"The clap for the NHS staff who have worked tirelessly throughout the epidemic, on this the 72nd anniversary of the NHS. "
Yeah I missed it too.... Weird as normally all my neighbours are out banging saucepans and general hullabaloo... But my street seemed to have missed this one... Mea culpa |

Our MPs had the opportunity to show their support for our NHS and Care Workers by ensuring they received a weekly test for Covid-19 ,which if carried out would also benefit everyone , Boris Johnson lead his Conservative Party MPs in voting against them being tested ,,but , never mind he did ask the entire nation to joining him in clapping |

Most NHS workers don't want the testing weekly. It was a big undertaking getting us all tested for the antibodies. Weekly testing would put too much pressure on the labs.
Also I'm a little anti testing as just because you have a negative test doesn't mean your negative as we are still learning about the window periods of the virus. I would rather they just test the ones with symptoms as they are doing.
I didn't clap either I think 5pm was a awkward time. It's also meal time in most hospitals |

utter nonsense the clapping
and there is very little testing in Scotland
we have had 3 cases in the last month and all 3 negative
and when I say 3 cases, we have had 3 people in the past month use the drive through where we have 8 tents set up, I am one of the drivers who picks up patients and drives o testing site then return home if negative (volunteer)

I shall be leaving the NHS if weekly testing is made mandatory .. I won’t have a swab stuck down my throat / nose each week just to comply to a tick box exercise . If one of my colleagues/patients are found to be covid positive then I don’t have a problem getting Covid tested . After all we are wearing masks for 12 hours a day, what more do we need to give of ourselves ?? |

"Didn't even know there was clapping
What's the point anyway?
NHS needs adequate funding and resources and individuals not to abuse it. Claps are worthless."
Public support for the NHS is important. While it's high, BJ won't start austerity measures. A drop in support = fucking over the NHS again.
IMHO it's not if the NHS will get fucked over again, it's when. |

"Did this actually happen away from media cameras?
I got all set with a nice loud film through the surround sound (as my dogs are so brave) and yet nothing. No one was out, no noise, nothing "
We had a social distancing picnic in our grounds yesterday and we had two paramedics amongst us, we made sure we went out to clap, usually we could hear the village (we live down a very quiet road, not many houses between us) but not yesterday.

Anyhow...did we clap for the 50th..60th or 70th?

If you/people really felt strongly like that, then why not go protest, or kneel with a mask holding your placard stating #NHSmatters or post a blue Square on your social media.
Claps are a waste of time. |

Maybe, or maybe they represent dwindling support. And the govt can be bastards re wages again. Public emotions ran high in support of NHS during the peak. But the public doesn't realise the normal daily struggles the NHS staff face and therefore will forget

We all get tested weekly and feel it is pointless. I would rather the money be better spent. |

" ,,,,, do you mean that when people arrive at the center the test is so immediate that you know if they are negative to enable you to drive them home ? I thought the tests has to be sent away ,,I know someone who had to be tested and had to wait 48 hours for his result ( which was inconclusive) but this was in the "early days" of the testing ,so appreciate the system may have changed |

There was an entire thread on this. Most posters, including several from NHS said it would be lointless pain in the ass and didn't want it.
Front line have had it from the start. My daughter is GP. Had her first test last week (negative). Her b/f is front line doctor ....been tested weekly since March...ways negative as he says he knows how to wear his PPE. |
