Bryan Adams and Donald Trump
Jump to: Newest in thread
Two things have wound me up today. Firstly you may have seen the White House press briefing where an Asian American reporter asked Trump why he saw the comparison of figures between countries as a competition. Trump, in his usual waffling style said "maybe you should ask China" in his long-running blame game tactic. Ok, a stupid answer from a stupid man but the reporter came back with "why are you saying that to me specifically", well, it was you who asked the question! You could tell that a lightbulb came on and she had the thought to turn it into a personal racist attack on her. It wasn't, that idiot would have given the same answer to anybody that had asked the question. It was an attack on China, yes, but not a personal attack on her. Please don't think I'm supporting Trump in anyway, he is a detestable man but it winds me up when people use claims of racism to create a situation.
In a similar vein, Bryan Adams had a rant about the likely cause of the pandemic being the wet market trade of animals. He is now being called racist for that attack. Does this mean that somebody can't criticise a practice that occurs somewhere other than in their home country without it being deemed racism? As far as I can see he didn't refer to the nation or the people. If he came out with an rant on the clubbing of baby seals in his home country then presumably that would be perfectly acceptable?
I'm fed up of being told "oh you can't say anything about that, it's racist", no, I don't give a damn about the race of a person, if they are doing something wrong then they deserve criticism and fair play to Bryan.
Episodes like this actually cheapen the cause for the many justifiable claims of racism.

With billions of people around, you'll find billions of different opinions and values. If we each decided to only believe in and support issues that every other similar viewpoint holder could exactly agree with us, we'd never take decisions or help to improve the world.
People stand up for what is right and excusing ourselves from the effort because someone else didn't quite do it correctly, or was in some other manner wrong about it, is feeble. |

I hate to break it to you but Donald is well known to be a racist, misogynist, homophobe, antisemitist and islamaphobe.
The other day he told a non-aryan to "go back to your own country". The person was a native American. That is ironic in so many ways.
Asking China a question is to ask a geographic area a question. How does one go about doing this? Does China have a phone number or email address? Trump was asked a straightforward question which was relevant to the USA. Why is he not able to answer a perfectly reasonable question like the one that was asked?
In his latest rage, he has accused the Democrats of "rigging" an election in California by providing a voting station in a remote area..... the station was requested by the Republicans.
If Donald Trump is such an honest person why does he refuse to hand over his tax records after he has been subpoenaed to do so?
As for Brian Adams I would also like to ask how Japan has returned to whaling with not a peep from the world and while China is condemned, Japan is given a RWC, Olympic Games and Seawolf declared a terrorist organisation. |

Did anyone hear Chris Patton's interview on the BBC this evening? He said amongst other things, that more of the world would join in the criticism of The Chinese government if Trump wasn't making it such a thing in his reelection campaign. And a lot of other interesting things I might add?? |

As for Brian Adams I would also like to ask how Japan has returned to whaling with not a peep from the world and while China is condemned, Japan is given a RWC, Olympic Games and Seawolf declared a terrorist organisation."
Please don't patronise me, I know only too well that Trump is one of the lower forms of life. My point is the journalist saw an opportunity to make an appearance on the world stage by making a claim that DT was only saying those things because of her ethnicity. It was just a cheap shot that she knew would get her name across the world's media. As I said before, acts like that degrade the cause of people fighting racism in the world.
And yes, Frank, it's the old adage of "your enemy's enemy is your friend"! |

"Two things have wound me up today.

Oh please. I watched that interview. The question was about the the death rate in the USA. The only relevance China had to the entire situation was ethnicity of the reporter.
He then refused to answer the reporter who he pointed to next when that reporter seemed to side with the first reporter. He then stormed off. Trump seems to have a problem with female reporters, perhaps he doesn't feel properly introduced until he's grabbed them by the privates |

