Morning everyone. Apologies if this has been discussed before...

I was just wondering what the appetite would be to introduce the meeting pages on here again. Obviously this would be strictly to find a social meet as I for one don't plan on playing anytime soon.

For me, the social aspect is really important and swinging is no different to any other hobby...we build up friendships and look out for one another. Obviously there's those that then wish to not explore this side and are there purely for the physical aspect. Both are fine.

I was therefore wondering if there is any appetite to introduce a meets page for social meets only. As winter approaches, it's a lonely time for some and sometimes a social hello and even meeting new people is important for our well being.

I know there may be a temptation for some to take the meets to the next level but that is personal responsibility. I for one would just love the banter again of meeting new people.

Would be good to get your thoughts.

Stay safe.

I agree for me it’d just be a novelty just to advertise my free time. I have some men that literally mail every morning ‘free today?’

I too only want a social but I am sure that there are those that will spoil it and be asking for play meets.

surrounded by twinkly lights

Many clubs are open for socials.

However with the uncertainty of how this winter is going to hit us and local lockdowns looming I doubt fab will endorse this whilst some people can and others cannot, It would seem to be a logistical pain to keep updating areas that can and cannot meet for a beer or a cup of tea

Good luck in your quest for finding friends

Just having the odd social would be nice at the minute, it’s been way too long

Reality check: we may need to just write off 2020 for any social let alone meet and play ... the temptation to go beyond a coffee will be tough for some people. Time to be safe, sensible and serious.

And depending on what winter brings maybe 2021 as well.

It would be impossible to report all the profiles you see advertising their availability for a meet. I'm sorry to say I can't believe how selfish people are! Just for the sake of a bit of sex, especially the couples??

I don’t see a problem with a social coffee though.

No there's no problem with that at all. I just think the people that are already advertising for play meets will take advantage of it.

Advertising availability for socials is allowed, as per fabs own mod team.

Thanks guys! A really useful thread. I get the impression socials are allowed and in my view it would be great if we could advertise people who want socials. I certainly miss the social aspect and have no view to do anything physical for the foreseeable future.

There's nothing wrong with social meets, just not sex meets at this time, however you will get people breaking that rule.

Agreed. You will always get people breaking the rules but that is personal responsibility. If the meets page made it very clear this is only for social meetings, then it is up to individuals to respect this. We have all seen statuses requesting meetings during this time and that is something I certainly do not support. However, for a lot of us on here, the social side is something that a lot of us are missing. If we can't put meeting alerts up, perhaps we could have some virtual socials? It would be nice to chat and get to know people without any cams pointing at private parts hehe

Absolutely Fab'should return to treating its members as responsible adults, capable of making their own decisions. Those that want to act irresponsibly will do so anyway . Turning the 'meet' feature back on so that social meets can be arranged doesn't have to mean it's a statement saying 'everything is ok'. It's saying 'be responsible but we have to start moving back to being a social society, with some constraints for now'. Rules are for the guidance of the wise and the obedience of fools.

If the people who want to act irresponsibly anyway will do so then why bother turning the meetings page back on?

It's a far more convenient way to act irresponsibly..?

I agree with the comments made re those wanting socials and the few wanting "real" meets.

Where are the mods these days? why haven't fab updated their comments re their meeting policy since June? Not suggesting they should change stance but the fact the wording hasn't been updated in 3 months...

Knowyourmeme[com] - Karen.

It's an oddly gendered insult meaning someone who complains and/or has a sense of entitlement, often demanding to speak to a manager for perceived slight. Born out of American suburbs, mostly middle aged and white.

Well I guess nothing has changed significantly enough to warrant an update as yet.

Just mention on your status SOCIAL ONLY and display the rainbow sign to draw more attention. I think that's the only way atm. Fab aren't budging on this or verifications.

Quite a lot of people have discussed having some changes to the meetings options. I'm generally against fab doing this, as it already seems have a major problem with people trying to get sexual meets every day. If any form of meeting option is opened, it will be more misused for sexual meets than the site currently is, whilst meet options are suppressed. Those currently doing the unacceptable type would definitely use it for sex, as it would functionally facilitate it. Others would discover it and then misuse it too.

Fab doesn't have unlimited armies of moderator volunteers and if their work load is increased, then standards could fall as well as admin being put under greater pressure.

The virus is now reaching very high infection levels again, at a point where schools, universities etc on top of the other relaxations to rules started. Autumn and winter weather are predicted to worsen infection levels as people are indoors more.

I don't think that this site can cope with the complexities of many and varied meetings that may put the sites customers at risk, potentially make swingers a higher risk category in society and worst - be the ground zero for a wave of illness, disability and deaths, that spreads out from us to our vulnerable loved ones, as well as others further down the chains of infection that we start.

It's ideal that we do have a social life amongst the people that we share connections with but we still have parrs of the country in and out of fuller lockdown. The virus may now be endemic in some parts of society and we should do as much as we can to prevent ours from becoming 1 of them. I think we just have to bite the bullet for a while longer and be grateful that we have our family and those in our social bubbles, where we can meet more freely.

There’s no reason why social meetings shouldn’t go ahead. We can go to pubs with friends, go into shops and restaurants with strangers, so what’s the difference. We’d happily meet for a couple of drinks with like minded people, especially now when the weather allows beer gardens.

Some on here aren't the brightest... I've just looked at a profile that shows on my "local updates" and they've got 5 "webcam" veris from last weekend saying how much they enjoyed the party thrown by the host. Easing their way back into meets gently then....
