Yes if someone breaks the law they should be reported. I would treat it no differently to what I would do if I saw someone breaking into a house. |

I wouldn't, I don't know their circumstances, I just make sure that I'm acting appropriately and leave others to do what they feel is right for them without my judgement due to the fact I don't have all their information. |

If I did not know the full information I agree but if it was a neighbour or workmate or somebody who I knew for sure was breaking the rules I would report them. |

From what I recall, the police were receiving a lot of calls at the start of the lockdown about people being outdoors. What exactly do you mean by quarantine? |

Quarantine on returning from countries on Government list. Like Belgium or Bahamas. But more concerned if France was added to the list.. |

From another time, another place.
In Nazi Germany, some citizens passed on information about their neighbours, family, and friends to the Gestapo. This was called informing. Nazi propaganda presented the Gestapo as an omnipresent all-seeing, all-knowing group. The Gestapo were therefore reliant on a network of thousands of informants. |

"Exactly how the USSR was run inform on your neighbours friends even your own children would report you , is that where we are heading ?? "
In my opinion to use this extreme as a reason for not reporting quarantine breakers is not helpful. |

Who would you report them to?
No rules are being enforced in this country as far as I can tell.
The Government have checked up on Not One Person to see if they are quarantining themselves.
Local police are not interested, and were not interested in people breaking the rules during lock down either. |

So... I assume that if you witnessed a hit and run, you would not report the driver's number plate to the authorities??? |

I would report them to a Track n Trace hot line or the organsition that replaces the one which was originally run by Serco. The police would only be involved in the extreme.. |

No I wouldn't for the simple reason the powers that be offer up conflicting messages so perhaps they're confused.
For example, social distancing yet public transport packed. Lose weight whilst offering discounts on fast food. Pubs open dentist not.
I'm in the vulnerable group, I have enough trying to keep myself safe, I don't have the time or wherewithal to be minding other people's business too.

Pubs never really shut round me it was an open secret and nobody reported them.
It’s also an open secret that a club is allowing group play and nobody has reported them.
Guessing nobody is that bothered anymore. |

Speak to your neighbour or work colleague and ask them. Then if you still feel inclined to report them, man up and tell them they are being reported for breaking the guidlines.
Then come back on here and tell us how it all went

The 2 week quarantine is ridiculous . We are currently in Gran Canaria. Where there’s no cases at all. And is extremely safe. The flight over was empty and the airport was empty. We will have to stay at home for two weeks (not a problem for us) but people can go to restaurants in high risk areas in Manchester and not face any quarantine . |

It was when the aids epidemic was at its height. However that is not my point. My point is that just because government dreamt up a new law doesn't mean it has any basis in fact or deserve any respect. Witness the post describing quarantine on return from an island with no cases. |

I wouldn’t have a clue if any of my neighbours were on holiday let alone where they had been. So reality is you would never know unless it was someone you knew. In which case you would probably only report someone you didn’t like. I very much doubt you would report a friend or family member . |

Expecting people to self quarantine is a bit unrealistic. The countries where it was effective like Vietnam and Taiwan either took you a quarantine location or used your mobile phone to monitor your location and movements. |

Ah see they stay at home for 14 days, unless they need to go to a supermarket or the gp or the numerous other clauses, or they are on an exception list, so do you really know they are breaking the rules?
Either way, whilst I am at home I am certainly not watching my neighbours. |

Think most are just doing their own thing, and taking the risks that they feel they are prepared to take, I can imagine most people would know a member of their family or one of their very close friends have gone against advice given.....too many moralistic people posting on the forums, yet bet they dont take the same stance when it comes to themselves and their family and friends, but are happy to judge strangers on here not knowing the full circumstances .... |

Actually makes me feel sick. People need to switch off their tvs and social media and stop living in their little Covid bubble. Maybe even get some help. This is not the only thing happening in the world. |

Reporting folks will simply result in the government issuing them fixed penalty notices, posting them out to their registered home address and waiting for the said persons to post back their fines.
Non payment will simply sold onto the various private debt collection companies, much the same as parking has been.

It saddens me reading this thread, even swingers, the most open minded people on the planet, have been brainwashed by the mainstream media and govt to the extent they are willing to snitch on their neighbours. The government's policy and the media's overreacting hysteria has been a disaster |

It saddens me to see how many people are willing to break the law because they think they know better that scientists across the globe and are basically saying sod everyone else as long as I can do what I want. Let's not forget, it isn't just the UK government that is having to use lockdowns and quarantine to try to manage this situation. |

A few months ago I'd have said nothing.
However, having seen the self centredness, batshit craziness, bullshit theories and fake science that is littered far and wide just on this site, I'd have no hesitation whatsoever.
The rules are there to protect everyone, so if it inconveniences your much more important life needs, tough shit. |

What's to stop someone making a false report? No way they could just issue postal fines just because someone made an allegation over the phone or whatever |

As for grassing up when you suspect someone is going against guidlines, we'll that says more about you than them.
