Wear a mask, of what material. Do people wear them correctly, understand donning and doffing? Do they reduce other protective measures thinking that they're no longer needed?

I wear a mask.

However, I am scrupulous about donning and doffing. I wear it correctly. I do not reduce my distance and insist others maintain theirs, because it's additional not instead of distancing. I put it on before I leave the house and do not touch it or my face until I get home, and I only touch the ear straps, straight in the wash, then I get straight in the shower.

Despite best efforts I recognise it's a non medical mask and is more about protecting others from me.

I'm still reducing my contact with others by over 90%.

It is a benefit if you know what you're doing and actually do it...

Should be ok I guess but the problem is I’m in a room on my own and in the middle of the night at about three a nurse will come in too take bloods so I’m guessing I’ve got to be wearing my mask but the scary thing is last time I was in hospital they took bloods without even turning the light on which is impressive methinks.

"I wear a mask when I'm working due to guidelines

Unfortunately on various occasions recently while having to be out, the mask wearing people seem to have been lulled into a false sense of security (the ones who clearly are not wearing the masks correctly) , but also it seems any distancing does not apply to them in any way shape or form (I'm generalised the few I admit but still).

That's one of the main arguments against mass mask adoption. That masks mean you don't have to distance. Also, people wear them incorrectly or touch them a lot.

I'd like to say to those I encounter out and about that wearing a mask like a necklace, or lifting it to eat, and/ or getting up close to people, makes you a higher risk (to yourself and others) than someone not wearing the damn thing.

I know exactly what you mean. But I'm protecting me as best I can. And that what everyone should be doing. Everyone is responsible for themselves

But I have to be extra careful because if I carry this crap to work, I'm responsible for the deaths of a lot of elderly and vulnerable ppl. And that could be the idiot who reached over me in tescos nanna.

So I do hope you aren't suggesting that as I wear a mask in tesco, that I'm not observing distancing

I'm not speaking for that poster, but myself. I'm not saying that.

I'm saying, if masks are worn correctly they can do a great deal of good. It's why I wear a mask.

But a lot of people (not necessarily you, and indeed probably not you) wear them incorrectly and think having one makes them invulnerable. We're better off if those people don't bother.

kinky land

I'll only wear a mask if it's compulsory and I must go into that place.

So unless it's an airport then I'll be avoiding places insisting on masks, especially t-shirt squares and thin ones contaminated but with the wearers emboldened

It feels like an attempt at a placebo but just another thing to devide people

The material absolutely matters... As does the behaviour of those wearing it. It's why it's complicated.

Thing is some choose to wear a mask some don't, so daredevil wore a mask to keep his real identity secret which I think is a better option because luke cage and Jessica Jones get nothing but hassle from people knowing who they are and there capabilities danny rand on the other hand doesn't wear a mask but gets no hassle from the public so it's really swings and roundabouts. Now a simple pair of glasses worked for superman he fooled every one and no one realised that he and Clark kent were the same person, so I suppose if you want to wear a mask wear one and of not don't.

You missed out face fit of the mask, people with facial hair render the mask useless. As the air you breathe goes around the mask, instead of through them filter of the mask.

I'm not judging anyone for not wearing a mask, for the record.

I've looked at the research and believe I can maintain a level of compliance (with a non medical grade mask) to protect others and potentially myself. So I do.

I don't know how many people can, and I see people who don't (and I don't say a thing to them).

But should we all be wearing masks? If worn correctly, with correct behaviour, and not taking medical grade equipment from those at highest risk, they're of benefit.

If those conditions aren't met, they might be harmful.

Here in France in the region that we live in wearing of masks is the new norm and those that don’t of which there are not many look out of place.

Shops can refuse you entry if not wearing a mask and we think rightly so.

Our department have given us two masks each and we can easily buy boxes of fifty for 30e so they are readily available.

Stay safe out there and you protect me and I will protect you.

"I was in Vietnam in March and it was compulsory to wear masks and they still haven't had a single Covid death. "

I believe that the culture even before Covid in Asia was to wear a mask if you have a cold or cough or sniffle to protect others which to us westerners looks strange but makes perfect sense really when you think about it.

Last night a orderly came into my hospital room without a mask on and to be honest it made me feel uncomfortable which we think is going to be the new normal going forward.

Stay frosty out there!!!!!

Thanks but they have conned me the bastards!!!!

Thought I was in for seven days but when I rocked up yesterday the doc tells me because of something called Covid I’m locked down here for 14 days unless I test clear.

Still it’s like a five star hotel so I’m not complaining

Ha ha to be honest the bloody frogs(real ones) in the lake by my room are a bit noisy but bearable.

Don’t understand the whole throwing your gloves and masks away on the floor as someone said that really is scummy.

Now I am thinking of Paul McCartney's frog chorus !

I find it no trouble at all to discard masks and gloves in my own dustbin.
