all loved up

Well as a migraine sufferer .. today I had my first real impact from the way the world now is.

.I've been lucky that I've not suffered with a bad migraine for a while. But today I woke with one. Realised I only had two of my tablets left so rang the doctors.. to be quoted that as i have a symptom of covid 19. I should stay at home... book a test..

Now come on..I'm a migraine sufferer with a migraine who needed my normal medication.

Doctor has said they cant see me till ive had a negative test. Yet I only had a test on Saturday. And got my results this afternoon.. and they were negative..

Surely just having a headache cant now be a reason to self isolate.

That doesn't sound good. Is there's no way they could just issue you a repeat prescription without you having to see them? The prescription could get sent electronically to your chemist so you can collect without the doctor having to to be anywhere near you.

as I've not has them prescribed in a while they would want to see me. I sent a child out to get me some over the counter stuff. Low and behold a sleep. Some tablets and staying away from screens etc and yay. No more headache. X

That's nuts, and seems like it's the gp surgerys choice, I am suffering from shortness of breath but still was seen by my GP and the hospital for an x-ray!

Headaches are so common without the virus so seems silly that they won't help you, especially as a sufferer of migraines!!

somewhere only i know!

I’ve had a nurse appointment and emergency dentist appointment too in the last 2 weeks, the nurse wanted me back on blood pressure tablets which I’ve not had for a while and the doc just signed it off, the dentist was all wait here do this do that but both were pleasant experiences in the new world and when I was going back to work 10 weeks ago I rang the docs for meds for anxiety and got a telephone consultation no probs and the meds that I wanted, so maybe you just got the jobs worth receptionist, I’d try calling back tomorrow and pointing it out that you’ve had the meds in the past

if you have no reason to think you have it why were you tested on saturday?

or if you thought you were at risk saturday and hadn’t had the result yet the doctor was surely right to refuse to see you

People in some professions are being tested routinely, irrespective of symptoms. This may apply to the OP.

Glad you feel better. I guess there's something good in here. We are sometimes more self sufficient than we realise. As a migraine sufferer, rest, dark, pain relief, fluids... All things we can do without hitting our gp.

Hope you have recovered. X

I suppose they have to be super cautious.

she wanted analgesia that has previously been prescribed and obviously works for her, ie needing a new prescription, ie needing a doctor to re-prescribe.

I understand that, but sometimes in a pandemic we can't have what we want so we have to find ways around problems and we are better at that than sometimes we realise. The OP did and now feels better.

I have now been giving my normal prescription. The receptionist was new and was following her instructions on if someone thinks they have it. Which she had assumed when she asked me when/if I'd had a covid test.

She just failed to take note of the fact I'm on weekly ones.

Normally I manage without medication as I feel it coming on and can react. But when I wake with it.. I cant. And I do get them bad. I am also prescribed muscle relaxants as most of my headaches are caused by tight muscles at the back of my neck. Got them all now x

All's well that ends well.

My Doctor needed to sort out a phone system a week or so ago:

First call you make got the answer 'we are only taking emergency calls please call the following surgery number'.

So you call the second number and it says: 'If your call is not an emergency please use NHS 111. If it is an emergency please call the first number'.

I ended up sending an email and got one back two days later apologising for the confusion.
