Normal is back to life without social distancing. |

Can't see life returning to normal as we knew it. I certainly can't see myself returning to my office before next year but enjoy working from home. Travelling abroad is off the cards for a while yet - too much risk. Will we ever be without masks?
Until people follow guidelines this won't go away for a long time unfortunately. |

"Let's stop fooling ourselves there will be no normal to vaccine is available
Therefore mask up. Shut schools if any sign of spreading
PROTECT THE VULNERABLE.
Yes, totally selfish of children and their parents to want an education. Follow the selfish brain dead scare mongerers. You know it makes sense.
Stop being selfish"

I think vulnerable people should be allowed to wear masks and distance themselves from others if they choose, and everyone should respect that and accept it’s the new normal for a small minority of people. Maybe special tables in restaurants and seats on busses etc with a bit more spacing and some socially distant hours in supermarkets where capacity is reduced |

A world where people stop thinking about themselves constantly and consider others. It's possible, we've seen that, it's just a shame that some revert to the "I'm alright Jack and fuck the rest of you" attitude the minute they can. |

I spend more of my day NOT wearing a mask, than wearing a mask.
Desks at my work are more spread out so we’re distanced from each other but we can still talk to each other.
I don’t mind this new normal that much though I’d prefer less people in town |

It's a good question. The thing is it's different for everyone. Were you to have asked the question before covid you'd have got a similarly disparate response.
Normal for some is being selfish, taking no responsibility, needing govt to do everything, dropping litter, cleaning hands, wiping surfaces, staying home when sick, work from home, look after neighbours.... Its from one end of the spectrum to the other. I think we are already in todays new normal. Tomorrow it may be different.
I'd like to hope we can all learn and be better for this awful year. |

Normal is going to be different for different people.
For me,personally it's going to be,
Being very wary about who I go near, particularly avoiding those without a face covering.
Being very wary about who I allow near me,
Being very wary about what I touch,
Wearing an N95 mask in supermarkets and other indoor spaces,
Carrying hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes with me at all times, and using them whenever I have to touch anything that anyone else has touched.
Not going out much, not enjoying the carefree life that I used to,not sharing a hug with my friends.
Basically treating everyone with suspicion.
I foresee myself living in that new normality until I feel confident that the threat has passed. Even then, having become acutely aware of some people's appalling hygiene standards,I think I will continue to be very wary.
I can foresee the new normal being sadder, loneliest, less sociable and a little more fearful than the old normal.
I don't like it,it makes me sad but, I think it's just the way it has to be. |

In general I try to be more in the considering others and being less selfish category. I'm just one of those people who enjoys helping others I suppose.

"Everything is pretty much back to normal just need the clubs to be allowed to open as they were "
So travel, theater, bands and other mass gatherings etc. As well as pubs and clubs.
Use to work in theatres but that has all gone now....
And don't see it coming back any time soon..... |

In theory with good social distancing, face coverings and hand sanitisation, we can open it all up again, however with the very reduced capacity of patrons, Is it financially viable for them all to open? |

They should yes. I don't see many people really using much social distancing although I do see lots of mask wearing. Pubs have been open for ages, schools are now going back, travel is allowed but with restrictions/quarantine. People should be given the option of if they want to visit certain places. Realistically how much longer can places be made to stay closed & some people stay out of work or find another job to replace the one they've lost? |

Normal is life as it was.
I want risk mitigation, testing, and population support for as long as it takes to get this under control with minimal deaths *or morbidity, death is not the only bad outcome*.
I want lessons to be learned about supporting each other, community mindedness, disease transmission, and critical thinking. |

It seems to be throwing everyone to the wolves. The vulnerable are stigmatised, those who'll react badly to the virus (that we don't know about yet) will be screwed, increased illness burden.
We all want our lives back. But "just get on with it" is an outrageous suggestion. |

I think for many people a return to normal means that everyone else takes the precautions that allow *them* to return to live as we knew it in December 2019.
I don't think we'll ever to back to that. Too many people have been affected in ways we haven't even dreamed of yet. The children who are starting school this week will assume that the current restrictions *are* normal. The people who've lost their livelihood can't just pick up where they left off, the people out into deep debt will take years to pay it back and that's before we've taken the deaths from covid, other illnesses that weren't treated and its side effects into account. |

For the better I hope.
From my limited and very unscientific observations I'd say that most are very resistant to any sort of change and cling to the old normal. Obviously I wasn't alive in the 19th century but I often find myself muttering "luddite" |

Sport and entertainment closed for ever will have a massive impact on life. And that's just the income to the government. Entertainment is the second biggest economy in the UK. |

My life hasn't really been changed I have carried on working all the way through still don't wear a mask, still go out for food and drinks only thing different is all the fear mongering and busy bodies going on and on about coronavirus which other than having a grandparent die (who was in her 90s and a good cold would have probably had the same effect) none of it has affected me..... might seem bit harsh on the grandparent bit, she was great and will be missed but she was a frail old lady who had dementia |

I do community work and the lives of the vulnerable are getting harder and harder. The voluntary sector is frankly making heroic efforts, the need is rising, and... fuck we're so tired. The stuff we're facing is so far outside our remit. We care, we do what we must, but we're breaking. |

Had some good sex but the holiday situation has not been good and certainly isn't looking good any time soon. I just think people need to stop worying quite so much and just get on with there lives because you could shield and worry and do every thing right and then get hit by a bus... might as well enjoy life and what ever it throws at you try and have a positive outlook and just do what you enjoy. Also never watch the news . |

Everyone has their own unique defined behavioural code, including and limited by their rules viewed as tolerable. Some are very risk averse generally and may have been limiting much that others view as nothing of any concern for a long time - they have perhaps changed little for months, even as the country became a healthier place.
Obviously as social animals we influence each other, so I'm guessing that there will be fluctuations on our standards, as things progress, with higher or lower levels of infection around us.
With us all being directly and indirectly influenced by public media, which tends to show a negative slant on news, we'll probably have an embedded hesitancy against what's perceived as riskier pursuits
I think that a year or so from now that there will likely still be some considerable reluctance to do much that we did before the start of 2020. We'll have norms of people sticking within the groups of people who they know, to a great extent. I think reluctance could become a fairly typical norm. |
