I'm not going to get too excited about it, it doesn't mean it's over. I think there will be quite a few limitations, it'll mostly benefit businesses, small and large I think, trying to get the economy moving again... |

He said in PMQs that he’d like to start easing restrictions on Monday but that he was waiting until Sunday to decide so he had all the evidence available.
Definitely not because he didn’t want parliamentary scrutiny by doing it before the weekend.  |

He said it at prime minister's question time early changes will likely be allowing more businesses to open and allowing small family get togethers probably with time restrictions allowing more shops to open clothes stores etc. |

However, it's going to be in phases.
Put it this way. GM's I know in the Hotel industry have already received the Govt issued document which outlines all the measures that must be put in place before they can reopen.
That document runs to 300 pages, covering hundreds of mandatory requirements.
The main problem is that it's been put together in a style that all hotels are the same.
Some of the requirements as seen by the owners of our business, aren't physically possible within our 300+ year old property.
We could reach a compromise option but the responses from authorities so far have been "installation has to follow these instructions. If you don't comply, you cannot reopen".
Thus, the business could have to shut down altogether if mutually agreeable options can't prevail.
That would put 20 people out of work.
Let's hope common sense kicks in.

Would have thought putting in fever screening CCTV at the main entrance would cover your _ases.
That way the guest could be automatically denied entrance saving the issue moving into the premises.
Look up MinMoe and fever screening solutions on the Hik-Vision website. |

Lockdown easing doesn't mean it's any safer, it simply means .gov anticipates or hopes, fingers crossed everywhere, that there enough ICU beds available for the second spike.. |

A vaccine won’t be offered to the general population so unsure as to why people are relying on this. We have to get it to defeat it. The lockdown was to protect the services. They are far from overwhelmed. See your family

I wonder how many will sit rigid in fear awaiting ‘permission’ to see their family and then rise, drama laden, to criticise the authorities that auntie x or uncle y or whoever is disadvantaged or worse because they were not allowed to visit. Congratulations a post finally worth reading. It’s taken six weeks to recognise our new reality and the inevitability of life post the virus. I wonder how many will sit rigid in fear awaiting ‘permission’ to see their family and then rise, drama laden, to criticise the authorities that auntie x or uncle y or whoever is disadvantaged or worse because they were not allowed to visit. So, act sensibly but ffs go see your family...."

Heat recognise CCTV by itself will only capture those with a fever, not any of those asymptomatic. Anyone with a fever or a cough should be at home anyway. Face masks, sanitizer, social distancing will still have to be in place. Cleaning and sanitising rooms will have to be absolutely necessary. Can’t see it happening. |

I'm not stupid but the sudden rise in cases is down to more testing... and hospital admissions are down. As is the death rate.
But its simple logic. If they tested 100,000 a day you would get jumps of about 5000 to 10000 per day...
I've been out in the community daily since this began so well aware of how its affecting people. But I'm lucky to live in an area basically unaffected with actual infections. |

Yes go see them and if you happen to be asymptomatic and give it to them and they die well so what! The UK is only heading towards 30,000 deaths so far. Why make do with phone calls and video calls the same way everyone who's ever emigrated has done for the last decade. It's only an unprecedented death rate from an easily communicable disease!
When you're standing by the grave of a loved one with the few people who can attend and socially distancing all the while you can tell everyone "Sure, Zooms shite anyway, totally worth it." |

I'm assuming that immediate changes may allow ever so slightly larger groups outdoors, say 4 people. Plus other outdoors changes. Possibly very small get togethers indoors, if very local.
Pending changes could be for businesses outdoors to open, such as garden centres.
All changes will expect physical distancing rules to continue.
People still to work from home where possible.
Perhaps talk of other shops allowed to open, with essential physical distancing, at a future stage? |

