Clubs shut till vaccine found?
Jump to: Newest in thread
What do we think. Do u think all clubs will remain closed until a vaccine is found, either because the government makes it illegal to open or will club "owners" keep them shut? Can you see anyway they can open before a vaccine is found? The same could apply to private parties of course, is anyone likely to risk having one? |

I’m hoping no one takes the vaccine, as sure as eggs are eggs they will concoct one. There’s huge profits in vaccines. If you remember a few years ago we had swine flu. GSK hastily concocted a vaccine. 6 million people had the vaccine. It was withdrawn due to an epidemic of narcolepsy, which was attributed to the vaccine. GSK admitted holding back safety issues. Court cases are still ongoing, compensation has been paid to some victims, out of the taxpayers pocket I might add. The vaccine was called PANDEMRIX. Oh nearly forgot, all drug companies are indemnified against vaccine or any other drug injury. Gov.uk has a vaccine injury page for people to claim. But please do your own research, all the information is out there for you to check. |

I see them opening before a - possible, but not certain - vaccine is ever found.
There are a ton of posts on the future for clubs. There are some parallels with the publics interest in getting out in to the wider world, such as getting to work again, having meets and using clubs - we're rightly reluctant until we view things as safer. The government can decide when and what but so do the public. |

On the whole vaccines are incredibly safe and incredible effective. Protecting millions from suffering and dying from Covid19 for the cost of a handful of cases of narcolepsy would be a price I would accept. |

Maybe not shut till a vaccine comes up, but I have a feeling they will be shut for a while. Probably long enough where some will never reopen. |

I'm sure once restrictions are lifted, and pubs and bars etc are open again the clubs will look to open. Then as normality starts to creep back in the majority of people will restart their lives and do what ever they did before in much the same way (unless forced to changed by the gov) |

We think clubs will "re-open in August, when they r generally quieter anyway and it will be very much down to individuals if they want to take a chance of picking up the virus. We will be attending clubs again as soon as they do open. |

Not sure what world you are living in if you think clubs will reopen in 3 months! Where do you think thus virus is going?! Social distancing is here to stay and sadly that means clubs won't be opening/reopening in 2020. In fact you can probably write 2021 off too. |

Hope we r right. Just trying to remain optimistic and positive. Too many doom merchants about! But honestly, yes the corona virus is lethal to those with underlying health conditions, including my mum in law, but the majority of us will manage it just like flu, so my optimism is based on the virus being managed by the government, so that cases can be handled by the NHS, god bless, and the rest of us get back to some kind of normal.

"Clubs will reopen as soon as other recreational venues will and that’s going to be before any vaccine exists even if one ever does."
The question is not just if and when they will open; it is whether they can stay open.
Like any other business, swinging clubs rely on people paying the entrance fee to cover the cost of running the club.
They are not charities, nor do fund their overheads from government grants.
The question would be: how many people are confident enough to go back to clubs as early as August.
We don’t know the answer to that yet, but if the numbers are less than 60%, then it’s likely that some clubs will not reopen, or they will reopen only to shut down again for an indefinite period. |

I doubt it, a vaccine will take too long to roll out safely and too long to be given to enough people (plus the cost).
I think clubs will remain closed until the infection rate falls below a certain level.
Although in the interim there's the likelihood that people will arrange their own parties and gatherings. |

But those 60% may spend 200% of preciously on alcohol as its likely to be a more social event.
Things change businesses adapt

But do you know whether the 60% will even come through the door?
And do you know whether they will spend the 200% ?
And do you know how long those people will keep attending the club for just “social only” ?
Like I said above, we don’t know the answers to these questions yet, so it’s too early to say whether clubs will open by August.
You also say: “ Things change businesses adapt”.
True, but it’s not just about adapting the business, it’s also whether your clientele wish to adapt. |

people seem to be missing the point that clubs rely on the council giving them a license.would not be at all surprised if councils revoke licenses.can u imagine the uproar from the general public if a club re opens and then has an outbreak amongst its customers.remember it only takes one person to be infected.they will prob put conditions on licenses that will maje it almost impossible to open |

The ambulance chasing lawyers will be watching this with interest, only wants one of your party to pick up the virus and they will descend like a ton of bricks. Remember where there is blame there is a claim. I think most club owners have this at the back of their minds. |

Quick testing could be a compromise. You could take a quick swab test at the club, results within a couple of minutes as well as checking peoples temperatures. Not everyone will agree, but a way forward possibly? |

But the clubs may not be allowed to open anytime soon for you to be able to. attend.
That’s the point the previous poster is making.
Private parties will be allowed as soon as restrictions are lifted on family & friends visiting each other, and that will come sooner than the reopening of clubs. |

Club opens up, some people decide they want to visit and are healthy with no underlying conditions, they decide it's a tiny risk and more likely to pick up a sti than covid, clubs get all party goers to sign a disclaimer. Job sorted if you dont want to go then don't if you do then go.

