"Re handling stuff - what if I want to check nutrition labels on food? What if I simply change my mind? Gloves are useful for those without access to hand washing facilities/hand gel. " No they aren't at all. There actually worse than if you sanitise your hands before your enter the store. Gloves will transfer the virus more effectively than your hands. In order to be safer you'd need a fresh pair of gloves for each and every item you pick up. Why do you think shop workers and people on tills aren't wearing gloves. Also mask protect no one unless they are proper FP3 and fitted correclty.

" Yes, because, again, people's main concern is protecting their hands, NOT cross contamination. For example: Today I went to tesco. I forgot the antibacterial wipes that I usually take with me to wipe down the trolley so, to PROTECT MY HANDS, I put a carrier bag over the handles and used that to push my trolley until I could get to the sanitising station. Why did I want to protect my hands? Because I was using my phone throughout my shopping trip as my shopping list was on it. I used one hand to pick up products from the shelf and the other hand to hold and use my phone. If I hadn't put the carrier bag over the trolley handle and touched it with my bare hands I would have then transmitted anything that might have been on it to my phone. But I didn't. Because I protected my hands. Gardening gloves or not, if you are putting a barrier between your hand and an infected surface, you are protecting your hand are you not?

I've just run out of hand gel, but luckily I was wearing gloves which I can now take off and my hands are clean enough to touch my face and hair with If masks are so useless why was I not allowed into my GP surgery today unless I had some sort of face covering? Think I'd rather go by the advice of actual medical professional thanks Your likely to contaminate your hands when you take the gloves off. And in the meantime you've spread any contaminants you've picked up all over the tube, up the escalators through the ticket barriers etc etc. I wouldnt class, Brois or Dominic as health professionals. They have required people to wear them in certain circumstances to give the general population a precieved feeling that they make you safer so people start doing things again. If your mask has even the smallest gap there not stopping anything. Plus if you only want to take advice of medic read the article or Google gloves they say don't wear them. Not if you take the gloves off properly. And I would have spread the contaminants even if I hadn't been wearing gloves. They would have just been on my hands instead. Like I've said multiple times, the gloves are there to protect your hands so you don't contaminate them if you don't have access to hand washing facilities. Not to stop cross contamination. Actually not as effectively, gloves actual spread contamination more effectively than hands. But either way you've kind of missed my point people don't change thier gloves every time they touch things and alot are not wearing disposable theyre wearing gardening or work gloves. Yes, because, again, people's main concern is protecting their hands, NOT cross contamination. You know your hand can't catch covid don't you. By wearing glove your putting other people and yourself at higher risk. Especially if you keep resuming the gloves because everytime use take them on and off what evers on them is on your hands. In your scenario what I'd have done is, arrive at shop, place phone in pocket, get trolly, go to sanitise station sanitise trolly, sanitise hand, continue shopping as per. Wash hands afterwards, if you feel you need to santise your phone, no need for gloves. Can't see why you needed to use your phone between picking up trolly and sanitising station. Tbh I feel your just be argumentative for the sake of it. Medical professionals say don't wear gloves but you ignore that advise, glove spread disease Yes I know your hand can't catch covid. But it can sure as hell transmit covid from a trolley handle to my phone, which then gets pressed against my ear or at the very least gets touched with my hands which then go on my face. And as for why I couldn't just put it away, it's very simple. I had no pockets. I don't know if you're aware but ladies clothing very rarely comes with pockets. And I'm sure as hell not going to stuff my phone down my bra in front of a bunch of strangers in the queue. I'm not being argumentative. In fact I've repeated the same thing many times in the simplest terms I could manage while addressing all your points and yet you're choosing to ignore everything I've said. No point debating with someone who literally will not even acknowledge your points, therefore I'm done with this thread. No but it's likely you had a bag? Just trying to stop you spreading contaminants around because you don't understand the basic principles. Anyway contiune putting others and yourself at risk. " What because all women carry handbags?! if i had a bag do you not think I'd have put the phone in my bag? Jesus christ... And yeah mate, I think I will

No they aren't at all. There actually worse than if you sanitise your hands before your enter the store. Gloves will transfer the virus more effectively than your hands. So you saying you put on a new pair of gloves everytime you touch something, and never reuse a pair becasue thats not what I'm seeing. Also mask protect no one unless they are proper FP3 and fitted correclty. " That's not entirely true. If you are the only one in an enclosed space Wearing a mask is pretty ineffective but if everyone is wearing one else is, you are less likely to be exposed by people coughing and sneezing.

"One thing that cracks me up.. Numpties walking around shops with latex gloves on and scrolling thier phones while shopping. DOH! --- --- --- I wear one glove on my right hand, putting my left in pocket until in-store. I handle the trolley with gloved hand and assuming items handled by shelf stackers are low risk, only pick up and place items in basket with left hand. Only using gloved hand to push trolley and open fridges and freezers. Unpack onto checkout with ungloved hand and back in with same. Once out, same hand touches car door and shopping into car. Return trolley then when back at car, used ungloved hand to flip off glove by inserting fingers behind wrist to pull off inside out and drop onto car footwell. Use Hand San on both hands then drive home. At home, carry shopping in, lastly glove into bin before going in to wash hands. I find not wearing two gloves makes me more conscious of clean/not so clean and deciding which is best hand. I consider trolley handle and doors the highest risk so use gloved hand for this. This method means box of gloves lasts twice as many trips. Hope someone finds it useful.." But when you get home do you sanitise every item that you have bought? I do for my elderly mother
"For those wearing gloves can you explain how you take them off and dispose of them? Also are you using latex free gloves or latex ones?" The latex free gloves we use at work have tab at the cuff end that hangs down. When you are finished you put your hand flat and pull the tab across the palm of your hand towards your fingers. The rolls the glove inside out so you don't come in contact with the outer surface of the glove. We have a special pedal operated bin for gloves only. It gets picked up once a week and emptied.

"Never worn gloves or a mask. " Nor me. Whilst there is some possible benefit (and it is only that) from wearing masks there is no logic at all to wearing gloves at all. It is in fact completely stupid as a virus cannot cross the skin barrier and the moment you touch something they are no longer sterile (if they were in the first place). It's all part of the illogical nonsense of fear lapped up by a gullible public who conveniently forget the 64,000+ deaths from air pollution per year, the 110,000+ deaths per year from cardio vascular disease, the 80,000+ deaths from smoking per year (all preventable) and the thousands who are and will now die because the NHS has effectively been shut for three months for cancer treatments and routine screenings.
