COULDN'T get worse....
July sees China announce that Inner Mongolia have a confirmed case of full blown Bubonic plague, go on major high alert and THEN very quietly so no one really hears.... Make a lesser announcement that there MAY have been a second case but they aren't quite sure, or even sure where he is.
Covid-19 + Bubonic plague =???? |

"There was confirmed cases of it last year I believe too and nobody battered an eyelid"
Mainly cause it can be treated now.
But it does feel like doom and gloom at the moment. What else is round the corner |

Yeah I read that...wasn't it something to do with animals AGAIN.
I think,as others have said,it's easily treated now so shouldn't be seen as total doom and gloom... |

Just seems that every month of this year so far has something else to set the media into overdrive to report something that sets global panic off.
I hope 2021 is the polar opposite cos a year of good news and positive vibe is just what the world needs after this official write off of 2020 |

The media have had a load of things in the last couple of decades, food scares, brexit, trump, cv19 etc etc. Everytime they push the hype to a new level, yet the more they do this the more people stop reading/ watching or listening to their output. |

Plague in todays world is not the risk it once was. We understand the modes of transmission, we have effective diagnostic tests which are readily available and there are simple, effective treatments with a high success rate.
While it's still a potential risk it's highly unlikely to be a pandemic risk now, although the very word 'plague' still stokes fear and rives media attention.... |

Bubonic plague is a bacterial disease, transmitted via fleas on vermin, treated with antibiotics. Whereas Covid is an aspirated airborne virus with no current recognised cure. I cannot see what the comparison is apart from causing fear to sell papers. |

Equals nothing. One has resulted in a global pandemic, the other a naturally occurring bacteria present a cross the world which is treated with the most basic of anti biotics.
I suggest you read the article fully before making a sensationalist post |

1. Bubonic plague never went away. There are cases every year (normally a few hundred)
2. It has been around that long that vast majority have inherited immunity
3. It is bacterial and not viral so piss easy to treat with anti-biotics.
Worry more about TB if you must. If this year is "average" for TB then it has already killed more than Covid-19. Fact check on WHO list of causes of death worldwide. |

"Wait for ebola to pop up now, just to add to the shit storm."
Oddly enough that would actually be a significant risk were it to happen. Ebola is highly transmissible, with a lengthy incubation period and non-specific symptoms during the early stages of the infection.
With developing countries (where a fresh outbreak is most likely) already facing severe strain from handling Covid-19 and the rest of the world preoccupied with their own Covid response there is little to no slack in the system to control an Ebola outbreak too.
There's a significant risk that an outbreak could go unnoticed until it had gained a significant foothold at which point containment would be far more difficult.
The one light on that horizon is the existence of an Ebola vaccine which while still unlicensed does exist and has been shown to be both safe & effective.
Ebola & it's sisters are definitely worth keeping a very close eye on. |

Ebola did pop up in Africa only a few months ago. The outbreak was small less than 10 cases and was brought under control.
The plague is 100% curable with antibiotics.
44,000+ deaths and the biggest crisis since WW2 isn't a media scare. Yes people sensationalise things all the time, remember the papers put headlines on front pages to get people to buy them. |
