Hairdressers and Beauticians were told to wear a mask as well.

I think a visor would be better than nothing surely. Also I have seen people who are exempt from face coverings wearing them, it shows others they are making an effort and avoids confrontations x

I guess that possibly they increase the risk by

A, being a large hard surface that is operated close enough to others that its surface would be a good collector of the virus , then

B, I'd suggest a proportion of those who wear face coverings masks and visors absolutely are not clinical enough with their hand to mask hygiene and in that case the visor could be the most contaminated and plausibility the least hygienically handled

Currently my personal experience of my customers would be damn awful hand control

At least 80 percent cannot avoid touching hard surfaces

And then play with mask

And there's more to the article than a headline. so your initial suggestion to dump the visor is misleading. Read the article and if you can't be bothered to do that, the key word in the headline is could.

TLDR: Visors are not as effective as masks at blocking aerosol.

And go to the reasearch website and read up yourself ! I never take a headline or a single story.

Yeah, there's more to it than the headline.

Masks are for exhaling and reducing the distance aerosolised particles travel.

A visor stops projected particles landing on the eyes.

Different equipment for different tasks.

Yes I would agree with most of your points. A lot of mask/visor wearers are likely to be touching them and thus potentially contaminating Thier hands, not sanitising or washing them and likely the visors will potentially have more germs on them.

And the free movement of air inside the Face Shield still allows expelled air from another person into the mouth - nose and eyes.

Face Shield is a shield for larger droplets from sneezing and coughing it was never and has never been designed for anything light enough to travel by air those droplets will get around a shield but with a medical rated mask on as well its good protection....

Masks aren't 100% effective either but they are better than not wearing one, same for visors when keeping a distance isn't possible.

Could part of the problem be that the visor users are not trained in the use of them to the same degree that medical professionals are?

Medical professionals wear them.foe a whole other reason

They may be reasuring to look at but absolutely useless to either wearer or bystander as far as Covid goes.

Scientifically not always, as the wearing of most non surgical/ filtered masks do slightly increase your chance of catching something (think big thing over your face that one them touches to take off and then touches ones face again- spreading anything on it to their face)

And yet again, the purpose of wearing masks, or rather face coverings, is NOT to protect the wearer.

One day everyone will cop on.

Visors protect the eyes, to a certain degree. They also stop you from touching your face.

I have a severely disabled friend who suffers from dysphasia and dysphagia among other things. He cannot wear a mask. He does, however, wish to wear a "face covering" (the actual guideline advice). He has two visors.

Mask will protect you for 20mins before they need to be changed. They help stop you infecting other constantly.

What reasonable masks do is to reduce the level of viral load that you are exposed to. And there is evidence that you are more likely to be asymptomatic by wearing a mask.

There's no evidence whatsoever on masks, it's all pure opinion, Infact if someone did have covid in a shop they are more likely to be spreading it around via hands from fiddling with the mask every minute.

That is of course if the so called experts where right when they said it can last on a surface for 24 hrs. Or was that just made up bullshit too. As there is no evidence of this either. Just fear bullshiters on tv

The masks are pointless as they are 4 months to late so it's like getting your gf pregnant then wearing a condom.

But also why at the start of covid that people with breathing problems were at risk yet now ppl with breathing problems are exempt from wearing a mask.

Also the 2m rule won't help you because if someone coughs or sneezes. snot can travel 8m and a visor won't save you.
