BBC news report shows a sample taken in December tested positive for COVID19

As we learn more through tracing I wonder if and how thay will alter peoples perceptions given the widely held view that it emanated from a filthy Chinese market

Personally I think it probably originated a year ago, but nobody knew what it was then.

I have a friend who was diagnosed with pneumonia last August , days after a flight from Hong Kong , his colleague who was on same flight ended up on a ventilator. My friend has not been ill since, so it would be interesting to see his results of a test for past infection.

I thought I'd seen a report which said the first cases were now back on August in China and in October/nov in main land Europe.

I am still sure I had it in December.. id been in Milan late November

This was part of a report. Cant put the link I don't think.

Adriano Decarli, an epidemiologist and medical statistics professor at the University of Milan, said there had been a "significant" increase in the number of people hospitalised for pneumonia and flu in the areas of Milan and Lodi between October and December last year.

He told Reuters he could not give exact figures but "hundreds" more people than usual had been taken to hospital in the last three months of 2019 in those areas - two of Lombardy's worst hit cities - with pneumonia and flu-like symptoms, and some of those had died.

It's good the French are digging deeper into the situation sensible in tracing the spread no matter where it came from .

I still think, with massive degree of certainty it originated in China.....but equally certain at least a few months before they basically had to fess up...

Most of our office went ill in January with similar symptoms everyone is pretty confident it was this - you can’t prove it obviously but we had people in France end of last year dealing with clients so the time lines meet up. It will be interesting to see all the stats when it’s all looked in to in a few years ... personally I think we will see the death rate is a lot lower than the media would have you believe (to be fair the current stats prove that... but I mean even lower)

The last major pandemic... Spanish flu..as most western countries refer to it..

Didn't originally come from Spain...even back then they knew this...but it was called Spanish flu...as it was the Spanish press that were the first to make big waves about it..

So a bit like an Orange man in charge of a whole country calling it Wuhan flu or Chinese flu... purely political..

The fact is..lots of people have know for sometime that there would be a pandemic..it's a simple unavoidable thing...
