Just for info, here in Wales we are under almost the same restrictions as the last few weeks - except we can now exercise twice a day.

We are not allowed to drive somewhere in order to exercise.

So please be aware that you can't drive from England into Wales unless it is for another reason.

This once twice a day thing for one hour is not law it's what government have said but not entered into law same as travel to exercise the police say you can but you can people need to really read the laws and bookmark the website as it's unfair people and the police don't really know where they stand and it's causing more trouble as it's not clear to all

I don't think Party Politics have a place here. It seems much more sensible to follow the advice of The Welsh, Scottish and NI Assemblies in sticking with the Stay Home approach.

It is totally illogical to advise going to work, whilst telling people to avoid public transport. The vast majority of people went by bus and train to work if they have to travel. Until this issue is resolved, the fundamentals of our economy can't be fixed. London for example depends on Commuters via train, underground and bus.

Better advice would have been:

- Stay at home wherever possible

- Exercise within 5 miles of home

- Work within 10 miles of home if you can cycle or get there by car

- Avoid any contact with other people, maintain the 2m gap

- Only Logistics/Freight companies should be using the roads for deliveries

- All masks and PPE should be provided to the NHS, Carers, Emergency Services, Food store workers, Freight drivers first - anything left over can be used by the general public

- Businesses can open if they can protect there staff. If this cannot be done, they should stay shut or operate at a reduced level to ensure staff and customer safety

- Schools as for businesses. If Schools don't open, then employees with Children have the right to work from home or be furloughed.

Penalties for breaking the rules should be:

- £100 first offence

- £500 second offence

- £2500 third offence

- Jail 4th offence

Fairly simple, reasonably unambiguous and understandable to most people. It even gives the Police the chance to enforce it.

In my benevolent dictatorship we would also have started this a lot earlier, brought in testing a lot earlier and not been arrogant about the severity of Covid 19

I think you’ll agree that’s a very good percentage, given the systematic attempts to eradicate such a beautiful language over a number of centuries .

In fact, it should be celebrated and shouted from the rooftops by true British patriots. We should have a UK-wide celebration. With bunting - Brits love bunting,

I live closer to The English border than I do to Cardiff so all this does seem very weird. Not a huge fan of devolution in general, but it is what it is. I think for some (certainly for me), it was just a shock to realise that Cardiff actually has control now, (usually don’t pay much attention to what goes on there unless they are giving us free stuff).

Stay safe everyone anyway, and hopefully the decisions each nation are making turn out to be the right ones for them ??

But you can't decide to furlough for this extended period when other areas are not. So any incremental furlough wages should come out of the country budget not the UK. Not fair to fund Scotland only and Welsh only policies. They are just playing party politics for devolution.

But you can't decide to furlough for this extended period when other areas are not. So any incremental furlough wages should come out of the country budget not the UK. Not fair to fund Scotland only and Welsh only policies. They are just playing party politics for devolution. "

You say that like furlough in england has stopped Did i miss something?

"Wales and Scotland should perhaps have hard boarders so they can police this. I also hope the respective governments will fund furlough from their own pockets.

Gonna give the tax back from North Sea oil then?

Pretty sure Scotland is handsomely paid. Plus value of oil is low at the moment. But it goes go to show Wales and Scotland are using party politics for devolution here.

In my benevolent dictatorship we would also have started this a lot earlier, brought in testing a lot earlier and not been arrogant about the severity of Covid 19 "

I mean other than putting your 5 and 10 mile restrictions in there , is most of this not pretty much the current scenario?

That’s a really poor come back. How about RBS give back £45.5 billion bailout?

North Sea old brings on £1.2 billion a year....

I haven't seen any suggestion of extending furlough in Wales and Scotland. I don't think it can be done as benefits payments aren't devolved.

Jealous is the wrong word.

I’ve heard endless jokes, snide comments and just plain wrong assertions in my fifty years on the planet.

Most people generally just ignore, laugh them off or shrug. I’m actually sick of it now though - especially when I’m told it’s a “dead language” for the millionth time by a clueless idiot.

What I just don’t understand is why proud British patriots aren’t proud of the oldest language to be spoken on these islands.