Some of the most densely populated parts of the world are also the hottest. Once the atmosphere reaches a certain temperature the body is unable to cool itself. Do you think those millions of people will stay in those lands and die? Or do you think they will make their way to cooler climates?
Think 280 000 people dying is bad. Wait till it's millions/billions. This isn't me saying this. It's scientists. |

erm.... i hate to be the to point out "donald" has previous for doing exactly what you are alledging.... but donald has "previous" for what you are alledging....
remember the "trump university" cas when he said that a judge of mexican descent was biased because he wanted to build the wall......
irony being the judges family had actually be in america about 100 yrs longer than trumps....
and then there was the time when the black journalist after charlottesville asked if he would speak to a group of black members of congress... to which he replied "do you know them? are you offering to set up a meeting!"
and then whenever asian journalists ask him questions he does have a knack of asking where they are from before answering.......
so yeah.... the journo in question happens to be american born, whos folks are of chinese decent... so...emr... yeah!!! |

"Bryan Adams is correct "
Bryan adams has clearly never been to a wet market.
These are the equivalent to our town center market stalls and American farmers markets.
Only they are in enclosed space/building not open to the elements like most of ours.
Most also don't sell any kind of meat just vegetables and are a lifeine to the poor.
That said some are filthy and some spotless
Some have traditional/ethnic/exotic meat.
China is big country with varying levels of economic prosperity and traditions. I don't agree with it all but you can't tell another country what they can and can not eat.
Imagine China told America to stop eating steaks
Or Japan told Scotland they can't eat haggis (but really Scotland stop eating haggis its fucking disgusting and black pudding can go to)
So whatt I mean.. it's slippery slope
I also wrote this humming the airwolf theme tune so enjoy people

And then there is the Pocahontas racial slur that Trump uses when referring to Elizabeth Warren.
Perhaps people naturally presume Trump is being racist because that's his modus operandi? |

As May said. Trump is a plonker and he likely said it to her because she was Asian.
Refering that she should talk to her people.
He is known for his racists remarks specily to white House press. Where he forced a Mexican (I believe) reporter to leave because he (jumped the line in asking a question) totally humiliating him. Then suggested he asked him to leave because the reporter worked for fake news station

I don't always agree with you but on this sadly you are right.
I went cage diving with Great Whites in South Africa on March 7th 2020 (got the vid on drop box) we were so lucky and had 3 GW sharks on our dive 1 juvenile 2 adult 4.5 metre males. Sadly sightings have dropped dramatically and we were the first dive in 30 days to get Great whites. What was once shark alley and GW tourism is now relying on bronze whaler sharks filling in the gap.
The rate of Sharks been killed 100 million every year is unsustainable. For example great whites take longer than humans in terms of age before they reproduce. Take out the apex predators and the ocean is fucked followed by the planet.
Ocean Ramseys documentary on shark fin soup is heart breaking.
Sadly Covid19 is but a mere tiny dress rehearsal for the fate that awaits our grandchildren unless humanity as a whole now gets together and changes course.
It can be done in the 80s / 90s we managed to do it with the ozone layer hole and getting rid of cfc's worldwide.

I totally disagree, the journalist was quite understandably shocked and surprised by Trump's totally irrelevant and sensational question. Her knee jerk response was to pose a question back from a human perspective. For all we know she might quite innocently been asking why Trump felt she'd be in a position to 'ask China', whereas he isn't.
She never mentioned her race when she posed the question back to him, so we're no better qualified to make a judgement on her motives if we're not prepared to make a judgement on Trump's. |

I'm no trump fan
But i think parts of the press bait him for a sensational sound byte
Becuase it easy
And it sells news
But that lady was pisssssed. And rightly so.
She asked a fair question and he gave a ridiculously answer be it with racist intent or not
He also then went on to treat the next female reporter disgustly and proceed to walk of having a tantrum.
Trump can not handle criticism |

Maybe for a change, rather than the American attitude to be deferential to their President, this Reporter decided to question his answer more directly. Is that answer due to how I look, as an Asian American.
This would also allow other Asian Americans not just the Reporter to know if the President blames them because they look Chinese. I doubt Trump would see the difference between Korean, Japanese etc..
He needs to be more forcefully questioned, gives a stupid answer, rather than ask another question by another Reporter carry on with the same question until he storms out or splutters out the truth, that he’s incompetent.
