Some things have progressed, such as the significantly reduced death and infection levels. Sure, we've suffered badly, for a long period second highest deaths in the world and our form of lockdown would have been better, if imposed earlier. A couple of weeks may probably have saved tens of thousands of lives.
It's not over yet, we've been gaining the benefits of those restrictions. The public trust in the government is diminished, since the lack of even an apology, as well as action on Cummings. This isn't the politics section though.
We need to maintain and build public support for what is highly likely to be a troubling few months ahead, where colder seasons impose more time together indoors, with health implications.
Ideally we would now be making large cuts to infection numbers, rather than treading water, as we currently seem to be doing |

The death rate will drop by default law of diminishing returns nobody left it can kill.
Boris and Dominic are idiots. The old folk let down badly.
I had friends in Europe and America die from it, 2 in this country.
Yeh it's real. Sadly not enough taking it seriously. |

We dont know anyone who died of covid personally.
What we do know though is, our (grown up) child was front line for the NHS and works on covid wards. We dont question how nasty covid can be. Hearing how someone can be sitting up, talking but struggling to breath but be dead 30 mins later is pretty bloody horrific.
But that in itself is a 3rd part story. We know the person in question in that story was a morbidly obese chain smoker with other health issues that had been ongoing.
Our child keeps the details to a minimum and I know why.
All I know is, that was someones son, daughter, brother, sister, mother, father, wife, husband etc etc etc. People have died because of covid. Will you or I, I do not know but someone, somewhere is hurting because of it.
So is Boris doing a good job? Since I would never vote for him, who am I to compare him to? He's what we have. Cant compare A to B when we only have B to go by.

I know of no-one personally or through friends of family or friends of friends.
As to treading water....we would be doing far better if not for (mostly younger) people totally flouting guidlines and ignoring social distancing. Together with some mixing multiple large family groups.
The measures and guidance have been clear enough but as they say....you can't teach stupid. |
