if there is another coronavirus next year with the same r number and mortality rates - should we repeat what we have done this year? I personally don't think locksdowns can ever be the answer unless you're sure you wont get a similar vius for the two decades it will take to recover from the previous lockdown |

"I mean if lockdowns are the way to go - we now know that our society is never more than one dodgy chinese meal away from collapse"
I’m sure you didn’t mean it but attributing the coronavirus to China is pretty racially insensitive mate. These diseases can start anywhere and if the next one started in the UK I don’t think we’d want people saying ‘we’re one dodge pint of Fullers away from ruin’ |

Yeah but by saying ‘we’re one dodgy Chinese away from collapses’ implies that the people of China or those who provide Chinese food in the UK are responsible and it’s well documented that comments like this lead to increased racism and hate crimes towards Chinese-Asian people.
I’m sure you didn’t mean anything by your comment but the effect is the same. |

I'm surprised the rest of the world didn't battle to rename it covid20 as they did their best to say it was that 1 guy "a super spreader" who went skiing among other stops before being diagnosed in Brighton and "pin pointed" as the "start of the European and uk outbreak", poor fella, all that blame for something that was already here |

COVID was so last year, It all about the
Bubonic Plague next year and the black death has raised it ugly head in China from eating rats.
"
The Plague never went away, it's just controlled with antibiotics. The disease is endemic in Marmots that still live in Mongolia. |

No, we should respond differently. Be ready prepared with equipment, including testing capabilities and emergency response processes ready. Implement the changes needed, following the recent trials.
Full lockdown sooner. Identify everyone with it and trace contacts. All fully isolated.
Care homes not used as dumpling grounds. Hospitals resourced more fully.
Earliest full testing regimes implemented.
Share development of track and trace app with other countries.
Goal - eradication. |

It may be from China, as they were first to report it - but could have started elsewhere. Research evidence shows it's of natural origins, not artificially created.
What matters is how we respond to people in need. |

Just because it came from a lab wouldn't necessarily mean it was artificially created. |
