked from thin air? How are the fines going to work? In a group of eight will they all be fined? Only two? Or will they split the bill? Will this apply to BLM and XR demonstrations? If so how? Will protesters have to protest in groups of six only? All good questions. So what would you do to slow down the spread of the virus? Increased testing, make it more easy for vulnerable people to isolate/keep safe (food deliveries, priority shopping hours etc). I don't know if it's possible to slow a spread significantly, but the priority should be to protect those in greater danger. Sadly I don't have the answers, I just think it's important in a democracy to question laws and rules. Once we stop doing that we slide into subservience." No Democracy from Johnson who feels fit to override International law to get his beloved Brexit through, with this in mind I will break his 6 people law to see my grandkids.

I don't understand this. If the Oxford Vaccine is approved end of 2020 / early 2021 then the effect if this will be proportionate to how fast we can roll it out. I'd sacrifice more to take on other people's burdens if I could, but unfortunately I cannot. This relies on every single one of us. And some of us are really letting the side down. I won't be seeing any of my family again until we're all vaccinated. Unfortunately that's the reality *I* have to live with. Why is 18 a good age to be allowed to drink alcohol, not 15, 21, or 35? Because someone somewhere decided it was 18. Shrug. I don't go giving 17 year olds alcohol, even if it's arbitrary. "Everyone keeps commenting on protecting the vulnerable and high risk So should carers and hospital staff avoid work along with others such as paramedics as they are at higher risk than the people working at home same goes for energy workers they are having to work during this time It's OK saying that's what they signed up for when they took the roles but I don't suppose they thought their lives would be at such a high risk Wear a mask don't go out that's your choice others don't have a choice or the UK would stop " No. They should use their training and the PPE which they should have been provided from the start. They did sign up for it, I'm afraid, and have faced other risks as well. Vulnerable and high risk refers to medical conditions, not occupations. Protecting from occupational hazards is another matter. No one has ever said "destroy the country because virus". It's "reduce risks". I don't know why people insist on making this utterly absurd. Hospitals need to run. Kids need an education. People don't need the pub or to hold parties.

As anyone who's read me for about five minutes knows, I'm pretty rabidly pro vaccine. I'm pro safe, tested, evaluated vaccine. Trials being halted and even abandoned because of concerns about serious adverse reactions is an example of why I trust vaccines. We don't want people to get hurt, we want side effects to be minimal. Halting the trial to examine the risks is the process working, and how we get vaccines that will protect us rather than harm us.

" Pubs are an easy target. Of course people need jobs. But what's the cost benefit of inebriation reducing social distancing, versus helping those who can't work? No, sex toys aren't essential. Clothes... some people will need clothes for some reasons but Primark is not necessary per se. Food, medicine, infrastructure, security, education are essential. Everything else is not: then we need to work out how important it is, what the risk is, what the benefit is, and behave accordingly. To me pubs are high risk and low benefit when considering priorities during a health crisis.

If a vaccine comes out in early 2021 then they will have lost one year. Not an entire education. As for clothes. Try and give your clothes away right now. Once we stop doing that we slide into subservience. No Democracy from Johnson who feels fit to override International law to get his beloved Brexit through, with this in mind I will break his 6 people law to see my grandkids. " Your aptitude is to be applauded. Sorry that's the wrong word but I don't want a ban

"What if there’s more than 6 people waiting at a bus stop? " They need to pretend to be working, learning, getting married or having a funeral. Or having their eyes tested....

"Why can we go to work fo to school university the shops the pubs the gym the swimming pool the restaurant etc but we can’t go to someone’s house .... and no social distancing doesn’t take place at all these places ... so if there are more than six we will catch it ???? Under 6 we ok??? And the virus knows it’s a house so you will catch it ??? Load of bull s..t " "...Under 6 we ok???..." -------------- I'm sure you know it doesn't mean that. I suspect the number 6 was chosen because that's an average number for the size of a family. The higher the number of people gathering together, the greater the the risk of spread. So 20 people gathering together has a higher risk than 3 people gathering together. If the government limits it to just 3 people gathering, then it will be difficult for a family of 5 to go out for a meal together. 6 seems to be a more reasonable number when you consider family sizes.

"Another erosion of our liberties. I wonder if the law passed for this rule will be rescinded once the figures drop ? I doubt it. They can use it for crowd control or any other mass gatherings " I have concerns about this government, but we should look to that rather than whingeing about having to make minor sacrifices to protect public health. We were all under house arrest in April FFS and now we're going all 1984 because we're asked to limit groups? C'mon get real.

" The pubs won't be closed, they may limit the hours they can open like they are talking about in Bolton. The pubs are closing in Bolton. Only take aways can open until 10pm." Ahh I stand corrected