Again, to stress - a proportion of the people ion criticising above are Welsh people.

It's true that people do strange things. Many actually will think this in the future I'm not supporting it just saying it's a feature of the way people think. It would be a loss to tourism for both nations if they do.

For example I have both a car and a small camper (van type). And we used to go to Blackpool to do the pleasure beach at least once a year, for a change we went in our camper and parked where we normaly park our car which has always been free and still is - what we hadn't noticed was that the sign had changed - just one line added to the bottom that restricted anything but a saloon car from parking - my bad that I didn't notice but it annoyed me so much that I have never been back to Blackpool in 3 years !!!! Kinda just stuck in my mind now not to visit ever again. So for the want of £45 fine they have lost all the tourism spending from me possibly forever.

You’ve not been told to fuck off (well, maybe the odd idiot phrases it that way). I work on the tourist industry - every organisation and individual has been falling over themselves to say how much we value our visitors and are looking forward to welcoming you all when we can.

The simple fact is health is a devolved matter in the UK. Now, you can argue whether that is right or not (personally, I’m delighted given the Tory party’s handling of this), but that’s a fact.

The authorities are doing what they deem to be right for the people they govern. All people are asking is for people to respect that. It’ll be chaos otherwise.

The term lockdown should be scrapped, Drakeford says you can still only travel if its essential but you can drive to a garden centre or b&q or a kfc etc and now I see on the south wales argos they are opening up the golf courses, hopefully those who enjoy a swift 9 or 18 holes are within walking distance of the course, the police must be getting to the stage of giving up.

But driving in a sealed vehicle to go for a solitary walk (or with your family) would be lethal and is prohibited.

Meanwhile thousands dying from air pollution every year (nice in Port Talbot where the motorway is virtually by peoples bedroom windows). No one has ever got hysterical and called for all vehicles to be locked down

Total nonsense but hysterical people still running around saying 'lock us up' for a disease that past it's peak a month ago and is about as fatal as severe flu.

"Devolved powers were for local issues, it's a pandemic, it's as global as it gets lol it should be governed centrally.

When the three devolved states are in accordance, isn't it central government that's out of step?"

You seem to miss the point, so if all your kids want sweets for dinner it's the parent who should change? As all the kids agree lol I'm not calling Wales Scotland n Ireland kids I'm just demonstrating a point. There should be one voice, if every kid parent council county all get a say, and why shouldn't they it effects all of us etc etc it all becomes sweets for dinner lol the whole point of a central government is being made pointless.

Health is devolved

Wales Scotland and N.I have no obligation to follow/agree with Westminster over health issues

I think you should ask the thousands of lovely English folks who live here and love it. That includes loads of friends of mine.

They’re all over social media saying how grateful they are to be here right now

I know Erith.....Erith vs Snowdonia.....it’s a no brainer

You are right. The devolved governments have budgetary control over health matters so it is right and proper that they set whatever rules they like in health matters. It's good to have a bit of rivalry anyway. It keeps you on your toes anyway.

So no sunbathing in Scotland and Wales ..is that right?

In this instance I support BJ in allowing people to be outdoor social distancing...I dont think it should have been banned in the first place..

Common sense prevails

It should be 1 rule for all.

We have a caravan in wales and some of the abuse from the welsh to english peole about using caravans is awful .

Wales has very little industry apart from tourism and if it was independent could not be self sufficent so are subsidised by the english they aim the abuse at .

Personally I think Boris was right (did I just say that!) to stop sunbathing. They were right to stop behaviours that meant people were out for long periods. Sunbathing itself wasn’t really the problem, but the knock-on behaviours from that.

Believe me - the many English people who live around me are just as angry about people turning up during lockdown. In fact, many of the most voiciferous people are English.

Anyway - this isn’t a Wales vs England thing. The vast majority of people have been equally angry about people coming from other parts of Wales.

I can’t believe people are surprised locals are getting angry. Imagine you haven’t left your house since March 17th, like my parents, and people sneak into holiday properties on your estate from areas with far higher levels of cases.

I should just add - most people have stayed and and people have been very proactive in thanking them.

It’s a small minority of monumentally disrespectful, arrogant people.
