Imperial College study suggests 3.4 million people have had it - far more then the 313,000 the government states.
42,000 deaths out of 3.4 million = around 1.5 %
More and more similar figures are coming to light.
Why doesn't the government highlight them ? Answer - because they don't want us to relax about it. |

The fact we’re not relaxed about it is why the death stats are ‘only’ as ‘low’ as they are.
Not that they are as low as they should be, but when incompetents, fools and criminals are steering the ship, you can’t expect not to hit an iceberg. |

That is most disrespecting of Captain Edward Smith he was neither criminal or a fool! |

**”... Imperial College study suggests...”**

Yeh it’s just a ‘suggestion’ that’s all it is.
We have 313,000 confirmed positive cases. Except we test the whole population we will never know the true number of infections.
Also the number of deaths (42,000) represents the number of people who have died *after* testing positive for covid.
There are thousands of people who have died of covid between December 2019 to March 2020 *before* we started testing. Those deaths are not included in the 42,000.
Bottom line is we will never know the true number of infections nor the true number of deaths.
That might explain why the government is not highlighting those figures; it’s nothing to do with “ because they don't want us to relax about it.” |

The WHO suggests between 290k and 650k people die annually of influenza.
Covid-19 has killed 700k in six months. |

We're still in the first wave of the virus and it's still fairly stable in terms of how many are getting infected, at a time when summer weather and more time outdoors makes it harder to be caught.
With colder weather and increased time indoors approaching, when other illnesses also rise to attack people, it's not the time to give up.
There are countless threads against lockdown and with stupid conspiracy theories about what's going on. Pointless and disturbing, which is why they are often raised, deserving little regard. Scientific analysis and research evidence based discussions are needed instead |

An article I read suggested in the uk 127k per year die of the flue. And to date covid was up to about 60k in 5 months. So no big difference really.
I m also aware of people dying of a heart attack and being listed as covid on the death certificate. So I don’t actually believe the “official “ numbers.
But that’s my view on it. |

We’ll never know the truth because the government don’t want us to.
What we do know is it was kicking about in Europe and no doubt the UK from December onwards, which is data obtained from antibody testing.
We also know from the published statistics that 90% of the death stats are people over 70 with underlying health conditions, the majority of which were in care. The remaining 10% majority of which were overweight, unhealthy, unfit.
No doubt, way more people have had Covid than what has been published.
Don’t forget, the plan is and always has been for most of us to get it anyway.

Agreed entirely. The evidence is available, but people don't like it so they seek alternative sources. |

This is an interesting study but am curious about how well antibody tests work. I've read other articles that suggest people who are infected but have low or zero symptoms produce very few antibodies but all have a T Cell response. So am pondering if any antibody test will pick up about 40% of cases?
Anyone know of any scientific papers on this I would be interested. |

Yep agree with most of that.. Thing is however that a significant percentage of our population remain old, unfit, overweight and unhealthy... So we need to try and manage the spread of the virus. It's in all of our interests. |

In 2019 1223 people in England and Wales died of influenza, and 26398 of influenza plus pneumonia.

So Covid-19 kills many more people. In less time.
You're welcome. |

OK so just need to use the right source if you're going to spread rumours. Check the ons numbers as someone else has said... Flu numbers are actually 1 percent of what you quote.... I know we lobe to lock into numbers that support our own theories but the wildly inaccurate ones are just dangerous in the wrong hands. |

What might be an interesting read for some of you is the governments weekly flu report.
This details all the flu outbreaks across the country, and to be honest it’s quite eye opening when you look back over the last few months and compare to recent years.
It’s available online, just google flu report and it’s the top hit.

You do come out with garbage.
We all know there is a huge difference between confirmed and actual cases of cv19. There are studies available to inform us of estimated numbers. I'm not wasting time on your link as am aware of the Geneva study that would suggest that 11 times confirmed cases is a more realistic number.
The govt cannot hide the results of studies, it's simply up to us to search for and critique them. |

Yes and the flu victims usually go in a 3 month period which we are yet to hit, so think of it like this... covid-19 has killed that amount in a dormant time of the year, what’s going to happen when it’s in the ideal part of the year for infection and fatalities? |

I'm not into conspiracies as there were and are more than one which could be applied.
But I do think the gov expected this to be far worse than it actually was. Unless that was a scaremongering show with the spare hospitals.
But here is a thing. If it was so rife last Christmas and it was not diagnosed as the covid 19. Why were there not more deaths due to lack off ppe worn and unwell people probably just sat coughing and spluttering at the docs surgery..?
Why are there so many very very densely populated areas virtually untouched? You would think India amd South Africa with townships and alums would be dessimated, but they seem OK. |

Also, genuinly, the reason the numbers are low is due to most of us not venturing out very far this year. There is no getting away from that. Lock down has stopped spread. |
