so looks like anyone wanting a 2 weeks holiday will need 6 weeks off work..2 weeks quarantine in your destination country followed by your holiday and then 2 weeks Quarantine when you return to the UK..guess overseas travel is out for 2020..... |

And with national holidays going bust ..a lot of british holidays will be out of the question for many. |

It seems a poor measure that's been introduced. It will restrict the majority of the population in many ways. Businesses will further struggle, jobs will be lost adding to the unemployment figures and impacts from this, and our travel industry won't be able to to sustain itself as well for the future, when it should be more feasible to travel.
They appear to have over-compensated for action that they didn't take earlier, which would have potentially had a more beneficial effect on health. Priti Awful isn't a reputable person to have managing this.
We will have other countries making us unwelcome. The concept of travelling somewhere where you are forced to isolate, before you can enjoy a holiday, is likely.
The Irish Republic could take some of us. Or perhaps people will divert travel via Ireland, so that they don't need to isolate on return. |

But like the rest of the implementations....far too late |

Flying out soon. Happy to do two weeks in my home and garden will be able to work remotely while I am there anyway. If I make it out the quarantine I will the take care of some business and go for some walks in the hills and beaches. Make some restaurant reservations as they are slowly being opened will be nice to sit in one again even at 50% capacity.
Then home for two weeks working from home.
The new normal making it work. |

Parts of Cyprus may stillbe open as they are part of the SBA and not under the control of the Cyprus Government. I did call the owner of the apartment we use this morning and told me about the SBA. He reckons that the ban will be lift sometime in July. Also the Northern part as different rules and government. |

6 weeks at least. What if you catch the virus when you are away? No way will you be allowed to travel back. Will have to self isolate out there. Not sure your employers will be happy. Not even sure if your travel insurance will cover you in case you end up being hospitalised |

If we're being advised against travel still, I doubt insurance will cover us.

It's right we can't let people in and out of this country Willie nilly. Airports should have been shut from the start. Most people have been sensable and tried to keep safe, if we had have shutdown fully earlier we wouldn't be in the shit we r now. God knows when we can have our pubs back, haircut and meets lol but just got too plod on |

People should be more concerned with survival not fucking holidays " I understand perfectly thank you. It's a virus that will either burn itself out.. or become something we have to learn to live with.. like we do with other infections |

Get what? I’ve worked 50 hours a week since all this began and followed every rule to the letter. Now you’re saying survival is more important...well survival for me is living, and a big part of my life is travelling and holidays so yeah I can’t wait to be on a plane somewhere. |

I think the people who have been working/ volunteering through all this have a better understanding of how it's going to work for the foreseeable future. The ones at home have probably only experienced social distancing in supermarkets so it's all still 'new' to them.

Other countries are doing airport testing, which won't cover you for a last minute acquired infection but at least could allow you to get out whilst on holidays, not stay in isolation.
The UK 2 weeks isolation is a joke and should be changed. This would support the travel sector to remain in business, for people who will want to travel in 2020 onwardsm |

I think I'll stay in the UK this year, just a change of scenery and no housework is good enough for me. I don't think I could relax abroad, on the plane, worried if one of us comes down with symptoms etc (family of 5). Plus not being able to do what we want when we want doesn't sound like a great holiday to me! |

They are letting in certain countries, who have had a low infection rate, UK isn't one, which is why they aren't letting us in, at the moment, which is why our holiday to Corfu is cancelled.

Deferred our July holiday to same dates next year with no amendment fee . That said , how much is a foreign holiday going to cost next year ?. Can only see prices rocketing due to social distancing . |

Wise move. They have no idea when they will open the borders to the UK yet, it will depend on our infection rate here. Majority of Greeks aren't happy to see us back until we are more controlled here. Their infection rates are very low.

Talking to a friend on a Corfu forum, he checked with his insurance company and they would only cover for repatriation, not for anything medical connected to Covid, so worth checking your policies everyone |

Nope.
I'm a nurse working full time. Face to face appointments included. My partner has tested positive for c-19 who does not work in the care sector (he is a welder so not even been at work) and they wont test me.

Absolutely, one of my immediate family works for the NHS, two of his close colleagues have tested positive but the can't and won't test the rest as they can't afford to lose any more staff and as long as he doesn't show symptoms it's business as usual. |

Unlikely you will be able to get travel insurance that covers COVID for some time. So even if you are free to travel you'll have to bear the risk of hospital costs should you catch it abroad.
If you are a citizen of UK only, you'll still have the benefit of the E-111 till the end of the year but then that stops. |

It's more likely that an annual policy obtained before this won't exclude such an event but there's no guarantee. I'd check the Internet with searches on the insurer, to see if there are discussions on them or complaints etc.
The EU health card is still valid, for European travel but provides health costs at the same price as local residents. Now that many countries are over their peak, that is some consolation. |
