11.5% drop in GDP won't be pretty. No need to doom monger when you are living in a country with a collapsed economy

The total fearmongering & complete shut down tactics combined with free money worked too well, its the law of un intended consequences, its going to be like reversing the direction of an oil tanker.

The great socialist experiment.

But you should be able to enjoy chlorinated chicken, meat from animals pumped with hormones and chemicals used that are banned in the EU. Whilst enjoying the freedom of less red tape, so you won't get to see from labels where the stuff called food has come from. People want more freedom, so we become free of sovereignty, as offshore trade bodies take the powers for legislative rulings, when corporations sue the country for loss of forecast profits. Make America great again.

Unlike most recessions, we are in a position to rebound, if authorities overseeing us want us to.

I think the lack of early and harsh lockdown v this last minute lockdown of a soft nature has led to many deaths and lots of economic damage. The problem is now whether current and future policies exacerbated or help recovery. Confidence is key and the way we deal with health will allow us to bring wealth.

Since the tories killed manufacturing in the 70/80s and New Labour continued their work, building a flimsy, service-led economy, Britain has always been more economically vulnerable than other nations. This is just another miserable example of that.

Remind me again just how accurate their predicitons were when the coalition came into power, they couldnt forecast what day of the week it is, the BBC weather forecast has a bettr record of accuracy and thats diabolical, still gives the doom mongers something to feel good about

t’s well known that the Yanks have better quality food than the horrible French and the lazy Italians. You only have to look at the average size of an American ( and a Brit) to tell how amazing their food and their diet are! What do the French know about food anyway? If Boris says it, it must be true! Come on, there’s nothing like a boeuf bourguignon aux hormones. Bring it on!

When is this country going to stop digging?

Shock and horror. GPD is lower by 10%

I mean it’s nothing to do with the world being on a lockdown. No production, no services, no travel, no shops....

Next thing someone is going to tell me air travel is down by over 70%.......

We won’t be able to blame the EU anymore. Who’s going to be next culprit to be blamed for the incompetence of our conservative governments. Immigrants , that’s done; the Eu, done too, the communist Labour Party, done too. What’s next? The earth that’s not round enough? The Daily Mail readers may buy that one too! I fear that they will blame it all on the BLM protests. Even the 40K+ deaths that occurred before they even started.

Or Kier Starmer's donkey sanctuary? I'm sure there's some mileage in that.

Oh yes and lets build lots of buses, Britain needs more buses. If we had more buses then everyone could have a seat on their own bus and not have to worry about social distancing. And there would be a lot of jobs going for bus drivers.

This is it in a nutshell really. Government policy was ill conceived. The realisation that herd immunity was the wrong approach came too late. Cost lives. Rebuilding confidence will be a difficult task but vital.
