All mine are cloth now - I have more than 20 I guess (pretty good with a sewing machine lol). Wash in the machine with other stuff.
I keep a few N95 for Doctor and Dentist Visits. These get thrown.
Have a 200 box of regular paper. Friends have borrowed them. These get thrown.

I have washable ones. So far only used for a trip to 2 local shops and then to have a blood test at the GPs, all on the same trip.
It's waiting to be washed when i have a few more needing washing. |

I'm anal about it. If the mask is taken off it gets binned. But that's because I have to do that at work. Need to get some fabric ones. But again once removed they'll be put for washing. |

Far as I know we don't have to wear them in Wales yet.. but soon I will be staying in England for work and no way of washing them, so il have to buy a load of disposable ones as I'm in and out of places all day.
Do anyone know where is the best place to buy them? |

"I've had mine three months now. Being dark green I haven't needed to wash it yet
To be safe it should be washed after each use. Link?"

Some people just drop them on the pavement or grass verge, seen plenty of those examples.
Saves the need to wash them we suppose, and it must work for the masks former owner/wearer.

If the idea is that the wearer has stopped any virus by using a mask made of ‘something’ therefore contaminating th outside of the mask then yes it probably works for them! |

"I wash after every outing.
In general treat like underwear. If wet or soiled, change and wash."
Ah you wash your underwear after they get wet or soiled? Does everyone else do this?... I mean... me too... |

Just a background character |
If the virus only lives for 4 days max* on any surface why can't you just hang one up and then use it again after 4 days?
* don't quote me on that maybe it's like 5 or 7 days, but you probably get the gist |

* don't quote me on that maybe it's like 5 or 7 days, but you probably get the gist " One of the problems understaning the fomite transmission of this virus from the beginning has been that like other SARS viruses Covid19 has a different half life on different materials. Polypropylene and stainless steel for instance produced much longer half lives than cardboard in one early experimental report.
However, alot of the stuff on here about the virus and facemasks appears to fundamentally misunderstand what facemasks are for. If you are using the facemask correctly, and social distancing, then the most likely source of virus particles on the facemask is yourself, and they'd be on the inner face of the mask. Panicking about how often you clean the mask doesn't make sense if the most likely source is yourself; you've already got the infection!
This is why comparisons with the rate at which hospital or care staff change their masks does't make sense either. For medical and care staff the mask is barrier protection that means they can mitigate risk in circumstances where the risk of transmission is higher and social distancing impossible.
If you're worried about transmission of viruses or other infectious material from your hands onto the outside of a mask, guess what? The solution is not obsessing about mask washing, but getting your hand washing and hand sanitization right.
Have a safe day folks.
