thats may not be as dramatic as it sounds...
it may be just that a particular hospital are diverting people away due to circumstances so its an alert for the public not to call 999 unless absolutely necessary..
weston-super-mare nhs trust for example did the same thing a few months ago when half there A&E staff when down in a suspected covid outbreak so they had to close it down
i know that at least one london nhs trust has done the same thing.... |

Its on BBC. Doesn't seem to change anything and is a formality to trigger certain responses from the Police, local councils and other agencies. |

"What then is the major incident?
The revised Covid restrictions. The major incident opens up a series of options to the powers that be to co-ordinate responses and police the new restrictions. "
Thank you |

"Local council locked down parts of Liverpool very impressed with the council"
I think this is the way things will have to be for awhile, jump quickly and decisively on areas where there is an issue and get it under control asap. |

"Local council locked down parts of Liverpool very impressed with the council"
Nowhere in Liverpool is under increased lockdown. Halesowen and Knotty Ash have enhanced testing implemented due to a spike, but nothing different applies in those areas than any other area of Merseyside. Yet. |

There was an article this morning in the Mail from a professor who pointed out that the number of tests in the North West had increased over the same period and the number of increased positives had gone up in line with the number of tests, so actually there is no spike. This will become apparent when the number of hospital admissions and deaths doesn't rise.
The article has now mysteriously disappeared from the Mail news feed. |

This would not be surprising. |

I've found it way down the list of stories. Search for:
Putting 4.5million in the North West under tough new lockdown measures was a 'rash' decision based on 'inaccurate data', leading expert claims

Where can you find confirmed numbers for hospitalisations? I'm getting deaths from World meter, ons or gov site. But they don't have hospitalisation details. |

Given that 80% of infected people show no symptoms it is long overdue to start testing asymptomatic people who may have had contact with someone infected. |

If you Google CEBM or Carl Haneghan it should take you to the centre for evidence based medicine website... there you find hospital admissions chart for England based on official stats... but be prepared to start asking what's going on... just prior to the weekend hospital admissions for Covid were running at around 70 per day... and flat... no rises.. and that's in a population of 55 Million for England... what are we doing...? |
