"30m people to be offered the flu jab this year
Including everyone over 50
So now they have about eight weeks to source 30 million doses.
Hmmmm"
No they don’t. I don’t think we’re all supposed to roll up on the same day. |

It's a staggered program, they have already ordered the doses from the suppliers, they are coming from multiple sources as there are 3 different types. One for over 65's one for under 65 and the last for under 11's for administering in schools. |

The 1 for children is formulated for them, and given nasally I think.
The over 65 may include more strains as well as an adjuvant that enhances its effectiveness. The older that we get, there is increasingly potential for our immune systems to become weaker.
The rest of us get the standard vaccine,, |

Going on past experience of how organised our gp practice is, especially at shortish notice we always get ours done in a small pharmacy. |

The flu vaccination surgeries are run with military precision at my docs. Fabulous service.
They have already secured the vaccines to be administered as someone above has said. They order at the start of the year normally. |

What we should be saying is " that's great, the government are taking an initiative to reduce flu cases so the NHS will have more chance to deal with any Covid clusters "
Buy no .... Let's look for reasons to have a good winge and gurn in case it actually works

I always get the flu jab - have had flu twice and if you’ve ever had flu you don’t want to get it again! Never had any issues with it as it’s not a live vaccine. I’m over 50 but I go to my local pharmacy- it’s £12 ish and cheap at half the price compared to getting the flu! X |

Should be everyone, period.
1) to lower demand on the NHS
2) to give better idenfication of COVID infection. If had the jab, then certain it is COVID and better in the 'fog of war' to easily identify anyone feeling very ill more than likely is not flu.
It should be rolled out to everyone the next few years. Yeah, you feel crap for a few days but at least if ill again, you can assume it is something more serious. |

I for one won't be taking the jab

It's not a live vaccine, you can't get flu from having the vaccine |

If you are over 50 you will get it free this year. The programme has been extended to everyone 50 and over. |

The flu vaccine cannot ever give you flu. " You can ge the flu after the jab and many do.That is what a vaccine does,it gives you the bug. Some people get very ill after having it.

I have read that you only get symptoms if you have a poor immune system, I don't know how true that is.
I've been researching because I'm thinking about having it although I'm under 50. |

You can only get the flu after the vaccine because it cannot cover every single strain of flu. It isn't a live vaccine so can't actually give you flu or they wouldn't give it to vulnerable people |

I've been having a flu jab for 10 yrs now, never had a problem after it. My doc just tells me when to go usually in october & I just roll up. Also had the pneumococcal jab 5 yrs ago & thats supposed to last 10 yrs, again no after effects. To me its a no brainer! |
