so today is the last day of the scheme....
okay, i will hold up my hands and admit i was skeptical of it working.... but it seems to have been a big success and i will admit i was wrong (been around the metrocentre today and all the food establishements were heaving with big queues (i waited 45 minutes in the five guys queue)
so.... question now is, is hasn't taken away from the weekend traffic as people were predicting, and with the hospitality sector being so volitile, should it be extended?
If you are going to potentially start limiting what other people can do once the kids come up.... i think it should be extended till the end of the year......  |

I couldn’t afford to use it, even with the discount so it makes no odds to me if it stops or carries on but it seems as though lots of businesses would like it to carry on for a few more months so I hope it does if it helps the hospitality industry |

Think it would be a good thing if it could carry on but I guess at some point this has all got to be payed for so the longer it goes on the more money to pay back, I guess the gov have to decide which way is more beneficial in the long run. Sure they will be as damned if they do as much as they will if the dont extend it. |

Many are carrying it on round here, it’s been good, we eat out 1-2 times a week anyway and normally go to BYOs so it’s been really cheap around £5 -£10 pp for a nice 2 course meal. Struggled to get in a few places this morning for breakfast as many places were full I guess people getting the last one in! |

The thing is it wasn't really to help out the trade. It was about getting people out of their houses and to start feeling confident about being out and about. Dangling of the carrot. It seems to have worked as the government predicted. It was a really good idea as it was a win win. To extend it is just counter productive in our humble opinion  |

We’ve actually avoided going out on those days because of how busy it’s made places.
We understand that it’s done a lot to help some people and the establishments out, but bad as it sounds we’d rather pay more and have places back to normal.
Have no doubt it’s done a lot of good economically, but we’ll avoid anywhere that’s running offers as it’s just not our thing.

We went out for a meal for the first time in this scheme yesterday.
Almost 2 hours from ordering to getting our food.
I actually did say that I would rather pay full price and get my food in a decent time.

Being extended my way too by the restaurants themselves. Many were sceptical at first including restaurant owners but now say its been a big success. No idea who originated the plan but they should be congratulated |

We thought it was brilliant.
We used it a fair bit, we always pre booked so waiting wasn't an issue.
We found everywhere we went felt as safe as possible and it was good to get back to "normal".
It was also a great opportunity to support local businesses. |

A few places have independently decided to continue, or have special offers themselves.
For example, Harvester and Toby carvery you can get 50% off mains Monday to Wednesday using their app (till next week I believe) |

Went into spoons Monday, was meant to go to harvester as had a table booked but found ourselves nearer to spoons so cancelled the table, we sat down straight away and had three course each for under twenty five quid. Wouldn't normally have that much food tbh.
We hadn't had a chance to use it before as had kids with us all summer and one is a bit of a in your face, can't stay away from people kinda child.

Too risky sat in crowded area.
Walk in, order, sit and wait and walk out with bagged food as soon as it arrives.
I got stopped once, told them I was having a panic attack and was told to go, with food in hand..

I’m really glad that my taxes ( which will be increased ) have helped loads of people who don’t pay taxes to have Mcds and KFC. What the goverment should have done is cover the loses for all business while they was forced to remain closed. There would have been less impact to the tax payer, less job loses and would have forced the hand of the government to allow business to open back up earlier.
Well they do offer to pay 50% off beauty treatetments, theatre and sports trips. No all industries that continue to be heavily heat but the government inforced polocies. |

if they are legal then yes. Any legal business that was forced to close should have last years takings matches by the government. Would have been no need for furlough schemes and silly incentives them and the government would have pulled their finger out with testing and tracing. It’s absolutely disgusting what the government is doing to the people of this country, business crashing the lives of those who own them, they people who work for them, all their families and their children ruined. For what save a few to impact the whole makes no sense and is very very wrong indeed |

A lot of people who pay taxes will have used the scheme too.
I did, I pay tax but I didn't go in McDonald's or KFC but a couple of independent places. |

How do you the type of people who used the scheme were paying taxes or not or what type of restaurant they went too.
It worked well for the business and the public.
