Jill had a letter from NHS today asking if she would like to take part.

She is not sure if she wants to ?

Has anyone else done the test ?

You sure it’s the antibody test. Nhs are doing random swabs to measure the present spread ??

Letter reads Imperial College London

Dears Mrs ### Take part in a covid -19 in home antibody testing research study

The study involves taking an antibody test at home and will help the government understand how many people in England may have already been infected with the virus which causes covid-19. We have chosen your name at random, and particpation is completely voluntary.

What puts you off doing it?

Yes wife works for nhs so had the antibody test last Monday..... results yesterday said she has antibodies and has had COVID 19 .

We both thought we had back 10th March, wife had a cough , I didn’t but did feel a bit odd , soon went .

Nice to get confirmation though and know we have antibodies 4 months later .

It is the unknown that worries Jill , She suffers with anxiety but I think she probably will do it but it has to be her choice .

It says on the form it is a finger prick test

A few people have posted before about having the random test. It's great that we're doing this as it gives us a very accurate picture of the virus levels in the UK.

As it's based on random selection of people, it's good to continue and have them complete the test, if you can.

incognito mode ;-)

I would ,if it was offered to me,it would be interesting to know the result

If it helps the government to collect information, that will help ease restrictions even more, then its definitely worth doing, its only a little prick

Debs had the anti-body test. They send a test him like a pregnancy test, using blood instead of wee, and it gives the result straight away.

I can't have it as I've had a pneumonia jab and that apparently means you will test positive.

Which means you shouldn't be offered the test as they are using NHS records to pick people.

I had the pneumonia jab back in 2008.

But my gp is organising a test in 3 weeks time. Who told you this? As I doubt the anti bodies from a disease that was note to come out for more then a decade would have been in that jab...

Wrong as I have had the pneumonia injection and I have had the antibody test and I was negative ,I have no immunity and never had covid19.

Is she worried about the result or not having done a prick test before ?

I think they maybe trying to see if antibody testing in certain people is better than others, like in age groups as younger people may have the cure within them. If this makes sense particularly when even though they may have been infected it may not affect them

Well the anti-body test that Debs had specifically stated it.

I can never tell what she is worried about I'm sure she will do it but it's no good pressuring her as anything medical she needs to process it in her own time ?
