People know before travelling there is a risk its something you have to expect to pay or return on your originally booked flight and quarantine its not like people didn't know the risks. |

We're used to most travel elements not staying at a fixed cost price, such as hotels and flights. Their algorithms calculate real-time what they're priced at. This can include increasing prices just because more people are searching for flights, for example and can mean that you will get a personal price that's higher than other people, due to prior searches.
It's not great but that's the system that we are within.
I'm assuming that there's a high chance it will be taken from the safe list this week. Scotland is removing Greece I think too |

Scotland only.....Wee Nicola now doing what she criticised Boris/Shapps for doing previously. Though I assume certain media elements will praise this as decisive while in England/Wales it was "confusing". |

People know the risks of travelling abroad. Airlines need to make some money. So it's the situation people are getting themselves into by taking a holiday (or cheap deal if they got a deal). Really these people should be planning for a potential outcome of having to sit at home for 2 weeks when they get back. If they return on the flight they booked they wouldn't need to fork out extra 600 per person. |

Exactly right, I know of a family that made their booking at the end of 2019/start of 2020 and they are scheduled to fly this month.
The airline hasn't cancelled the flight so their choices are:
a) lose the €1400 they spent on flight
Or b) spend an additional €700 to reschedule them.
Not gonna have the airline, but I think we can make an educated one.
I think its disgusting to take advantage of people like this.
They already have the initial booking fee, so they should allow them reschedule at no extra cost. |

Hmmm maybe..the holiday I had booked for may, I had booked the flight in january...but didn't take out the insurance at the time as with preexisting conditions I was getting quotes for around £300. I got the flight money back a month ago.
But would I have got my £300 insurance back? |

Insurance companies do not pay out for 'disinclination to travel' so even those that have annual insurance or took out insurance still face the choice of go or lose their money. |

You obviously don't pass through France very often then do you. The UK has spent millions of Pounds in Calais Security and fencing. It has protested almost monthly that the French are not doing enough.
Border Force assists the French Police and Interpol seek out the gangs of people putting the immigrants in boats.
But France being a Sovereign territory of France there is just about fookall else it can do really but pick up those immigrants on the beach at Dover !!!

The government response says that it spent £316 million from 2010/11 to 2015/16. The sum was £40 million in 2013/14, £49 million in 2014/15, and £112 million in 2015/16.

In January 2018 both countries signed the Sandhurst Treaty. The UK made a commitment of €50 million (£45.5m) to implement the terms of the Treaty, which adopted a “whole of route approach” to tackling illegal migration.
This was followed in 2019 by the signature of the Joint Action Plan on Combatting Illegal Migration Involving Small Boats. Under paragraph 11 of this plan, the UK committed €3.6m (approximately £3.25m). |

Look at it the other way... the peak season high price season is the price, when it’s cheaper it’s a discounted price. It’s not that things are more expensive at certain times but rather things are sold cheaply during times of lower demand. |

Its nothing new though they have always put fairs up when seat numbers left are low. I agree its not fair but then the airlines are hanging on by the skin of their teeth all prices will go up if we come out of this with less competition. |

of course they will double or triple prices supply and demand mate.my daughters school breaks up earlier than most so my ex usually gets to take her on nice cheap holiday if she broke up a week later be 5 or 600 quid more.airlines have all ways ramped there prices up when there is a demand fir it. |

Polite and respectable goes only so far until we relaise we are having the urine extracted from us, our own people are treat worse than these immigrants who come over here and put in hotels free of charge and paid for by us, the criminals of the UK
Charity begins at home, and if the immigrants have made it to France and travelled past all of those other countries they could have gone to, then they are just taking advantage of our good nature.
Being the most tollerable country has made us a target for these immigrants to come, and what do they do once they are here in our wonderful country, try to change the way we live try to change our language because our words appear to be racists.
I am polite and respectful to those who deserve it so please dont try and change that around to show me as some liar |

I was in Currys yesterday and there were offers for £199.00 of a TV. I don't think hey that's a £200 saving I think so all this time you were ripping me for £200 more and you are still making a profit after the saving.
But that's the way things are Money makes the world go around and there aren't many that wouldn't seek to turn a profit in any circumstance.

Have you not seen the game shops play, 2 suspiciously similar spec items for sale but one is clearly over priced by at least £180.. only a few people actually buy the one with the silly price but a couple of weeks later and it’s “£200 off” aka about the right price  |
