When guidelines state you can meet more than your bubble / 6 people outside. And when social distancing is cut ( so you could actually touch someone). So not for a long time I'd say

If people listened to Prof Whitty, he says that COv19 is likely to be with us into 2021.

So there's your answer!

I think you just answered your own question.

We all know there are a few people who have the attitude, I won't get it so it doesn't matter.

Of course to a single male a shag is more important, that making sure they are safe.

The experts generally agree that that COVID-19 will be around for the foreseeable future, and that realistically a vaccine's not likely before next year...

....everything governed by H&S rules and regulations (work, shopping, leisure etc, etc) will continue to operate under appropriate guidelines...

....however, human nature being what it is, day-to-day social contact will doubtless gradually revert to pre-virus 'norms' - people will simply accept the 'risk'...

A virus will infect people, at the moment the biggest problem is people having the virus with very little symptoms so does spread faster, again I will say the purpose of lockdown was to control the spread of covid 19 not stop it this will never dissapear so hide away if you want.

Comparing a virus in 2020 with 1918 is simply not practical with today's volume of worldwide travel.

Central

There have been other threads and the key thing is that the dite owners are posting guidance and referring users to the government advice. Socially distanced social meets are ok, alongside bubbles fotmed with other households that are fixed for good.

Bottom line - it's going to depend on the virus's progression and prevalence. We don't know.

It's all about perceived risk. Current estimates are that 1 in 3800 people have it. Or less than 0.05% of the population.

At what point do people think the risk is acceptable is it 1 in 5,000, 1 in 10,000 1 in 50,000.

My view is the social distancing restrictions will remain in some form or another till Spring next year after we get through the flu season.

But at the end of the day the police don't have the power to enter you home so if two people are happy with the risk there's not much the authorities can do. Btw I'm not condoning any behaviour just stating a fact.

What about for couples that have already had it. Or those that have been isolated for 21 day before the meet on both sides? Shouldn't people who have prayed the rules and ensured that they are all safe or who have already had this virus be allowed to meet?

I’ll give you an opinion... amongst the numbers over the past 4 months I’ve helped move 9 guys of around your age to the mortuary after they lost their life to Covid 19 or even worst afterwards because their body didn’t have it in them to recover post virus.

We are all taking risks already, easing lockdown itself is a risk with the knowledge numbers will continue to die but hopefully in small numbers as the economy and human patience can’t endure lockdown any longer.

If you wish to increase your own level of risk, I’m sure you’ll do it anyway... some people will view that as ridiculously selfish as actually it would potentially affect anyone else within your circle, some people will have sympathy.

Fab however isn’t going to take a standpoint where they say it’s safe to do so when guidance clearly states it isn’t. As others have said on paper people won’t be allowed to meet until probably some point next year.

There’s no guarantee people have immunity, about 20% of recovered confirmed patients who have swabbed positive will then show as negative on the antibody test. There’s also a large number of documented cases of patients relapsing with the illness or being infected by a different strain.

Out of interest... who isolated for 21 days to have a meet?

Thanks for the updated infor. I wasn't aware that another strain was prevelent. So why are lockdown restrictions easing at all!

The 21 day thing Is for couples like a couple we know and ourselves. They have a child with special healt requirements and we haven't left the house since this whole lockdown started. Food shopping is done online and delivers to our back yard. We have been considering a meet with them as we are well beyond the isolation period and have both not had external contact but for different reasons. Plus with being allowed to go to pubs now are socials still off the table in general? I understand and respect the risk of intimate meets with people who haven't isolated but what about socials if your willing to surrender that 21 day meet or have already had one? (we haven't btw). We are looking for ways to have couples we care for still be available for mutual fun and support and still be safe for each other. To be totally honest I don't care if I get the damn virus but I do care about the possibility of giving it to someone else. My oh is of the same mind on that. This virus is doing so much damage to people through the secondary effects. Loosing jobs, destruction of businesses and industry. The mental health damage from constant isolation.

There are positives to it as well tho. More family time, closer household bonds, community support and building.

But we do need normality. We cannot forever be afraid of this virus. We can't wait on a vaccine as the last major virus destroyed this way was polio.

It's here to stay as it's in the same family as the common cold but admittly much more serious symptoms. That's because we have no resistance to it and until we are exposed we won't be able to build that resistance.

Phasing exposure has been the best idea for us so far, letting health services cope with lower numbers. It was never about protecting the public fro getting it, thats impossible. It's about dealing with a measured exposure so those that reacting to it badly (including one of my best friends who lost against it) can be treated by staff who arnt overwhelmed.

Sorry I got off topic but the sentiment is the same. Measured caution without succumbing to fear and roumour.

There currently isnt any evidence of another strain! There is only one known strain.

And anti body tests do not exclusively state where someone has a level of immunity. Some people can have no anti bodies but have immunity through a t cell respone

We didn't have a meet on Tues, and it didn't say that on our profile. We received a verification from someone we know from before lockdown on Tuesday after we found him on another thread and verified him. If we could display verifications left you would see that it was meeting last year during the UV party at asylum

More men are asking simply because there are more men on Fab. Women and couples on the other hand, if they wanted to meet, would simply just meet and not seek any validation I suspect.

Lockdown is easing because we can’t sustain it in all truth, as you say financially, mentally etc... the infection rate was always to high when we did it initially to achieve a level where we could eradicate it so it’s now an exercise at managing the impact over time. There’s got to be an acceptance of ongoing deaths but also control so we don’t go back to square 1.

Your 21 days has me a bit startled in truth, it’s a tricky one... even protected sex is probably the most guaranteed way to insure infection if there’s a carrier: kissing, oral, face to face, close proximity and exerting whilst indoors... all are practically 100% chance of passing on the virus. For me if that household has an at risk child that dictates that even food is delivered to the house then why would you risk their safety for the sake of a shag?