Swingers clubs are a completely different ballgame to pubs and restaurants and anyone who things differently are kidding themselves. We can adapt further down the line and open as a pub with reduced capacity but is this viable and is there a demand?
The ONLY country so far to mention swinging clubs (they actually said 'sex clubs') is the Netherlands and they have said that they MAY allow clubs to open in September. They have had 5440 deaths to date, we'v ehad 31855; we are a different kettle of fish altogether
Believe me, we want to open asap but it's not going to be for along time. Swingers clubs will be in the very last phase |

Agreed but "private" parties could, always ways round rules a bit like selling raffle tickets which wins you an alcoholic drink at a charity do without a licence to sell it.

I doubt there will be any official guidance. Clubs are private members clubs by definition and will open when they feel they can make it pay...and this won’t be at least until general hospitality is allowed to open. I reckon it might be August....as by then things hopefully will be different. I severely doubt many clubs could survive until 2021 without any trade at all. |

Not sure, but no doubt this will be something called for in the near future. Test results in minutes would mean that people could just get on and not have to isolate. If this is a virus here to stay, a test such as this will be essential to keep daily life moving. |

There are Covid19 guidelines in place for establishment to abide by before they open for general public .
Even places like GP, Opticians, Shops have social distancing measures until a vaccine is found .
Clubs and restaurants can't apply them guidelines precisely because of the nature of their business.
What's the use of having social distancing norms in a swinging club ?
Club goers have to wait for a while now ,need to find a life somewhere else . |

Nothing stopping you meeting now , contracting the virus and potentially dying with it or do you think you are untouchable. Sounds to me like common sense will be required rather than stupidity! Yes some people have to stay at home and shield - it's called common sense! |

Not the same freedom you were used to though. With the absence of a vaccine, restrictions will be in place to manage / control the spread.
Those restrictions will curtail some of the freedom you once had. |

Restrictions on social distancing will only eased when the infection rate will be in single figures for a number of weeks. Also the will need to be an effective track and trace system which needs to be accurate and quick to react to a small and localised increase in infections. It would also depend on effective and easy testing. Got to be something that can be supplied by public health for all establishments that has close contact between adults
This will only come about when authorities having a adult conversation about adult lifestyles.
Of course this will be difficult because as soon as it is bought up by the authorities the newspapers will have a field day with the prospect that adults will want to have sex outside a marriage/partnership.
Daily Fail will be camped outside the first club that dares to open. |

Not the same freedom you were used to though. With the absence of a vaccine, restrictions will be in place to manage / control the spread.
Those restrictions will curtail some of the freedom you once had. " not forever it wont.. we will eventually become as blazè about covid 19 as we are with regards to flu.. |

"I doubt there will be any official guidance. Clubs are private members clubs by definition and will open when they feel they can make it pay...and this won’t be at least until general hospitality is allowed to open. I reckon it might be August....as by then things hopefully will be different. I severely doubt many clubs could survive until 2021 without any trade at all.
And what's going hopefully be 'different' in August? Where do you think this virus is suddenly going to in August?!
By August, those of us with common sense may be given the freedom to exercise it. The rest can stay at home if they wish.

Absolutely and it's gonna be many years like this - we are only at the beginning of the pandemic . We are still in wave 1 and will see more waves over the years until the possibility of a vaccine |

People are not going to stay away from others indefinitely. They arent doing it now. Let alone in 2 or 3 more months.. and years... you won't be able to social distance for years |

No they aren't - that's why, according to Whitty, there are believed to be 20000 infections per day in the UK. So even a 1% mortality rate ( very low estimate) means approx 1400 deaths per week at this rate once the 'peak' is over |

Lockdown moves the curve as once we ease things you will see a spike . Read an interesting couple of research papers that suggest that in several years all countries will have a similar death rate per population no matter what they do.
Maybe because I am in the front line dealing with people having mental health issues from this my view is very negative of the actual process of lockdown. We are social creatures. |

The problem is you'd have to test everyone every week.
And as far as antibodies are concerned no one is 100 percent sure how long they stay in the system and even if they work effectively. We are unfortunately stuck in a situation where only time will allow the answers to show through. |

I’m not suggesting it will be forever, as I’m hoping a vaccine or some cure is found at some stage. I don’t know whether one will be found, but I live and hope.
Our freedom will be curtailed for a while as a result of that though.
Whether we will end up being relaxed about it like we do with the flu, is not something we will know just yet.
The flu has a vaccine, and it doesn’t kill over 30,000 within 6 weeks.
So compared to the flu, I would assume people will be more careful with this one at the moment until a vaccine is found ( if one is ever found )