The problem with easing the lockdown it will have negative effect on care workers and medical staff. It will effect available PPE and sanitisers for them as reopened shops and businesses will also need them.In the beginning they will share what available but the businesses who are providing PPE will then start to prioritize those prepared to pay more for them. It will also effect those who been making them for free as the materials needed to make more will become harder to come by. Then there the effect on public transport more people will start using it which means any medical staff also using it will be put in increased danger if the buses become more full. A bus is 12m by 2.5m including driver only 12 people should be on a bus. Doctors and nurses are difficult to replace. |

It’s okay saying that shops and businesses can open if they put distancing measures in place.
It’s the prat’s that go into said shops etc that don’t seem to think the 2 metre rule applies to them that will no doubt set us back once more. |

The biggest change for most people will be reopening of most outside spaces and being allowed to see local family and friends none of which will be compulsory if folks don't feel ready just carry on as you are golf courses as well I believe with social distancing in place |

I pretty much agree with this but the key words in your post are 'act sensibly' and therein lies the problem.
The government have to issue guidance which accommodates the behaviour of those who are unable to act sensibly, the outcome being we all have to suffer.
If the outcome of rescinding the lockdown is people start behaving in a cavalier way then I'd rather sit it out at home, despite working in the NHS! |

it may be eased... i don't think it will be by a lot at this stage!
i think everything that will be announced will still have to be compliant with social distancing guidelines...
so i can see construction coming back....
and non essential shops being allowed to reopen...
shops such as fast food will be take out or drive thru only...
small social groups allowed... 10 max
i dont think bars and restaurants come back at this stage... if they do then at 25-30% capacity only....
the main focus is still going to be at home working if you can do so and that will be encouraged! |

They have said if just as many people remain in furloughed they will have to reduce it to 60 percent how many people would still be managing then things are going to change on Sunday the prime minister at the very least fueled the speculation during question time things are definitely going to change we just don't know how much |

BORIS JOHNSON'S FIVE-STAGE PLAN
1. From Monday
Unlimited exercise allowed. Employees to be encouraged to return to workplaces that have stayed open through- out the lockdown if safe. Garden centres could reopen while there may be more guidance on the use of outdoor spaces including open-air markets, high streets and cemeteries.
2. End of May/Start of June
Phased return of primary schools in England, starting with Year 6. Households could be allowed to expand “social bubble” to meet one other household of family or friends.
3. June (End)
Phased return of secondary schools in England before the summer holidays. Small team sports such as five-a-side football could be allowed, along with outdoor gatherings of fewer than 30 people. Cafes with outdoor seating could reopen while outdoor sports like golf, tennis and angling might resume. Possible return of Premier League matches, although behind closed doors.
4. End of August/Start of September
Pubs, bars and restaurants could gradually reopen although customers would be expected to follow strict social distancing rules.
5. October
Possible return of football fans to matches. Gyms could be allowed to re-open. But any further lifting of restrictions to get back to normal life would be in doubt amid fears of a second wave of coronavirus or an outbreak of seasonal flu

The trickiest move is to progress from social distancing to demographic distancing.
This first 6 weeks has effectively changed the culture and allowed us to slow interactions.
But when you look at the death and infection rates as we know its the over 65s who are taking the hit.
Now all the vulnerable have been logged and identified, it's going to be a hard choice to say everyone else go back but effectively segregate the vulnerable for 12 months.
But it is probably the likely end game. |

I'm sure if boris had said slower queen Nicola would have said a bit quicker lol she always plays the, well I did say .... get out card lol she never agrees, Scotland has a population the size of Yorkshire and as such should have the same amount of control lol

This is just my personal view. I believe that this is at least two weeks too earlier.
The seeds for spike two and lockdown two will be sowed this weekend.
As soon as you introduce any degree of ambiguity, people will push the envelope.
The will be thousands of barbecues taking place this weekend and people will just say "sod it" and go about their perceived restored rights.
It's the equivalent of running a marathon, getting a lead, and then stopping as soon as you get into the stadium.
Two more weeks of pain now, may save us eight more weeks further into the year.
I sincerely hope I am wrong. I am about a lot of things. |
